  • Big L > Nas

  • in the made you look music video nas is at the big l mural in harlem

  • BIG L REST IN PIECE!!!!!

  • Jay wouldn't have no chance if Big L was still alive when the whole Nas Vs Jay-z beef....Big L would have killed Jay's career...Just my opinion

  • @JetLifeMovement Stupid opinion.

Jay was bigger than L back then didn't matter if he was still alive.

  • @HitzR1 Not a stupid opinion, cause in reality of things Big L was being signed to Roc-A-Fella so the beef wouldn't have happened, I was just saying that if Big L sided with Nas Jay's career would have been done cause back then battles were a career ender back then

  • @JetLifeMovement Only Hip Hop heads knew who Big L was, the rest of the world wouldn't of cared if he dissed Jay(even though he wouldn't)

No battles weren't career enders back then. Jay vs Nas did happen and it wasn't too long ago.

Nas didn't kill Jay's career, even if L sided with Nas to diss Jay they wouldn't have killed his career.

  • @HitzR1 Agreed with the first part of what you said the world wouldn't have cared which is a shame cause it took for him to pass to get the dues paid with the mainstream hip-hop fans...The hip-hop artist themselves respected L for being one of the best...LL Cool J killed Canibus's career with 4,3,2,1 so it was career ending back then with certain artists I guess....But all that aside it was only an opinion. In the case of Nas Vs Jay they were already respected in hip-hop to end each other career

  • @JetLifeMovement Canibus' style killed his career. No flow and a voice people can't stand to listen to.

If you just admitted that no one would care if L helped Nas against Jay, then why would you say that they would've killed his career?

  • @HitzR1 Ah well, People are entitled to their opinion stupid or not so I'm just gunna let it go and just be happy there is people who like the same kind of music as me and that's the bottom line at the end of the day

  • LMFAO NAS COULDNT FUCK WITH L. NOBODY COULD

  • @Palsharpton Nas is on a completley different level. His storytelling and lyricism is much better and he's deeper with more versatilty. but L had crazy punchlines

  • Good Shit. Thumbs Up.

  • feel sorry for nas. most people talk about greats they always say biggie, pac n big l but nas is right up ther with em

  • hmm gods son vs devils son. lyrics vs flow. rhymes vs punchlines. this is a good one, big l is fun to listen to but i have to say nas just because he influenced so many

  • man i usually dont get into this shit but seriously if jay z aint in the illuminati why is there so many symbols in the videos? i dont even believe in that shit but look at the side of the van 2:20

  • I wish Big L would still be a live. He would show modern day people what REAL hip Hop is.

  • @ayochris125x Amen to that brotha

  • Devil's Son vs. God's Son....

  • big L maybe had crazy metaphors and punchlines and nasty delivery and flow, but nas was just so much more poetic with his rhymes, he could tell a story much better, he was much deeper than L...i admire L for his skills, but nas gets the most respect with his overall lyrics, he's the best lyricist ever to me, just ahead of canibus eminem and pac

  • @wheela25 i agree with that... L was more of metaphor, flow murderin MC. whereas nas was more of a poet. like them both equally and for different reasons. their styles are totally different but they clearly both respected eachother. Lord Finesse's style is what influenced Big L.

  • My top 3 rappers of all time are Big L, Nas, and AZ. thats just me

  • step to this and get an ass whooping like rodney king got. RIP L

  • in my opinion lord finesse brought up the mvp and made him the devil of rap. the greatest. Big L

  • Good video

  • I was just about to mention devils son but i waited to comment

  • nas lyrics are way better than big l's but big l's flow murder's nas's just have to say that out of honesty.

  • how does nas inspire l when they were around exact same time and two different styles?

  • @lawofspike

Nah man... Nas didn't influence Big L at all

Big Daddy Kane & Run DMC and maybe Kool G. Rap for the most part influenced Big L. Not Nas

  • Hmm, top five lyrically: 1. Big Pun 2. Rakim 3. Big L 4. Canibus 5. Kool G Rap

  • Don't forget kool g rap. Nas got a bit of his style for g rap.

  • big l is top 5 worthy but pac.nas and big are the best

  • yeah illmatic was probably inspired by rakim but it was alsp inspired by tupac said by nas and some other rappers

  • Big L is awesome, but Nas is my favorite ever... both great!

  • shit no one knows who inspired who but they few they officially mention you guys need to shut the hell up with all the shit smell from your breath that no one is trying to hear enjoy the tracks and listen up. also fuck jay z

  • uhhh big l wasnt inspired by nas you fucking retard he was by lord finesse rofl

  • @LykeOmfgead nah he was a fan of nas as well.big l samples his lines.big l's awesome too though

  • If Big L didn't die, him and Nas probably would've made songs together.

  • @smokingzaggin probably not because Big L was dropped from colombia and Big L was boys with Jay-Z who Nas had beef with.

  • @IxDropkickxBabies Big L was friends with Nas and a fan of his music. I don't think Nas would hate Big L just for being signed with Jay-Z.

  • @IxDropkickxBabies are u dumb bro nas and jay z had beef after BIG L Died so how does that matter

  • nas and big l are fucking amazing why are people arguing the argument should be that nas and big l are better than big and pac

  • nas actually influence on big l , he sample lines and his rhymes was similar to nas's rhymes , even nas says "locked since '9-1

I am the truest, name a rapper that I ain't influenced" , it's not insult to the legendary rapper big l that he influenced by nas , so admit it people

  • @Haider94Ali L had no connections with nas....it was all finesse

  • @MrEratk very trueee

  • Shit big L fans still tryna go on nas WOW. What would ya be saying if the tables were turned & nas was dead? I stick up 4 L cuz he never got recognised the way he deserved but that doesn't change the way I feel about legends who did survive & obtained success. Does every 1 have to die in order to be respected? Bruce Lee, Michael Jackson, 2pac, Biggie, Big L etc...

  • nas had an influence on most rappers after him

  • tragedy khadafi is where nas got a lot of his style from. and rakim

  • Believe it or not, Lord FInesse & Big L created the metaphoric punchline rapping that nearly every rapper is using today.

    Check out lord finesses interviews.

  • @polkin56 L skills are very good, but not spectacular.

How do you he'd improve? how many mcs have improved 7 years after they came out?

  • Well, if I may quote NaS...

"Since 91', I am the truest. Name a rapper that I ain't influenced. Gave y'all chapters, but now I keep my eye on the Judas."

Now i dare you! Name a rapper. Don't worry. I'll hold my breath while you think...

  • Big L's first album was recorded before Illmatic during 1991.

  • i never saw a good connection between both artists, however this explain that notion

and THEN i noticed an odd familiarity between Nas's halftime AND Big L put it on, or it might be just me

  • SPREAD THE WORD OF THIS VIDEO NOW !!

  • those people who thought nas is way worse than big l, u could not say that if nas died

after makin' illmatic and it was written. if nas died leaving 2 albums and big l still live

the world today, of course many of u nigger would said L is way worse than nas.

    so respect both of them.

  • kool g rap was nas' inspiration..

  • jus how rao game goes .... rakim inspired nas , nas inspired big l , big l inspired jay

  • at 07:39 that Lord Finesse sample is a classic James brown song that Nas could have used in a totally unrelated way. In fact LL Cool J, BDK, Main Source and even Ice T all sampled that song....

  • what's nas song at 8:22??

  • Comment removed

  • this is BEATIFUL NAS AND BIG L

  • I hear Big Daddy Kane in Big L when he spits

go listen to "Principle Of The New School"

you proved nothing we know L was influenced by Big Daddy Kane

  • @getupandgetalife only nerds say shit like this.

  • @nastyNAS668

And your point is? Just because you use another rappers lines in your song for the chorus doesn't mean you were influenced by them. I mean Big L & Nas both got signed to Colombia Records around the same time. So how the hell did Nas influence Big L?

  • rakim inspired nas nas inspired big l big l inspired me

  • @getupandgetalife yes he was that s y he used L used nas' lines in his songs for the chorus

  • whats the big l song at 6:22

  • Have even heard Ls verse on TRIBORO? The motherfucker double rhymes like 9 FUCKING TIMES in context

  • @Fin6as big L crafted a handful of "story telling" songs and all of them are better than almost your entire list could ever produce. if you had listened to his entire discography you would understand this. the only rapper that can compare to L is nas. NOONE can match their flow and lyrical content PERIOD.

  • Big L was nice but not even top 30.

  • @Fin6as are u serious?

  • @Fin6as are u kidding me? Big L is the G.O.A.T. u obviously dont know hip hop if u dont think Big L is in the Top 5 at least

  • @GGSpotLOL Big L is the goat?!!! I don't know hiphop if I don't think L is at top 5?!! you big L fans live in fantasy world I swear. What have big L done in term of impact to be the goat? what catalogue does he have?I've never heard or read a known rapper, dj, producer, hiphop journalist, or even a website calling big L the goat. I've never seen him in any goat lists.

  • @GGSpotLOL here's a list of rappers I'd rank ahead of L off my head:

Rakim, Nas, redman, Jay-z, ice cube, biggie, Kool G Rap, Common, Ras Kass, Big Daddy Kane, Lupe Fiasco, Slick Rick, 2pac, Scarface, Pharoah Monch, Andre 3000, Az, Prodigy, Gza, Krs-1, big Pun, Masta Ace, Eminem, LL, Jadakiss, ghostface, Canibus, Black thought.

All these rappers had stronger impact, more skills, or/and better catalogue than big L.

  • @Fin6as They had a stronger impact cuz most of them are living

  • @GGSpotLOL they all had more impact in the 1st 6 years of their careers than big L.

If big L, according to you, didn't live long enough to have a huge impact, why are you calling him the goat then?

  • @Fin6as Punchline King, Storytelling Genius, One of The BEST Freestyler's, Top Notch Lyrics, Top Notch Flow, Named Illest MC of ALL Time by HHC Charts, Only took L a 4 track demo to get signed.

  • @BigLTheBestMC who proclaimed him?

-Big L have nice lines, but there're other mcs who can compete with him Like Budden, Canibus, Em, Vakill, Banks. but since they still alive, people gonna say L was the best.

-storytelling genius? All I gotta say L is not in the same league as legendary storytellers like Nas, Ricky, Cube, Big,face, ghost in any way shape or form. they all made mad creative storytelling classics.

-L is a good lyricist but far from the best.

  • @Fin6as lol ur mad as fuck eminem over l dawg how old r u 5.. even worse jay z over l . die in hell

  • @MIZ0217 you big L fans are something else.

  • big L didn't influence Nas.

Kool G Rap influenced Nas. Rakim influenced Nas. Big L didn't.

Big L fans are trying to rewrite history and make their dead hero seem to be bigger than he ever was.

  • BIG L REST IN PEACE BEST RAPPER TO EVER LIVE WE MISS YOU :(

  • @DayronBrown you're actually the first person to agree with me, most people just hop on the band wagon and say hes the best cause everyone else does, he's a good rapper and all but nowhere near the best..I think Nas is better than him also.

  • @SixShotMaryDown man there is a reason why so many people agree that 2pac is the best,is the legend...there is a reason why so many people talk, listen to his music 15 years after his death.eminem even big l admits that 2pac was the best.maybe L was more skilled but Nas??

  • @imgoingbitch and Nas how fucking stupid are you? He samples nas so much and the way he rhymes is sorta like nas.

  • @DayronBrown Pac forgot where he came from he only repped the west and I hate when people say hes the best rapper alive, this isnt towards you dayronbrown but some people need to get off that mans dick.

  • @imgoingbitch yes he did its obvious that Big Daddy Kane he sounds like both mixed in a blender.

  • the best rappers come from the east coast and youre an idiot if you dont agree, nas, big l, biggie, big pun, wutang, jay-z, mobb deep the list goes on

  • The beat at the end, its at start of illmatic also... whats it called?

  • i fucking hate jay z i dont get why so many think he is a legend he is fcking wack

  • were can i get the footage of nas rapping over Bad Mutha

  • damn i wish Big L and Nas got together before L past away the song would of been of the greatest songs

  • good video. very informative

  • man i fuckin get goosebumps when nas's nystate of mind comes on

  • Nas is waaayyyyy better than anybody else in da rap game. Illmatic d gr8est album eva made.

  • rip Big L

  • they never bit off of each other, they fed off of each others craft, energy, skill and love for the music.Theres a difference.

  • @60microphonemajesty plus they were signed to the same label in the same year.

They were msot likely good friends

  • @60microphonemajesty Yea I completely agree, Nas and Big L had pure talent, they didnt need each other to get where they got but why not? Its sharing the journey type thing. RIP L

  • @60microphonemajesty

Big L did bite that line though, "when I was 12, I went to hell for snuffing Jesus".

That was Nas from the BBQ freestyle.

  • @2pacinseattle Big L sampled it

  • anybody know the song in the background of big Ls interview?

  • big l is most influenced by big daddy kane and run dmc

  • @PS3xMedia- he has a few times...just a miment? im not sure- might be wrong...but he has

  • Comment removed

  • nas used to come down to harlem to battle L all the time, they were friends, so why did they never do a song together?

  • @PS3xMedia why haven't nas never mentioned Big L since he died?

  • @assadinho98 if ya think about it, he has, we just havent been there, and a lot of people dont have time to shout out everyone on their albums like big L does at the end of a lot of songs, but i agree, nas and definately jigga shouldve shouted him out bare.

  • Im wavin autofuckingmatic gunz at nunz!

  • 08:31 whats the name of the song ?

  • @z0romkD Nas- Get Down

  • i tell you now if i was a rapper id be lying everytime i said i was the greatest..straight lies

  • If he'd lived, he'd have gone on to greatness.

    R.I.P.

  • i neva sleep cuz sleep its the cousin of death

  • big l can nvr be better than nas and nas can nvr be better than big l both came hard with different style .. nas had the best hip hop .. nas big l forever fuck the rest

  • Nas wont get the respect he deserve until hes dead. i f*** wit big l but nas bodie of work is to much. we have to show this guy respect as well as eminem

  • very good video. did you make it?

  • it has to be said that cormega and big l r d greatest

  • niggas always suck your dick once your dead.

  • @ColdBoi people would suck his dick if he was alive you dumb ass L's lyricism is ridiculous the Punchline king

    R.I.P. Lamont Coleman

  • @ColdBoi yo if somebody was to read that literally youd be making a crazy statement haha

  • @ColdBoi truest commet typed here

  • @ColdBoi Word that's true. But Big L is one of the GOATs

  • @ColdBoi thats the straight fucking truth.

  • @ColdBoi its ashame forreal cuz Big L was truly the greatest, not alot of ppl realized until he passed

  • great video man

  • Illmatic>any other album

    Big L>any other MC

  • big l was copy some of Nas's shit, but i do think nas is better but big l had a big impact on him too so it kind of cancels each other out

  • lol u faggots actually think big l is better than nas............. wooow nas is fuckin amazing big l is ill too in his own ways . but nas is like a street poet . big l punch line rapper

  • Noone can beat L. Period..

    RIP

  • Illmatic >

  • there both the best i cant tell who's better

  • @kadowade according to Nas ,Big L was better. In a interview Nas said " it's no way I would've wanted to battle Big L back then "

  • @mysterymediacorp

Nas is more poetic, but Big L is a better punch line rapper.

  • @SeboHyatt poetics come in more than one form & definition

  • @mysterymediacorp

you're right but if you understand what I'm trying to say then you shouldn't have any problem. But just in case Imma try again. LIke Nas has a more lyrical style, Big L is sick but his words are more basic and rough. While Nas sounds more deep to me.

Sounds deep not actually deep. I hope you get what I mean, 'cause it's a little hard to explain at the moment.

  • @SeboHyatt nas is like a poetic rapper like pac but differs in many ways he has the flow . vocab and has crazy wordplay . big l is a punchline rapper and agruablly the best freestyler

  • @MIZ0217

yes exactly, thanks. that's what I'm trying to say.

  • @mysterymediacorp yeah..Big L,PUN,and Biggie the only niggas who could get with nas in a battle and win or survive..jadakiss maybe !

  • L really was inspired by Nas.He sampled him,he even took the same path to succes(coming with some crazy shit like the Devil`s Son,attracting attention and controversy and all that). That was pretty much it though,L still my fav

    R.I.P Mont-Mont

  • 5:02 love that picture

  • 'im waving automatic guns at nuns'- didnt know nas said that first.

  • Big L > Nas

  • Well As We Can See Big L Was A Huge Nas Fan

  • @GTD9002 They were probably fans of each other.

  • Pete Rock created the illest beats.

  • Fat Joe has had a fucked up social life i mean he's been close to the greatest rappers of all time and they died prematurely.

  • 5 dumb mutha fuckers..

  • anyone know the song thats start with the picture of the illmatic cover?????

  • @deltasquad08

i can't really take this question seriously..

because, the song is the first song off of illmatic, "The Genesis"

haha well, there you go hip-hop pal.

  • @CzeslawMeyer

    yea thats the one...good lookin

  • Breakdown in my opinion:

    G.O.A.T=Nas

    Most lyrical=Big Pun

    Most metaphoric=Big L

    Best flow=Biggie

    Most raw=Big L/Pun

    Most successful=Jay Z

    Any disagreements???

  • @ayojoe11220 nope, you're pretty spot on

  • @ayojoe11220 G.O.A.T=Big L

    Most Lyrical=Big L

    Most Metaphoric=Big L

    Best Flow=Biggie/Big L

    Most Raw=Big L

    Most Successful=Jay-Z

  • @GGSpotLOL you got to put eminem in that

  • @GGSpotLOL

    Most Meaning/Message = Tupac

not a pac dickrider just gotta add that though

  • @ayojoe11220 I could argue Rakim in terms of flow but for the most part I dont disagree

  • If Big L hadn't been murdered, I think he could have been better than Nas but Nas has the pedigree, that unfortunately L couldnt attain

  • @614sFinestENT Well, Nas discography is pretty wack allover. 2 good albums, well, L was way more consistent and Nas may not talk this crap.

  • @HerrFrietsaus 2 good albums? Illmatic, It Was Written, Stillmatic, God's Son, Lost Tapes, Hip Hop Is Dead, Untitled, and Distant Relatives are all great albums. Only bad Nas albums are I Am, Nastradamus, and Street's Desciple, and even those are better than probably 75% of the rappers out in the past 10 years.

  • @614sFinestENT There's really no way to tell. I mean to be honest, at the time they were about even. I think some people overrate Big L a tad now cuz he's not with us, just like they do Biggie and Pac. But he was still ill nontheless. Truth be told, had it been Nas that got killed back then, everybody would be talkin about Nas like that too.

  • @Antrizzle2009 I agree with you, Big L is a lil hyped up now, but that's what happens when stars like himself die. Either way, New York still runs hip hop and always will. For Nas, I think Illmatic was almost too good because everything after that just seemed like it didnt reach the level that Illmatic was at in terms of lyricism and influence. Big L would have dropped some amazing albums because when he died, in my opinion, he was just hitting his prime. Ebonics was raw as hell.

  • @614sFinestENT From a lyrical standpoint, I think It Was Written was just as lyrical as Illmatic. Tracks like I Gave You Power and Take It In Blood are as lyrical as anything on Illmatic. What threw alot of people however was the subject matter and many of the beats were very commercial sounding, thanks to Trackmasters. But anyway yea I agree L was just hitting his prime.

  • Shutup nas is the gratest lyricist of all time

  • cool

  • Great video man, i really did enjoy watching and seeing your opinions/facts to these Hip-Hop Legends. so sick.

  • seriously dude good looks on this video real talk shits dope man

  • Nas inspired Big L where did u get that from? Even if Nas would'nt become famous Big L would still do the same thing as he did

  • wow even though I have respect for Nas he's full of shit. he said one of the tracks he featured that it inspired Big L to write Devils Son but Big L made that song before he joined Colombie Records

  • @Sederos L sampled some lyrics from Nas for devils son. so yes Nas did somewhat inspire him
