  • best song ever written by vince. and i'm glad he did it for depeche and not one of his other projects...

  • This song is begging for Dave to go for a spin with the mic stand

  • 30 years ago...and sound so fresh

  • its been 30...fucking...years. still cant believe it.

  • I still after 30+ yrs still listen to this album once a week normally. O_O

  • Vince Clark is like that idiot who quit the Beetles before they got famous.

  • @BiteMyCrank69 Ahh wouldn't say that, Sure he went on to Become very successful with Yazoo & Erasure, then there's all his production work, Sure Depeche Mode wouldn't have made the same music with him still around as Martin Gore took over songwriting duties... Get yer facts straight!

  • @gillo69 Well said!

  • @BiteMyCrank69 Hahahahaha...thats funny.....by the way...it's spelt 'Beatles' and I dont even like them!!!!

  • @BiteMyCrank69 if your talking about Best he didnt leave he was kicked out of the Beatles, and Im glad Vince left because I dont think the DM would have been as big with him, because Gore took the band into the future, with Clark in the band, they would would have probably wound up in the mid eightys like most of the other synth pop bands, Gore took them on further and as a result they became great.

  • this is the best, cleanest version i've seen so far - vince, dave, andy and martin at their best. saw this line-up only once - awesome

  • One of the greatest groups of all time, over 100 million records sold. One could only wish to have a small percentage of that success.

  • No1

  • Gahan looks like a skinny punk.

  • @Hot80s That's because shortly before this he was ;-)

  • LET"s GO :)

  • Чувства через край, Depeche Mode!!!

  • omg, they are so young. Am I that old?

  • OMD!

  • Classic! Awesome.

  • Love this!!!! Pants are a bit high but it's a classic all the way around!

  • Yup!...It's been 30 YEARS since then...LOL

  • One of the main reasons why i love DM is they wern't full of shit, they really could pull it off

  • OMFG is Dave a baby here!

  • clearly vince`s signature in this song, greaaat

  • OMG...ÚRISTEN!!! mit műveltek ezek a srácok 1981-ben!!??

  • Dave looks like Rick Astley :) LOL

  • @manfromthe80s

    LOL Rickrolled!!!!!!

    He looks fucking brilliant!!!!!

  • @manfromthe80s I think you'll find Rick Astley looks like Dave Gahan!

  • @manfromthe80s Rick Astley looks like Dave

  • @manfromthe80s I think Astley looks like Dave, because astley got started later, I guess.

  • such a catchy but strange song at the same time. It was great to see them preform this 30 years later

  • wow, wow, wow, wow, this is amazing, creative, odd, unusual, artistic, bizarre, love it, this has just got to be re-released

  • Beautiful!!! Tnx for this!

  • @beepollen1 Yes, this was the year my mom graduated from high school, so they're about the same age - not exactly a relevant fact, but I find it interesting that they were my age here. Heroin does seem to get the best of them; thankfully he didn't let it get the best of him ultimately, seeing as he's still alive and apparently still putting on some great shows.

  • They were so young and cute.

  • The Time with Vince Clark was good...

but Alan turned them into the Band they are now - Living Legends

  • @Zebo112 Absolutely .You have just said it all .I feel like they have always been a part of my life .Just brilliant .They get better and better.

  • Vince Clark looks like Hutch... Search up Hutch on youtube, there like twins

  • Photographic pictures... this is great. Thank you for sharing this.

  • I take...pictures....pornographic..i mean, photographic pictures.

  • my favourite Mode track. cheers!

  • HEY WEH-THIS WIV VINCE HE LEFT BEFORE BROKEN FRAME

  • 29 years ago today!

  • Excellente cette vidéo !!! Faut que je l'ajoute à mon blog sur la musique Synthpop des années 80

  • This is them at their best early in their career...its raw....the drum machine is amazing....simple but highly effective.....This was on a short lived programme Something Else....which began in the Punk days.....the song has a classical influence and could almost be played by violins and string section instruments

  • yes

  • was at the Anarchy Library tonight and this came on, was so awesome

  • yes he did there first 2 albums ,,, amazing synth

  • i never new shia lebouf sang this song!!

  • @russelli1 hahahahaha shia lebouf

  • nice drummachine and a very nervous dave :)

  • I really like their early stuff...Thanks for posting this performance.

  • This is probably one of the coolest songs ever

  • top!

  • bright light........dark room.........

  • Oh my god , i want be back !!!

  • i would always listen to this on my sony walkman on the way home from school on the bus in the cosy winter lead up to christmas. it always reminds me of christmas when i hear this fab song 5/5 brill

  • Wie geil ,Gänsehaut, meine Jugend seufts

  • Let's Go :) I just love it :)

  • Dave Gahan is the man.

  • I take pictures!!wonderfull papi Gahan & L. Gore

  • @Thehiedraofpoison69 And papi, Vince, too.

  • idade da pedra

  • VINCE GENIUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Maybe I'm old, but this looks like yesterday, or every 100 haircuts from my youth. With a video like this you can see how DM went from ordinary guys to mega stars. By the time I first saw them live, '86 or '87 they were much darker, antimated, and performing the biggest venues.

  • "I TAKE PICTURES"

  • Is this with Vince Clarke ?

  • @Wehategod Yes it is

  • @gillo69 indeed

  • @Wehategod no fuck

  • Yes, on the right side.

  • @Wehategod

Does it look like Alan Wilder? JK bro. Yeah thats vince.

  • @Wehategod yes and no, yeah vince was in depeche when they formed but obviously aint now, this is when he wrote the songs, although i think martin gore writes better tunes.

  • @Wehategod Yes with Vince Clark

  • @Wehategod YES

  • @Wehategod yes you can see him at 0.17

  • I love this song!!! looks at contemporary. Like it was some 10 years ago. But! It was 30 yeas ago! Think

  • This was before Dave discovered what a great dancepartner the michrophonestand is. ;-)

"Middlegood" version of one of my favorite Depeche Mode-songs.

  • unikat ...the best song synth-pop lat 80

  • tok! tok! tok! tok!

  • kwintesencja techno pop

  • .... if u like depeche mode, u will like their first hit record... whit vince clark

  • An early 80's song that seems to come from the future. Dm where so groundbreaking in their early years and then evolved to be one of the most influential an talented bands of all time. They made their music immortal. My favs above all.

  • @gillo69

A poor quality version of Tora Tora can be found from the same performance in Liverpool I think. Search for Tora tora and Liverpool 1981..

  • @cofarr01 Thanks very much for that mate ;-)

  • @cofarr01 I think this is a telly appearance from Something Else in 1981...I actually had the whole 2 piece set recorded on Vhs format...You are right the other song was Tora Tora Tora. T.c

  • @cofarr01

I've acctually seen that performance in WAY better quality

  • I think they also did Tora tora tora on this show, could you upload it please?

  • @cofarr01 Don't have it

  • @gillo69

A poor quality version of Tora Tora can be found from the same performance in

  • I met Alan Wilder last night at the Recoil after show. Best gig of my life and he is such a nice bloke...what a night to remember!

  • Very good but the Live in Hamburg version is still the best in my opinion

  • esta roliya mekay ke si les kedo shingona....

  • Probably their most underrated song!

  • Very good version!!!!

  • VINCE CLARKE ...GÊNIO

  • Not bad sound for a live performance with early synths ...

  • Who would have guessed they become a cult band... they look so innocent n_n

  • It is the best version IMO too, they did the fast version live quite a few times. Much better than the slower album version. Thanks for the upload.

  • @1981analog This ver is absolutely dynamite and think they were really ahead of its time with the one , rough synths sound incredibly well ;hmmm I wish " Speak & Spell " would contain the one version.hmmm

  • @1981analog Great version. The audience is so polite that they stay quiet 'til the end, so you can hear the music better.

  • love you, boys!

  • OWESOME :D

  • Vince is the master

  • @zicoskywalker Vince is a genius. They were very lucky to find Alan thereafter.

  • The Instrumental is online :) Watch my channel :) hope you enjoy :)

  • Wanted : Reel of this song

  • My Instrumental of this version would be ready in the next days :)

  • Vaya que lindos y jovenes se ven D bueno se ve el video esta bueno de esos bellos años!

    Saludos!

  • they're look so innocent...oh good old times ...i wished to be there in England then...

  • I wish they wud do more old stuff live sometimes

  • @ Oakesy68, Tell me about it mate, i seen em here (In Dublin) in 2006 and they played this, But December last the oldest we got was the Music For The Masses stuff & Stripped

So much of their stuff from 81-85, in my opinion, Too many classics in there to disregard for live shows

  • @gillo69 There best stuff is from Speak & Spell and A Broken Frame, shame on them for not playing that!

  • @oakesy68 The past is about Vince and Alan, and they are gone.

  • eee when they zoomed in on dave's face his eyes look gorgeous! i love them!!!!! they are always amazing live!!! baby mode!

  • I miss those times when they played both with Vince ! Stunning vid !

  • Oh, I need an instrumental of this very live version... This is EPIC!

  • I make an instrumental of this version :)

  • Cool, could you upload it? Or perhaps send it to me?

  • I upload it when its ready :)

  • Ah, well, I'll be waiting for it. Should be pretty awesome. =D

  • Me aswel man ;-)

  • WOAH, now THAT was an AMAZING synth! Friggin AMAZING!!!

  • awesome! and few days before my birthday:-)

  • in my oppinion, one of the best frome speak and spell

  • Totally cooooool....I feel so young again...!!!!

  • This is great! Sounds just like the "Some Bizarre Album" version, which to me is alot better than the commercial single!

  • yeah, its a baby Dave... fabulous his whole life!!!

  • baby!!

  • Always a pleasure to see Vince Clarke in a DM-video.
