  • I saw the 51 version when I was 8 LOVED IT, saw the 82 version when I was 19 and was amazed that it made me jump out of my seat not once but twice, and saw the new one, and said, "Oh cool, that's how that happened in the original." While still entertaining, the new one just felt like it was wanting to be a remake, but someone said, "No, make it a prequal" Not as entertaining as the 82, or even the 51 version. But still a good watch.

  • 1:04 and his diabetis

  • The original 1951 version is fantastic, you should make an effort to watch it.

  • The 1951 version because you cant beat the fifties.

  • PRESS 1 FOR BLACK AND WHITE THING JEREMY!

  • I thought both the 1982 version and the prequel were good, but of course the 1982 version is the best

  • I have to say the best THE THING is obviously THE THING because THE THINGS in THE THING are so much better then THE THINGS in the other two THE THING movies. : )

  • My favorite is the game "the Thing" because that was awsome!

  • I love the 1982 version of The Thing, but I also really enjoyed the prequel movie. I went in bracing myself for a crappy attempt to make money and was very happy that it stayed faithful to the 82 movie. I'm still waiting for a sequel called The Things (you know, like, "Aliens" but with the thing)

  • original thing is da best

  • I agree that some films can be dated, but still having an "its an old movie" bias is not a good way to go.

  • I've seent it.Its Great!!!

  • this is the best one!

  • i cant believe you watched the new one first.

you're ment to be this big movie review guy but you hadnt seen the Thing?

you talk like a damn speed freak.

    just stfu

  • @MAKER6450 piss off asshole your just being a dick.and if you saw the review of the 2011 one he saw this one first but he was drunk

  • @ttv0 oh you kiss ass.

i see all my movies drunk.....i typed that comment ansd this comment while intoxicated.

  • @MAKER6450 wow you tried to make it seem like you messed up on typing if you were drunk then how come nothing was messed up on your last comment?dumb ass

  • @ttv0 tryed to make it seem like i messed up?

    i didnt try do anything.

you're just thinking that because you're fukn mentaly ill

  • @MAKER6450 Didn't you watch his 2011 version review? Jeremy didn't mean to be this "big movie review" guy because he's just a normal guy sharing his opinions. In his 2011 version review he already stated out the reasons. He watched the 1982 version, but he's drunk and he forgot it. I mean dude it's 1982! It takes time for people to remember it. I barely remember it, I think I watched the movie back in the 90s where it's aired on the TV but I forgot the name. It takes time bro...

  • @pariastabendesa yes i did watch his 2011 review first.

he said he hadnt seen this one yet.....or he was drunk when he saw it

  • 82 version wayyyyy better

  • another film which is FUKIN AWESOME for its time is...........(big climax)............Jurassic Park!

  • the 1982 version.. the antitrust element was much more detailed

  • i seen only the modern Thing movies.

  • you Jeremy I'm surprised that you made no star wars japs.

  • This is the only scary movie I enjoy watching. It's totally awesome.

  • i stumbled apaun u a min ago and you r awsome

  • hmmm... i like the thing 2012 n the thing 1982 i think both are awesome but still the thing 1982 is more scary. so after-all i still choose the thing 1982 version.

  • Saw your review for both 1982 thing and the lateset.I saw the 1982 and it was epic but i did'nt see the latest one and don't want to.From your review its sounds like the newer one is the same shit as the 1982 one and made an ending to tie into the next.Very unoriginal.

  • my favories the thing

  • I havent seen any of the thing movies. I want to though.

  • Im in love with this movie.

  • i challenge you to count how many times he says "The Thing"

  • I like the The Thing it had great acting and so did The Thing. But The Thing? Uh-uh.

  • 1982 version hands down. The fact that there is no cgi and it's all make up and puppets kinda made it creepier for me. It had a darker more sinister feel I suppose. The new one had all that cgi and just felt more like a thriller/action movie. So, it wasn't AS creepy. still creepy though.

  • The CGI is this movie is pretty darn good.

  • @FlyingPaladin617 Correction: the CGI in the 2011 version is pretty good. My mistake.

  • 1982 John Carpenter's version with no doubt. I never saw the 1950 one but i saw the 1982 as a kid and it scared the living crap out of me. Everything is done perfectly right, with the suspense and mystery at its peek and way better than the 2011. The special effects and makeup was AMAZING for its time. I see it now and yes you can tell, but i much prefer it then the crappy CG they had on the new one. The new one was almost a direct copy of John Carpenters.

  • I like the 1982 and 2011 one's the best.As i saw the 2011 one first i was like i know how that got there or i know what happend here but the 2011 one does'nt have the creepyness of the 1982 one because its more jump out and attack in the 2011 one and in the 1982 one it was more slow and take your time to get them alone. All the same there great movies and would suggest them to anyone

  • Hey Jeremy have you read the book based of that film which is called Who Goes There? by John W. Campbell Jr. Is a short story but it's good. That's where the film The Thing came from. Check it out!! ^-^

I love all the version of The thing but I like more The Thing From Another World (1951) and John Carpenter's The Thing. Maybe the one from 1951 has its own touch is really good. It has less killing which is quite disapointing but I like it. Less is better.

  • @sakuratk While the John Carpenter version of The thing is really good too. I like it because is more based from the book which that doesn't have much for the 1951 film. anyway, one of the reasons I like the 1982 of The Thing is that the special effect of the thing is really awesome and how the people got so paranoid to know who's the Thing and who's not. And the best part was that Carpenter recreate the same presentation from the 1951 film which was awesome.

  • @sakuratk

The 1951 film was nothing like the original story, it wasn't the shapeshifter, it was just some killer vegetable vampire carrot being that cloned itself. 1951's movie was a very loose adaptation, 1982's movie remains the quintessential more faithful adaptation of the story and had the right technology.

  • @Johnlindsey289 Well...back in the 50's they didn't have the means (or the stomach) to produce the monster effects. Plus, there are some stories which as they are word for word, just can't make an effective movie unless you do what Hawks & Carpenter did which was based off the book.

  • 1982 and 2011 I love old style movies props and electric moving arms and tentacles and I love CGI I don't know why people are hating on CGI can one of you inlighten me???

  • Speaking of michael jai white... review Black Dynamite.

  • nothing beets the 1982 version

  • Hahaha I'm watching this on Christmas!!!

  • The Thing (1982) was the second film I bought on Blu-ray, behind Taxi Driver.

  • The 1982 movie is fucking amazing. The practical effects are still leaps beyond anything that CGI can accomplish with its fake-ass looking pixels (seriously, fuck CGI, I'm so sick of it), the story was great, the acting was great and the atmosphere was phenomenal. Carpenter's version is so far ahead of the remake and original that they're not even on the same fucking planet.

  • @dagrimmreepa You know what I'm sick of? Assholes like you whining about how 'bad' CGI is. There's a reason why it's used, dumbass. Get over it. And FYI, both the '82 version AND the new one are both awesome.

  • @FlyingPaladin617 THANK YOU!!

  • @adambomb528 YOU'RE WELCOME!!

  • @FlyingPaladin617 of course there's a reason why it's used: it's cheaper, takes less effort and less time to make. none of those reasons make it "better," you imbecile.

  • @dagrimmreepa No. The reason is because it looks better. So nice to meet you. Try not to get owned next time. Goodbye.

  • @FlyingPaladin617 lolwut? Fake shit looks better than the real thing? Are you high? Seriously though, what are you - 12?

  • @dagrimmreepa Did I not already tell you to fuck off? I mean, if you enjoy looking at fake ass animatronics over real looking CGI that's cool. No one's going to judge you for your small mindedness. Well, at least not me.

  • @FlyingPaladin617 real looking cgi is an oxymoron you idiot. fuck it, enjoy your transformers and other computer generated orgies. idiots make the world go around, after all. Oh and next time you wanna tell someone to stop replying, maybe you shouldn't attack them in the first place, cos I'm gonna troll the shit outta you.

  • @dagrimmreepa Idiots do indeed make the world go round as you are a prime example of idiocy and fail ;) Get owned.

  • @FlyingPaladin617 Wow... what a scathing comeback. That's pretty much on the level of "You suck..." "No, YOU suck." Just phenomenal cleverness right there *sarcasm*. But what else can I expect from an idiot who prefers computer imagery to the real thing.. it's like sitting a monkey next to a camera and expecting it to know what to do. Clearly I have to lower my expectations of your IQ even lower than I had initially thought.

  • @dagrimmreepa And here I thought I had seen retardation at its worst. You sir are clearly the biggest moron on the internet and that takes skill.... or lack thereof. Congratulations! You're an idiot. Owned, again ;)

  • @FlyingPaladin617 Cool. I'll take that as a victory, since you obviously don't have anything more to say. You always know you won an argument when the idiot you're talking to starts re-iterating the same shit and claiming victory, instead of actually making any points. Anyone can call anyone a moron on the internet, that takes NO skill, no wit, no imagination. You're starting to bore me... now say something clever, dammit. Try again, I'll pretend your previous lame-ass response never happened.

  • @dagrimmreepa LOL WHAT A LOSER! My comments are full of win and yours are full of fail. Is the butthurt loser getting mad because he knows he's wrong? Seems so. Enjoy your sad excuse of a life, faggot. Owned AGAIN! ;)

  • the effects in the 1982 movie looked extremely real, even compared to now,and much more frightning.

  • The Thing 1982 cause i know without a doubt it is the only movie that still disturb's me so much i only have seen it 3 or 4 time's cause other time's i was watching cartoons or something then i grew up and tried to watch it again but i was watching some more cartoons or whatever but then i seen i,t recognized all the actors and wanted to watch it. The effects were like a blob of disturbing visual delight for me, right now its less scary, i wont watch it till im ready to die (of a heart attack)

  • the 1982 version of the thing is badass, so i'm sticking with the movie that makes me scared. lol

  • This movie is THE definitive adaptation of John Campbell's novella Who Goes There where the 1951 version was a poor adaptation of the novella because of being in the cold war era and not having the right technology to make the monster the shapeshifter, it was nothing like the original story. Carpenter's version was truly faithful to the original story.

  • i love the 2011 version.

    Matthijs RULEZ!!!

  • This is my like 2nd or 3r favorite movie of all time, just surpassed by The Godfather and Scarface...

  • 82 for sure.

  • The '82 versions is my 2nd favorite movie of all time. I personally think that the special effects in it are still some of the best to this day. I don't really like CGI, it looks really fake to me, but practical effects you know it's fake but it still looks more realistic.

  • 1982!!

  • 1982 Version is the best, I love my 80's movies.

  • ANGRY BLACK GUY! Fucking great!!! Lol

  • I love when the thing ripped dat dudes arms off n it made me jump out of my pants

  • They really missed a trick with the new "The Thing" they should have had less CGI of The Thing and more suspense and tension between the Nords. Anyone planning a skiing trip by the way? Yes the resort has flame throwers.

  • It's funny at the end when he says that u could see more he was pointing down to himself:)

  • dude review the game the best horror game ever!!

  • I wonder if Jeremy knows of the 1953 film.

  • I love the actual original 50s version but that was a funny mockery u did of it.

  • You should review the 1951 version now. It is pretty good.

  • everytime i think of keith david i think of "AIM DOWN YOUR SIGHTS"

  • Not so much scary, just unbearably tense. The paranoia makes the movie. A genuine classic.

  • LMAO i though the same thing from 0:17-0:22

  • Is it weird that that this horror movie has 666 likes?

  • "There was on that came out in 1950...who gives a shit" LMAO XD

  • "I don't know what it is, but it's weird and pissed off!"- Kurt Russell

  • 1:25

  • Even though The Thing is good, it's not nearly as good as The Thing, and even though I haven't seen The Thing, The Thing is my fave! The Thing is just amazing, The Thing isn't as good, but still good.

  • i liked the transformastions

    kinda like resident evil 4

  • The prequel was a dumb idea, because seeing the aftermath at the Norwegian camp without actually knowing what happened helped add to the suspense.

  • im sorry I like the 1951 " The Thing from another world" the best. But I still love the '82 version. Its just there two VERY different films. The black and white is so creepy and the suspense with the B&W makes it even more creepy. The 1982 relays more on how gorey it is and not as much suspense. Its weird because im 14 so by law of sterotism i supposed to like stuff with gore and tits.well i do like tits.

  • i was so fucking confused throughout the hole fucking review

  • You make funny, I make laughy.

  • the new thing is crap but good at the same time but the 1982 is awsome and i was only 10 when i saw it, awsome man just awsome

  • You really shouldn't trash the original if you haven't seen it - this is coming from a guy who hasn't seen it. Some of the best movies I've seen are Japanese movies from the 50's and 60's though.

  • have you noticed each one came out 30 years after o.o

  • When he asked us if we wanted to see more, i hope he meant more of that chick

  • Why would someone put a gun to your head, then offer you a movie?

  • Thumbs up if u like The Thing better than The Thing or The Thing

  • I love your videos Jeremy, sorry about all the hae on the mayweather ortiz video

  • No one made a prequel before because WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU NEED ONE? "Hey, let's make a suspense movie that the audience already knows the ending to!" Brilliant. A SEQUEL would have made a lot more sense. I guess the writers of the new THING needed someone else to do the heavy lifting and hand them 90% of their plot.

  • @GoblinXXX or everyone was curious about what the norwegian team went through and answered questions

  • @albinomonkey27 Not "everyone". For most of us, it was pretty apparent what they went through.

  • @GoblinXXX i was and i mean exact details im weird like that

  • Review both of the dawn of the dead movies!!!!!!!!!!

  • Dude, its almost scary how much we think a like. It's like I'm thinking it an you actually say it...another good review from the double J-man.

  • review back to the future...

  • Review the original dawn of the dead (1978)

  • wait....... i think he was talking about me when he talked about the 1952 version..... LOLOLOL :D

  • review STARSHIP TROOPERS

    BEST MOVIE EVER

  • You should review the trailer to Chronicle.

  • i like the thing 1982

  • It wasn't scary when the guy does CPR on the Thing?

  • So you did get my link?

  • Why is thor being brought up in the comments?

  • I will see the 1950s one soon.

But I wonder which video I should attach it to. This review or the review of the new one?

Bleh, they aren't the same movie either way, so I won't attach it at all.

  • i dont know why but every time i see Keith David in a movie i always think " oh shit theres Winston from ghostbusters" i dont no why i just do

  • @MrJoeybeans81 I either think Spawn or one of the Gargoyles

  • 1982 baby allll day

  • I had never heard of the 1951 "The Thing" before this but after finding a copy at my local library I think I have a new favorite.

  • I love The Thing. 1982 Thing. Haven't seen 2011 Thing. 82 Thing is my thing.

  • hey, have you seen the trailer for "chronicle" ?

    what's your opinion?

i think this might be the first found footage movie i might actually enjoy!

  • Hey Jeremy, you know there's actually no need for Netflix. There's a thing called PirateBay and Bittorrent.

  • the black actor dude has a fake black hand midway through the movie.

  • 1:25 DERP FACE

  • I'm embarrassed to say I have not watched the 80's "The Thing". Should I watch the 2011 "The Thing" before I watch the 1982 "The Thing".

Or should I watch the 60's version of "The Thing" then the 2011 "The Thing" and then the 80's "The Thing"..... Say what?

  • fucking great movie

  • the one that i didnt see is my favorite wait that is them all

  • Thanks Jeremy for doing this review. This is my favorite John Carpenter movie of all time. I've watched this movie over 100 times. I thought They Live was tied into this movie, but it's not. The 1982 movie is the best one to me. The intro music does it all for me hands down. @bobbytf18. Yes i do agree the special affect are more genuine and was done very well for a 1982 movie.

  • Comment removed

  • You should try the game. It's pretty awesome as well!!! I have yet to see the new movie, but I love the 1982 version!!! It's awesome!!!

  • watch the ditto (fake trailer) from Smosh. It's a parody of the Thing

  • Not even the thing can face off against Wilford Brimley's Diabeetus....

  • Cerina Vincent....Power Rangers...flashbacks :)

  • 1992 Version, hands down.

The new version effects were awesome, but it lacked the originality of the old one.

Oh, and Commodore 64 still Kicks ACE!

  • I really liked the special effects and premise of the movie, but I felt no connection with any of the characters, and the little I did feel was in fact for Kurt Russel, but even sometimes, that was a bit distant. I dunno, maybe its cus I was trying to decide who was The Thing the entire time...

    I should go kill myself

  • Actually the entire Thing franchise was based off of a story called "Who Goes There?" by John Campbell.

  • My Favorite one of the three is: The Thing

  • Comment removed

  • aww i was expecting a higher grade i thought it was much better than the newer one but they got the same grade. the old one did everything better than the newer one even some of the effects looked more genuine

  • I wonder what happened to the female lead from the new (prequel) Thing.

  • The full title of the 1951 original is "The Thing From Another World", for anyone who's wondering.

  • Anything produced by Howard Hawks IS the best.... I mean JAMES ARNESS IS The Thing. It doesn't get better than that...

  • In my opinion it deserves a higher rating, but that's just my opinion ;)

  • Until the end of the video I thought he was talking about "It"

  • I just saw that today, a little cheese doesn't hold up. But at least the whole movie was not in 3d and the whole movie is in CGI.

  • Thor was kidna good it was really good but Thing is just something else

  • Please Review "A Clockwork orange"

  • Dude! I'm sorry, but FUCK YOU. You shit on the original because it's old and black and white?! What the fuck is wrong with you? Just because it's old doesn't mean it's a bad film. I prefer the 1951 version over all of them. 195-who gives a shit?! Go to hell.

  • @QuatermassMan Dude! I'm sorry, but you are overreacting so much, it's not even funny

  • @Explod1ngNinja It wasn't supposed to be funny.

  • @QuatermassMan ...He never said it was a bad film, do not jump to conclusions.

  • Now review the 1951 version. THE original.

  • I really like the newer "The Thing 2011" the lead actress is also one of my faves and I really like her in the films she does.

  • @BlondeSteve92 RAMONA FLOWERS

  • '82 baby!

  • awww, I expected the BOWA at the beginning :c

  • You gained more awesometacular points because you know who Michael Jai White is. You seen many of his movies?

  • 1951

  • I'm watching this video from the year 2054 and there is a new film coming out! It's called ''The Thing''!

  • Mmm thats a tough one because the 80s one is awesome. That was how I first discovered the Thing back when I was a kid. Thenew one is badass epicness. I think If I had to chose I would go with the new one.

  • The one in my pants.

  • Review Texas Chainsaw Massacre?

  • The movie is still scary and unsettling to me. Even though some of the effects are pretty dated, but even then they are still very chilling for me. I thought the film did a great job building atmosphere.

  • Dude i love you and all but.... seriously wear some color.... ur looking more and more pale.... sooner or later youll probably look as pale Edward [ but god forbid the personality]

  • I want to see more Jeremy reenacting black-and-white movies!

  • I wish they still made movies like that..... CG is not always the best option for horror movies.

  • This is one of my favorite movies

  • The thing is one of the best sci-fi horrors ever! I still have to see the next recent installment, but yeah. It was brilliant! And I love how they cut out the typical horror music durign when they're all tied up, taking those blood tests. You just hear the screaming. Far creepier than with music.
