  • cheers to people like you with good taste

  • Nice video...I love the car and I really appreciate your passion for it! They will never make cars that fun to drive...ever again!!! Drive safely and shift that little Comet with confidence!..:)

  • God I love my 64 comet! built for life!

  • What kind of exhaust is on this car? Can't be stock, sounds like glasspacks.

  • @tbirdboomer05 Dual 35 year old glass packs about 36"...

  • Very nice! Reminds me of the '66 Cyclone GT I had in '75 when I was 16 years old. 390 + C6 tranny. Cardinal red with black interior. Buckets. Floor shift. It even had the factory chrome valve covers that said "390 Cyclone GT" on them! It had 47K miles on it when I got it. Garage kept and looked showroom. Had dents in the back from getting rear-ended but was cherry otherwise. 500 bucks. Kept it for four years & sold it for 400. Gas crisis... Anyway, thanks for the nostalgia!!

  • @localcrew Thanks for that GREAT note! Those were the times - $500 would get you a helluva COOL ride! I'll mention the nice Judge cvt or Boss 302 a co-worker had for a summer back in th late '70s - $3000 apiece...

  • Listen to that 289 grunt! Beautiful sound

  • you are really good at riding the clutch.

  • @MangoSmoothie16 "Riding the clutch" is the act of neither releasing the clutch nor engagaing it fully. I may "double clutch", and I do "cover the clutch pedal" Ride I do not.Ck out my vids again. Enjoy!

  • @4spdBernie i meant cover the clutch pedal. i always heard it you could apply pressure not knowing it and excessively wear the clutch. but you probably know know more about it than me

  • wow your videos are great looks like you have alotta fun

  • @outdoorsman310 Gotta make up for those 5 days of between the weekends!

  • nice car. i have a 65 that my grandfather bought new.

  • @bvlind Thank you. You're very lucky - that '65 is a great body style.

  • Awesome video!

  • Loved it! We had a 66 Caliente that I learned to drive in

  • @flight69twa You are very welcome. These are F-U-N cars! The original owner's brother and sister learned to drive in this Cyclone. No accidents but several tickets... Thank you for the note.

  • A friend in high school had one of these bought new 289 4bbl with 3 speed cruise o matic.

  • thank god a good friggin vid u see all of these guys babying these things and this is how they are supposed to be driven

  • Funny, reminds me alot of my 1965 Mustang 289. I remember my friend had a 1969 Z/28 and he couldn't believe how I could keep up with him in my primered Mustang! Some interesting observations, that shifter is very similar looking to how mine was, my knob was exactly the same but it was black. My ignition switch and heat/vent controls looked similar, and the engine sounded just like that. Previous to that, I never knew 289s wound like that, but they do!

  • Nice Comet. That was/is a nice car. Brings back some nice memories of my 260 Caliente. My dad was an L-M dealer and these were decent, affordable, fun cars.

  • @woosailor Hello again! Yes - these cars are still affordable - great way to relive those GREAT memories.

  • @woosailor Yeah as 260's go they are fun to buzz around the town... right between a 300 I6 and a 289. I know they were fun in the Sunbeams!

  • Wow she's a beauty and that 289 sure winds out nice. I love it

  • Thank you! It's a lotta fun!

  • @4spdBernie More than welcome...

    Cheers

  • Just restored a 64 Cyclone. The 289 that was in it was all frozen from sitting so long so I put a 351W and mustang II front suspension on it with rack and pinion steering. The rest of the car is restored to stock. I love the sound of yours! That 289 has an amazing exhaust note!

  • Hello and thank you. I bet yours handles super slick - and that 351 gives you plenty o' go power!

  • That looks fun.

  • That it is!

  • Nice one owner Cars allways are nice most of the time and all factory original nice too see the one owner ones like my 68 Polara 500. Thanks for posting :D

  • Hello! More vids like this on the way - stay tuned. Thank you for the note.

  • what a find! I love your channel, and specifically this car. There are too many walk-arounds and slideshows on youtube and not enough people thrashing on the cars.

  • Thanks for the note. You are so right! Stay tuned for more "test drives" - where tire smoke is often not an option...

  • That is a great car & my all time favorite! I have owned a 64 Cyclone for over 30 years. I love the sound of a good 289. Keep the videos coming.

  • Hello - great to hear from you! Very fun cars! Thanks for the note. More vids - yes - as soon as the weather improves! Let's see yours here on the 'tube!

  • Sounds like pure muscle; nice.

  • Wow! Great video! It really felt as if I were in the car with you guys! THANK YOU

  • You are VERY welcome! I wish you a GREAT 2011!

  • Funny as heck & love the sound. Thumbs up!!

  • Thank you! If you love the sound you need to ck out the world famous Bullitt Chase here on the 'tube!

  • even though it is a ford product

that is what every car should sound like! and this would be a sleeper back in the day you cant get sleeper cars today all the good muscly cars look like muscle cars and the others look like crap and dont realy deserve a suped up v8

  • It's no Pontiac but damn it's sweet

  • Rob, that's, SA-WEEEET!

  • @4spdBernie But it's a Ford so I can't get that enthusiastic about it...at least not in public

  • Got it. OK, mum's the word.

  • Hello :)

I always love your "test drive" videos... Keep them coming, please :D

  • Hello and thank you for the note! Ahhh, the ROAD TEST - yes, seems to be too much fun to be legal...

  • That's what a car should sound like! Not one of those four banger econo boxes with a coffee can muffler. Thanks for posting!

  • You are welcome! Ck out famous Bullitt chase scene if you haven't already for more aural overstimulation...

  • @4spdBernie I thought that double clutching sounded a bit familiar.....

  • Thought you'd enjoy that! Mr. McQueen was one fast driver but he was gentle on the equipment - well, usually...

  • @4spdBernie Just picked up a book, McQueen's Machines. Very interesting read, about all the vehicles he owned and where they are now. He was one hell of a guy.

  • Nice sounding mufflers, glass packs I bet? I used to run cherry bombs duals luved the sound.....

  • Thank you - glad you enjoyed! Yep - dual cherry bombs - from the mid 70's...

  • @4spdBernie I like the sound of that 289 through those Cherry Bombs just as you get close to redline. Wasn't the Cyclone Mercury's answer to the little Fairlane 500? I guess you could have called it a baby Marauder.

  • Hi Mike! Glad your ears enjoyed!

  • Can you tell that car is under powered with that small engine with as big of a car it is compared to some of the other bigger engined cars that i have seen you drive ?

  • Hello,

Well, there is no substitute for cubes, but in such a light car this 289 4bbl is plenty fun!

  • That's a nice car.

  • Hello and thank you for the compliment. Of the 7454 1st year Cyclones built, not many originals have survived. Very fun car - I can't drive it w/o a big smile!
