Doesn't anyone remember that the original "Nightmare at 20,000 ft." was done in black & white in the original twilight zone episodes, done also VERY WELL by a guy named "WILLIAM SHATNER"? Jeez!!! Now I feel old!
I, personally love the Twilight Zone movie. Of course, 'Nightmare at 20,000 Feet' is my favorite story, but I simply love 'Kick the Can'. It's magical, and speaks to the child within (it's a bit like Peter Pan). And, I think that it is true to the Twilight Zone spirit, which wasn't only about the scary and unusual, but about the magical, whimsical, and wonderful as well. The Twilight Zone is not always a nightmare, it's about imagination, and anyone who's seen the show, knows that.
you would think that siskel and ebert could make the biggest movie of the history of mankind.........they seem that they could.. they sound like they are experts..wonder if they could of done that????? they are so douche! I fully enjoyed this movie every one of the episodes...thats why they call it entertainment!!!!
This was actually a good movie, I thought. A little eerie viewing it knowing that Vic Morrow and two kids were killed making it. But the last episode was great, and John Lithgow was absolutely wonderful.
@SmackNcrack01, yeah, I was kind of wondering about that. I suppose that they decided to ignore the tragedy altogether, otherwise then they would feel, if they mention it, then they need to say something about the tragedy, or then about the director, or then about the trial, etc... So maybe they decided to just say, hey, we will talk only about the movie itself. But at the time everyone was talking about the tragedy and the trial.
Never listen to someones opinion of a film, always watch it yourself. These 2 seem fearful to praise any film and its often painful to hear them slap down good movies. The twilight zone movie is very much worth a view. The kick the can (Spielberg) part that they bash is actually very touching and inspiring.
I'm surprised that no mention was made of the accident onset that killed Vic Morrow and two children. The movie has long been forgotten, but that horrible accident will never be forgotten.
I always seem to turn on this movie late whenever it is on. As a result, I never saw "Time Out" until I watched it on You Tube last year, but I have seen the other segments, and I'll admit that Kick the Can just did not work for me after one viewing of it. Yes, it's very sweet and sentimental, but its a bit sappy. I LOVED Nightmare at 20,000 Feet - it actually made me laugh! I also did not like "It's a Good Life" after more than one viewing.
i think the movie was good they r right spielberg the best of the directors did make the worst story but i dont know what the point is 2 these 2 guys every1 is entitled 2 there own opinions these guys acted like such snabs they werent even likeable i dont know y people care so much about them they shouldnt have gotten payed 4 being so stupid sry people just how i feel
Yeah, Stephen Spielberg is incredibly overrated. Don't get me wrong, I liked some of his films, but I just don't think he's as great as he's known to be.
Same goes for James Cameron. Terminator 1 & 2, Aliens, pure awesomeness. Now, Titanic? Ugh, too lovey-dovey, and the Abyss was boring as hell. People are saying how amazing Avatar will be, well all I've gotta say is that it looks good, but I have a feeling it's gonna style over substance, which sucks cause I was hoping for it to be his comeback
His character "Bill" is sent back to Vietnam and witnesses a US helicopter attack on a village and two Asian children are alone and about to be killed. His humanity is finally awakened and he rushes to their aid and tries to carry them to safety. I think at that point he was supposed to return to his own time haven redemed himself. The accident occurred on that sequence so it was scraped. The ending of the film was the one originally intended by John Landis in fact, he was advised "lighten it".
my fave segment was about the kid with powers. striking imagery in that one. 'kick the can' was a bit condescending, as spielberg is known for being sometimes.
This was a great bit, where they bookended the movie with Akroyd. The Brooks & Akroyd bit in the beginning has them driving down a highway at night, and Akroyd asks Brooks, "Wanna see something REALLY scary?" They he turns into a monster. At the end, Lithgow is in the ambulance & Akroyd is driving, and Akroyd asks, "So you got quite a scare up there?" "Yes," replies Lithgow. To which Akroyd says, "Wanna see something REALLY scary?"
IMO..kick the can is based on a classic TZ episode and I thought it was sweet & touching (ok a little sappy too) Of the 3 other stories the gremlin on the wing is now iconic- amazing acting by John Lithgow..the John Landis directed story was the eeriest but only because the lead actor in it accidentally died during filming..the cartoon one is the worst- confusing & annoying. Interesting..dont remember the intro they talk about with Albert Brooks & Dan Ackroyd but I havent seen the film in years
In their defense, Siskel and Ebert LOVED Scatman in Zapped!

It would be cool if Jack from The Shining came flying in from around the corner and buried an ex in Scatman's chest
