  • Latest German invention: Feed-in tarifs

This allows everyone in Germany to make money by feeding his energy surplus from the solar panels on his roof top right into the nationwide electricity grid.

  • Makes me think we're not all fucked.

  • Solar energy is increasingly becoming a popular method for generating power. It is cost efficient thus more and more people are relying on renewable energy sources. In addition it will also reduce our dependence on fossil fuels which contribute to global warming. Pacific Crest Transformers manufactures energy efficient liquid-filled distribution transformers for a wide range of industry verticals.

  • SCHEISSE

  • In the region Puglia, conservative region of the catholic South of Italy, young people have formed a new party called Left Ecology and freedom with a gay President,he wins the regional elections and now he is president of the region Puglia.

  • haha great!

  • Freiburg is such a relaxed city- and surrounded by green! You should all come and enjoy hiking or skiiing in the blackforest and also get to know the sustainability programs we run here... not everybody lives in such houses, but nearly everybody is aware of environmental issues in that city! and thats just awesome!

  • @JulchenTanzt

Looks very interesting. I would like to see this type of cities to be build in Australia, especially that in Australia we have so much sun.

  • I want my roof to look like that, filled with solar panels. Greetings from sunny Jamaica.

  • Human had created the longest oil pipe so why not creat the longest air compressor that shall make free energy? Solar power/electricity combined with air compressor that will make free energy.

  • Interesting!!!I heard about this before!!

    Luna is sweet...

  • i live in freiburg :D yeaah

  • WTF? There is also a lot of sunshine there? xD -in Asia???!^^

  • Freiburg role model!

  • freiburg ist sooooo beautifull!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Want to live there, arf

  • Uch liebeb Freiburg !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • *****

  • That is an eco friendly and promising technology! i hope they can make it more economical..

  • da wohne ich doch

  • das reporter is hot.

  • It's your outlook that's ugly, malbert34.

  • Deutschland #1

  • Aiight!! Freiburg Rules!! ^^

  • Next logical step would be the electrical car and other forms of transportation. They could serve two functions;

    1 mobility (duh!)

2 act as a buffer to eliminate the powergrid fluctuations.

The biggest advantage of solar and wind energy is imo the decentralisation, making the net more reliable.

I do hope prices of panels will drop.

Imagine half of the roofs covered with PV panels, most motorized vehicles running on electricity.

All first world countries should follow this example.

  • I have Solar Energy free guide ..

  • Ball Sphere solar panels :capture and allow for more direct surface area panel exposed for sun light to penetrate unto. Light rays can hit all day with no need for moving panels around for better direct focus of light. Maximum light surface area on a solar sphere of solar panels are just more productive.

  • They are very efficient when direct sun beams hit them.

However, in countries where it is clouded most of the time they don't work that well.

  • Go Germany!

  • ich liebe freiburg!!!

  • My neighbor would go crazy over this! His entire house runs on Solar =P

    Brilliant video!

  • 2300 euros per squar meter?!!! thats absolutely rediculous who would live in that. most people could probably afford a house the size of a bathroom with those rates

  • its in europe, not in poor america.

  • haha i live there too

  • Vauban!

  • Unfortunately the only reason why it can be done is the prices are "set by the government." It's actually sold at a net loss to consumers because the price is so enormous and the supply so low.

If it can be increased to 15% it's still pitifully low and won't compensate for the increase in fossil fuel due to the missguided nuclear phase-out in Germany (which is why Germany is building coal-fired plants not shutting them down).

It's a red haring unfortunately. An expensive one.

  • Well yeah, but since fossil fuels are finite we should get used to these kind of ideas. I think this concept is great.

China is facing real environmental problems and if they start using solar technology on a large scale (due to lack of alternatives), prices could fall considerably on a global scale.

  • isn't this the Vaubau Viertel ?

  • Ok I´ve already made up my mind, I´m going to Freiburg this summer :D I´m from Sweden by the way

  • freiburgerbier ist auch Öko ;)

  • yeahh meine stadt haut rein ^^lol

  • Germany is great! Everybody should look at us!

    Peace!!!
