Don't people remember their driving lessons? Pull over to the left and stop whenever you see an emergency vehicle with lights or sirens activated and do not proceed until the vehicle has passed.
The coppers should have treated the red light as a stop sign anyways, but I'd put money on the fact that the woman was negligent.
It's always dangerous for Police cars to bypass red traffic signals, even with light and sirens.

red lights here are triggered by weighing grids in the road.
australia government is too cheap to care about world class road systems.. . too much short sightedness and cheap jobs being done.
In my street the road in the last 3 years has had potholes filled in 5 times.
In stead of putting bitumen over a new stretch and saving them selves coming back next 6mths... they'd rather just fill in one pot hole..
