Taliban are stupid. They're not going to win a toe-to-toe gun battle with the UK or US Marines. If they want a fighting chance they must learn from the Vietcong's guerilla tactics during the Vietnam War. Still though, I don't see them winning much of anything as long as the United States and United Kingdom are willing to send their troops, who are better equipped and much-MUCH better trained fighters. This was a brutal regime who were themselves placed in power by foreign influence of Pakistan and Saudi against the popular Ahmad Shah Massoud government (murdered 2 days before 9/11 as they knew there would be reprisals). The name means "students" but refers to students of Islamic schools in Pakistan. The did and do treat women with utter brutality. This is an extremely complex history.

About history: I come from military family too. My grandfather fought in SS Wiking and Im reserve lieutenant in FInnish army and I know pretty much about WW2. In battle of Stalingrad Soviets lost around 500 000 men and Germany lost 700 000 men. Soviet Union used Germans blitzkrieg tactic and crushed the flanks and encircled the stalingrad. Boy I bet they had wished they had been able to call in some air support like a couple of attack helicopters to clean out these Taliban "cowards" who dress in civilian clothes. I was talking to one of our Australian commandos who had just come back from Afghanistan and he was telling me how during firefights when the Taliban are on the run one of their favourite tactics is to burst into a house and grab the nearest baby or small child to cradle in their arms. Also Chinese military budget is about 5x times bigger than British.

@0091Eng Ive been lucky that I have had a chance to see Chinese army training and I can tell you that these are facts
- China has very good Mountain and Jungle warfare
- Chinese soldiers has very good discipline, they will do anything what they are told to do and they dont questionable their officers commands
- Also Chinese army basic training is much better than British and USA:s and thats a sad fact.
- Chinese are probally world best closecombat soldiers. Basic training includes jujutsu.

About history: I come from military family too. My grandfather fought in SS Wiking and Im reserve lieutenant in FInnish army and I know pretty much about WW2. In battle of Stalingrad Soviets lost around 500 000 men and Germany lost 700 000 men. Soviet Union used Germans blitzkrieg tactic and crushed the flanks and encircled the stalingrad. But your forgetting Vietnam war, Operation Mogadishu. Did those Operations/wars succeed?

Iraq was a preemptive strike; the issue of sovereignty is questionable, but then again, the world as a whole do not want WMDs in any countries that do not already have them. As for Libya, Gaddaffi was an asshole; pretty much the entire Middle East supported the intervention, and it went through the legal channels of the UN. NOBODY opposed, tho 5 countries abstained

There was no genocide or invasion of another country,, so the UN should not have gotten involved. Regardless, it was a UN resolution, not a US decision. The resolution was proposed by France, Lebanon, and the UK, and supported by pretty much everybody. Not saying that justifies it, but i dont understand why u think the US got involved with selfish intentions...

Maybe this is a stupid question, i don't know. But how do they know when they are fighting the Talibans? Do they have like shirts were it says "Taliban army" or could it just be locals shooting at the british soldiers? You know, pissed people that don't like foreign troops. Or could it be that you become a Taliban without even knowin it yourself at the very same moment you shoot at the foreign troops. They can survive 7 days without fucking water or food. And if you give them somekind of dangerous mission to do, they will die for that mission.
And Russian soldiers. They probally really hope for war, because its fucking hell to be in Russian army training. So I would say Russian and Chinese soldiers are the best.
