I Am a dog whisperer Too, that dog bark was not an aggressive bark.
As You know by the owner holding the leash back with tension caused most of that. once she let go of the leash the dog was fine.
As Cesar says No touch, no talk, no looking at dog. That is what you did at 1st.
and you didnt show fear. Could an untrained person get bite, sure but owner said has bit, not every day biting. This is not a bad case. But could get bad if not fixed
@ libbusbrewer, I agree, looks like the expert (or whoever the poster is) have no idea if its a pure breed or not...pure breed neos weight anything from 165-195 pounds and the more wrinkles they have the more valuable they are (interms of show dog).
@MsGnorts if trained properly the dog will be rehabilitated. However, even though I can do this in one class, the owners can't , and they need some time to learn the techniques, body language, etc. It is a process.
Watching the beginning, this dog wasnt reacting from an aggressive point of view, this dog was fearfull, and insecure about who ever was approaching. This dog was reacting in defense, as if his life depended on it for his safety.. This dogs whole body language, was a great indicator where her state of mind was, fearfull
This dog wasnt protecting her owner, this dog was thinking of itself in this situation, and was reacting accordingly. Its very rare for a dog to come to its owners rescue.
Hi richard! how can I train a dog not to be agressive to other dogs? I'm not a trainer but i take care of 40 dogs who live in my university, i have never been bitten and have educated many of them. I have to, i take them to the vet. Problem is, a VERY sweet albino Pitbull arrived. He hasn't bitten anyone and isn't territorial.. But he was taught to fight. He arrived quite ill and now he's gotten a lot better. He licks and plays without using his teeth, but has bitten a couple of dogs. Any ideas?
you'd be surprised at how many Neo's I have trained in recent months that have huge agressive issues. They are just as proned to it as other breeds. However, because of their power and size it makes them much more dangerous than say, the most agressive breed I have encountered but people would never know it, The Chihuahua.

Now, the most important question: can teh dog revert to his aggresive behaviour?

@RichardDogTrainer
I thought so, it is a process that needs repetition until it becomes a habit. Scary dog at the beginning and then a gentler beautiful black dog. :-)

I had always been very sceptical in terms of using the "positive reinforcement" technique in cases of highly aggressive dogs, but it seems to work.

@Lega11yBrunette0 I agree I see a fearful dog as well. He was backing up, his ears were flattened and seem to want to make himself smaller.

That dog is a PoS nervebag and a horrible example of the breed... typical petstore scatterbred "Neo."
