1:14 the EV1 did NOT fail to take off - the car company didn't want to sell them EVEN WHEN a group of drivers turned up with a check to buy all 74 (I believe) cars that it had ... they instead said NO and CRSUHED THEM the same hour.
Why?
Because two tirds of a car manufacturers income come sfrom selling spare parts, and with an electric car - you don't need spare parts.

why not make the roof of your car a solar energizing one so that you can charge a low powered battery even when your travelling or just parking it at home

TaLk about the Electric Market being slow to take off ....I designed these Seakatah motorcycles last year & I guess people want to pay high gas prices & pollute the World some more because I cannot even sell one so far

"if there was a powercut..." as if the gasoline car doesn't use electricity. I'd rather worry about decentralized electricity, than monopolized petroleum _and_ keeping up the battery. Besides, I can generate electricity, but I can't make gasoline, and biodiesel is alright, but creates heat, noise, smells, and of course grease stains. I would donate a kidney for a Sumo bike. Cheers!
