Those were recorded with a VHS tape and an outdated version of a program called Handbrake. This was recorded straight to a DVD and encoded with the latest version of Handbrake.
Me and someone else who does time attacks on this game thought that maybe SDA would count a speedrun of this game according to real time, but strangely enough, if there's an in-game timer, they use that instead.
For some fighters, the time attack strategy would probably be the same, but the guys who rely on a bunch of stuns or Mac knockdowns would have to be changed around alot.
I'd probably have to find out how to add a timer to those videos though. Not sure how to do that.
Yeah, I could probably edit it to where it starts right with the ref saying "Fight!" to the TKO/KO animations (sometimes they don't play, so I could just stop it at the hit landing).
After testing some stuff out, surprisingly most of the fighter's strategies actually wouldnt need a change. Before we started using champs mode for certain guys, everyone had a good strategy which was fast in real time too. If someone needs a change, it's really minor (like ending a stun early).
The only 2 that would have a big change in time would be TD Glass Joe, since his entire strategy is during stuns, and TD Don Flamenco, since he has no KO through his infinite combo, stars may be faster.
In short, most of the fastest real time strategies would probably be ones not in champs mode (pretty sure all the fighters have been uploaded at least once without champs mode on youtube).
Oh, and in addition to TD Joe and TD Don, Contender Soda would change a tiny bit to not have the TKO recovery.
There is a TKO recovery strat... but it's an enormous pain in the ass to accomplish, as well as being about the same time as this strat (which is waaay easier to do)
Whoa, nice job! Looks a little hard because of the fact that if you dodge at the wrong time after the two intentional knockdowns you'll get knocked out.
Yeah, although if you're going for the time attack record, it's not going to make much of a difference if you're hit other than your career record taking a hit.
Soda Popinski just turn redder an redder, same as frenzy Don Flamenco

It would have been strange sitting in the audience, seeing five knockdowns in just over a minute.

I thought the red letter at the end said: 'You got a new bed time!'

Soda Popinski has my single favorite theme in the game. Especially the part that plays when he's trying to get up.

Wow, your video quality's a lot higher than your other speedruns. How'd you do it?

Intresting...

Hey Zallard, have you ever thought of trying to get the fastest time in these fights, using real time rather than the in game ticker?

I guess one way to do it would be to use the point when ref calls the start or end of a match.

The fact that the clock slows down at certain times has made getting records in this game require preposterous strategies.

I'm just now noticing that hook at 1:27, is that better than jabbing?
shunkolar 2 years ago
Yep, it saves a second or so if you end with a hook.
zallard1 2 years ago
Oh wow I never knew that, I'll remember that next time, thank you!

Still, I'll have to try it sometime.

True, but I like to keep that as it is. :P

Yeah, I'm surprised I keep finding nonsense in this game.
