I just wanted to say a quick think you on this video. I am a fairly intelligent educated Women so I figured I can take this tape apart and place it back on the reel ( it broke right next to the reel at the beginning). but of course I took it apart up side down and these 3 pieces fell out on me!! My spring was a little different in this tape but once I saw how the pieces went in i was able to place that with out a problem. Thanks for helping me save a family home video!!
Excellent video, I had dismantled the tape and that piece fell out. Could not work out how to put it back in, and sure enough the tape would not play. Your video saved my tape and my sanity!
When I play my video tape in VCR. All it shows is just scratches, black and white. But I can hear the music when I play it and rewind the tape or fast forward it. There is a crack on the lens one side of the window, but i replaced that with scott- tape and still it shows the scratches. My other video's are some what good still, just don't know about this one tape that I have. Is there anyway that I can repair it?
Everything is fine, just is the scratches that I don't know how to fix.
@Vikki003 Hi. Sorry I didn't get back to you more quickly. It sounds like the magnetic tape may be physically damaged. One thing you could do to confirm is to open the tape like I described in this video and examine the tape looking for lengthwise scratches. Also look for any foreign materials inside that might be loose and damaging to the tape, particularly where the tape spools around a post to continue in a different direction. If it is physically damaged, not much can be done to fix it.
Thank you for this video, that little piece that fell out, was exactly what happened to mine and this answered what I needed to know to put it back. Good job.
thanks a lot sir
