Barbara and David P. Mikkelsen mentioned that Jávor-Seress composition received little attention until 1936, when it allegedly banned in Hungary, after having provoked a wave of suicide. From that started to play American musicians this melody, which several versions were recorded till the end of 1936, and became a worldwide success.
