  • i have a DCR-SX45E ))

    this cam has 70x

  • Where can u pause?!

  • @ItsRennyy This camera does not have a "pause" Its always on pause, kind of, every time you hit the record button, you create a video clip, when you hit it again it finishes the clip.

  • I have 3 hd cams , pocket cams, they look great , but I keep this one around for the zoom, and macro, the flip IMO , is the best hd pocket model, but has no macro, none, this Sony will focus on a pixel on my monitor, picture looks bad also IMO when full screened, lines, and tearing

  • hey nice video! i have a dcr-sx44 but its basically the same thing. How do you record and save videos on to an sd card that is submitted in the sd slot?

  • @grahambo7 Go into the menu, into media settings, then choose movie media set, then choose memory card.

  • Can this cam put fisheye on it?

  • @AzraeiSk8Vids No, this model does not have filter threads to screw a wide eye into.

  • @AzraeiSk8Vids i have the same camera. what i did was glue the spacer ring on the front of the camera. then you can put on the fisheye and take it off easily and whenever you want. look at my videos too see the fisheye. its on most of my videos!

  • Hi! I have a question i don't know if you ever had this problem before but why when I record for a long time or not even...lets say one 30min to one hour.....the image becomes blurry...the camera gets hot also...i have to blow some air or shake it a little bit so the image becomes better...is that normal?

  • @DJMANNY10 No that is not normal, unless you are in a very hot climate or you let the camera sit in direct sunlight for hours. I have run this camera for several hours and at most it got warm. Your camera has probably got a defect, is it out of warranty?

  • @Getawaymoments

Thats what i though...a defect...well i gotta check if i bought a warranty from best buy or im still covered with sony. Thanks for ur advice

  • how do you get the quality to be so good? please tell me

  • @cooldude100ism No secrets, any particular questions? I could talk all day about how to make your videos look good, any specifics?

  • @Getawaymoments i have the sx 63 but whenever i take a video and import it the damn thing becomes physically small and the quality SUCKS!!!! and every time i import it into after effects the comp is small :(

  • @cooldude100ism Two ideas, first have you checked your cameras record quality setting, it is possible to record on a very low quality which may explain small box. If thats not the answer, it must be your import settings or project settings. Hope this helped.

  • @Getawaymoments i sound like a noob but how do i check if my cameras record quality settings

  • @cooldude100ism My sister in law has that camera now, but it is in the menu. Look for HQ or high quality. Unfortunately, I do remember that Sony did not use the quality descriptions many of us are used to now, like 480, 720, 1080, ect ect.

  • @Getawaymoments ok ive done that but it still doesnt solve my problem. i have a video put up in my channel it helps you understand my problem better :(

  • @cooldude100ism O.K. I don't know after effects but i'm wondering if your grabbing a thumbnail instead of the full resolution file. Check that.

  • @Getawaymoments umm...i dont understand

  • @cooldude100ism OK, I have not uploaded anything from this camera in a long time but I think each clip the camera creates has a thumbnail with the video file, see if you can break it down and find only the video file to upload.

  • Great review, but what camera do you use to film the review?

  • @nerfdude96547 Great question, I think I shot this one with one of my old mini-dv's, Sony DCR HC32, standard def. but good camera as well.

  • Does it have a pausing option?

  • @XxDaGaMeRgIrLXx10 Yes and no, These new memory based cameras don't really "pause" everytime you hit the record button it starts or stops a video clip. When you play the video back you don't see the stops and starts, so in that way it is like pausing but not really .... understand?

  • Great information. Thanks. I especially liked the sample videos.

  • @SkipperMare I find that I use youtube more and more to help me make shopping decisions. Its great to be able to see a product and how well it may or may not work. Thanks for watching.

  • Great review. Thank you for all the specs

  • Where do you live that there are green honeybees?

  • @zacthebold Florida, crazy hun? they are not honey bees though. They live in small groups no big hives, I think they are closer to sweat bees. I also have tiny mason bees, neither sting or at least seem to bother humans.

  • Can you get a fish eye lens for this?

  • @xHunnyxBunniesx No, this camera does not have threads to screw a wide lens on. Sorry.

  • Does this camera have time lapse or night shot?

I ask because I would like to also use it for surveillance, and other fun projects. Time lapse usually allows for auto record through motion detection and stops when motion is not detected for 5 seconds.

  • @jintek7 No and No, and no motion detection either ..... sorry

  • how to set up the time and hour please

  • @Luismelgar2009 Yes the models i mentioned below shoot HD and take pictures.

  • @Luismelgar2009 This camera is not HD, sony makes a camera just like this one that is HD. HDR - CX110 and HDR-CX150

  • @Getawaymoments is this camera better than my DCR-SX65e ??

  • @SerbianFunTrick No, very similar. I think the only difference is that yours is PAL format and has 4gigs internal memory instead of 16 gigs.

  • @Getawaymoments thanks,but what is PAL? :)

  • @SerbianFunTrick PAL is the broadcast standard in Europe. I am in the united states, our broadcast standard is NTSC. Many say PAL is superior. I don't know if it is the standard in your country.

  • @Getawaymoments Im not understood you,but thanks. (sorry for bad english) greetings :D

  • is this good for low light / nighttime video footage?

  • @67mustangreg Its O.K. but not great. There are much better models out there but they are much more expensive.

  • @Getawaymoments okay thank you for the reply!

  • how do you stabalize your shots with the sx63?

  • @oldredneckranger90 Tripod. This camera also has some stabilization capability built in, called steadyshot.

  • @Getawaymoments oh ok thanks

  • Is it possible to change the lens on this camera? perhaps maybe a fisheye?

  • @DaMoo5e Not really, this model does not have threads to mount a wide angle.

  • @Getawaymoments ok, thanks!

  • does it allow u to pause recording and then resume recording???

  • @BestSuperHighlights Yes, but every time you start or stop the camera it makes a new video clip. It does not work like old "tape" cameras

  • youve helped me so much just by showing me how to change from int mem to mem card

  • Why is Sony still selling SD cameras?

  • @shoedoctor99 You would have to ask them. My guess, most of the world does not have HD yet. SD takes up less storage space. You can still shoot 16x9 aka wide scene on SD its just does not have the same resolution.

  • Does it have good video quality and sound ?

  • @wizkhalifamantroop25 Its good for the price. There are much better video cameras out there for alot more money.

  • Can you put on night vision? Plz help

  • @rightwing8877 No, this camera does not have the nightshot feature of many old sony camcorders.

  • do they make a fish eye lens for this camera and is it even possible to put a different lens on this camera ?

  • @1fastcat243 This model does not accept screw on wide angle lenses. I don't think there is a way to put other lenses on this camera.

  • @1fastcat243 No. There are very few camcorders that will accept different lenses, most of them being in the couple thousand dollar range. Best bet, get a DSLR on the cheap and some software to help reduce the rolling shutter effect.

  • ok. i know how to upload pictures. i do it all the time. i just dont know how to set my camera to internal memory like you mentioned. and i dont know how to upload the videos to my camera :(

  • @DarronTV your pictures are in internal memory with the video clips , if you use the windows uploading tool the video should be uploaded with the still pictures

  • hi. i have a quiestion. i have this camera and i am not able to upload ANY videos to the computer. nothing comes up. i dont have a memory card because it already have 4 hours of videos. Do you think that the reason i cant get an videos uploaded to my computer is beacuse i dont have a memory card?

  • @DarronTV No, should have nothing to do with it. Make sure you have the camera set to internal memory when you try to upload the clips. If you plug in your camera using the usb cable it should populate like a usb drive.

They should pop up in a folder.

  • @Getawaymoments i thinks its becuase of the internal mmemory like you mention. can you please explain how to do that

  • @DarronTV Do what? Can you play back your footage in the camera? If so you are probably not selecting the right things in the menu to connect to the computer. When you connect the usb to the computer the camera menu will give you three options use the top left or usb connect with the "ram" chip symbol try that

  • with this camcorder, can you pause the video when recording and then resume recording? Or everytime you start and stop will it be seperate videos? we need to update ours( it still uses VCR tapes) we need one for under 250, for family/sports and such and im sure we'd do alot of pausing. and would like to burn "whole " family videos to dvd. what do yall recommend? thanks so much

  • @ourhappyfamily4 Since this is not a tape camera, you don't "pause" anymore. Each time you hit the record button you create a new "clip" that ends when you hit the record button again. When your done, you hit play and the video plays just like tape, it just jumps to the next clip seamlessly. By what you described, this would probably be a good camera for you.

  • @Getawaymoments thank you very much for a quick reply. you helped me to understand a little better. I do have another question if you don't mind. Is it hard to get all the recorded stuff from this camera to a computer and burnt to DVDs? I have never put anything on a dvd. Do you have to know about software, and editing, and such.. or just hook up a wire and download and then click a button to burn( if only it was THAT easy!) thanks again.

  • @ourhappyfamily4 Burning DVDs from this camera to using your computer is hard. Burning DVDS of your videos using the analog cable to a DVD/VHS burner combo is very easy. That is what I do. You plug the camera into the DVD burner VCR hit play and hit record. Finalize and your good to go.

  • @Getawaymoments Just wanted to let you know that some cameras do include a "Stop Motion" function allowing to stop and resume recording like a Tape Camera. I'm sure you knew that though.

  • thank you!

  • For the telemacro mode dont you have to be somewhat far away because it automatically zooms the camcorder all the way in?

  • @01ck24 True, this macro feature works on the telephoto end of the lens not on the wide end as some other macro lenses do.

  • How many frames per second does it record?

  • @GRUxGUNZ 30, I'm not sure how many you get on slow speed record .... I think is about 100

  • Can you tell me what the difference is between this version and the Sony dcr sx45 or 65?? I really need information about this! Thanks

  • @MortarKS The devil is in the details. Sony like many manufacturers sometimes releases several versions of the same basic camera with a few detail tweaks. Check B&H or cnet for all the details on any of these models. The sx-45 appears to be just like the sx-63 without the internal memory. the sx65 appears to have only 4gigs internal memory

  • i dont know if im doing something wrong or what, but the quality of the videos once i watch them in the computer suck =/

  • But its more that my editing Program is giving me grief. I love the Camcorder.

  • I know its not a HD cam. But What im trying too do is convert it too 720p for youtube vids. From what i gather a HQ recording can be converted too a AVI 720hd. Well it worked twice on 2 that i have recently uploaded. As for the 16:9. I shoot in that aspect ratio, do the converting/ editing. I just forget what i did. Movie Edit Pro always says the settings differ form imported movie file and stuff. Just way too many Steps to get a HD movie made form the HQ meg2 raw file. Ohhh Well...lol

    thanks

  • Ohh forgot too mention I used SoThink Vid converter!!

  • Well im having Probs I read that converting the Meg2 to AIV ,then Edit it and then convert too AIV HD. would give oyu the 720HD on YT etc. I use Movie Edit pro16. And for the life of me im messing it somehow. I must be screwing something up or something.

I shoot on 16:9 and it always comes out wrong. I am totally frustrated.

  • @eastcoast78 The problem is probably that this camera is NOT HD ...... there is nothing you can do to upconvert it. On youtube it will see that its 16x9 but only 460 lines of resolution. Don't confuse 16x9 with HD. One is aspect ratio, the other is resolution.

  • How do you 'merge' the video clips onto a DVD. I tried to create a DVD via my PC but I end up with all the separate video clips instead of a normal video.

  • @clickerhappy There is a difference between making copies of the camera's video files on DVD and making a universal DVD of all the footage using the AV port. I prefer to burn DVDs for this camera to a stand alone VCR/DVD burner ..... plug in the AV cable and dub. I have never found an "easy" way to burn a universal DVD(one that can be played in any DVD player) on a PC.

  • ok ive had this camera for awhile now and i think it kinda sucks compared to other cameras for the same price.... i mean am i missing some cool feature that could blow my mind or somthing?

  • @M4Air nope, its just a simple solid state camera. I don't don't know what you paid for yours but I'm happy with mine for what I paid for it. It does not compare to my Canon 7d.

  • I have a video camera and has a good quality but it uses a mini disc to save videos. And that pisses me off

  • well i bought the Toshiba camileo x100 and ill be doing an unboxind vid of it, review, and video quality test check out my channel to c those...

  • does it work with windows movie maker right from the camera to the computer without any other programs to convert it...

  • @musicisme10102 Not sure, other youtubers have told me that it does work with newer versions of windows movie maker .....

  • @Getawaymoments thanks :::)))

  • can you increase the frame rate??

  • @getawaymoments is this cam HD, can it be paused during a vid then started again, does the battery last long. how long can this cam record for without a memory card, and does it work with windows movie maker, THANKS :D

  • @MuffinBakers Did you watch the video? ....... This camera is NOT HD, You do not really pause these cameras, every time you stop or pause the camera it creates a new video clip. The battery is good, bigger ones are available. record times vary depending on quality setting. (4 hours on high quality on internal memory) I have heard from other youtubers that it does work with newer versions of moviemaker.

  • I have a DCR-SX41 Model it's a great camera for what I use it for but should I upgrade to the model you have or go for A higher model like the SX81 model I think it is. Please Reply! :)

  • @XTN94 I don't know all of the models available right now .....so its hard to offer a recommendation. I got a Sony HDR-CX 150 open box and it has been great so far, I have not had time to do a proper video review.

If your sx-41 is getting the job done stay with it, these cameras are solid state ... ie no moving parts so I would expect them to last for a looooooooong time. I would save your money and get a nice HD camera when your sx-41 dies.

  • ha yes i realize that now.:0(.. I was getting confussed when ic people put up Videos recorded with the SX63 and its 720P. I assumed it was HD.

    Im a noob so...lol

So for the focus you you recommend leave it on Auto? I enabled the Digital Zoom, but was Still blurry .The distance was around 5 miles away.

I need to get on a forum for the Camcorder and learn some tricks.

    lol

  • @eastcoast78 Yes, leave the camera focus on auto. Only use manual when you need focus to stay put. I'm not a fan of digital zooms for these cameras, that said there are some new digital zoom features coming out on larger chip dslrs that look promising.

  • @Getawaymoments Cool thanks.

I was out all day recording While i was Flying my RC Glider, Snow on the ground ,nice warm blue skys, and WOW very nice quality. found it very hard too see the screen ,even with sun facing you? I guess that's norm for all LCD screens.

I well be uploading video later. Great Camera!!.I glad i bought it.

Yea i was playing with he manual focus, works great on the TriPod.

  • Got mine today..WOW love it. Love the HD option in the Vid settings.

  • were you recording HD/HQ when you shot your SX63 videos at the end? looks awesome.

  • @eastcoast78 HQ not HD, this is not an "HD" camcorder ..... it's good but not high def...... thanks

  • I use MagiX Movie Edit Pro 15 for editing. should be sweet. i seen about converting the files...Anything i should know...

  • @eastcoast78 Nope, post here if you have any information to share with other sx-63 users ..... have fun!

  • Just ordered one.cant wait too film Flying my RC planes...;) How sensitive it the Zoom.Do it zoom nice and slowly?

    Great review..

  • @eastcoast78 it zooms in very far and you can make it zoom slow or fast

  • @xxJuanVsWildxx ohhh cool, cant wait too get it ...

  • @eastcoast78 The zoom is great, it has quite a reach. The one thing I have had a problem with is the auto focus can be sluggish.

  • I have this camcorder and it works great and the pictures it takes are pretty good like it shows on one of my videos

  • Do you think it would work nicely for recording skateboarding ?

  • @A7XFan7314 yea, it would be o.k. .... If you want to go extreme get a gopro hero. The gopro's have a very wide, 170 degrees, field of view crazy pov shots .... more wow then the sony. Now if you only want to document moves and jumps the sx-63 would be fine

  • Can the camera pause during shooting a video .?

  • @A7XFan7314 It does not have what you might traditionally call a "pause" button. Only a record start and stop button, because it is a clip based camera every time you stop or pause the camera it creates a clip.

  • Does it have a mic Input?

  • @Joshyboy013 No.

  • this may seem kind of dumb but this the first camcorder that i have ever had and i am ignorant to everything about it. anyway every time that i go to my playback menu it has these pictures of like broken links and i can't figure out how to get them off. do you know what i do?

  • @theearlyoffspring No question is dumb if you don't know the answer, the pictures are thumbnails of your video clips ... tap on them and that clip will play ... when you want to delete them there is an icon in the lower right corner press it while the clip is playing and it will prompt you if you want to delete it .... If you want to get rid of all the clips you can dive deeper into the menus and find the format function ..... formatting erases all the data on the flash memory

  • will it shoot in 720 or 1080

  • @Gmbluntlongboard NO, only standard definition.

  • so this cam can be great in learning about abut the birds and the bees and the color of the trees up close and personal, as the demo vid suggest. Not bad.

  • is it av in?

  • @SPLITSECONDproduct NO ...... only AV out.

  • Thanks for this. It really helped me in my decision. Quick question, is it hard to convert mpeg2 to a different format? (I'll be using windows movie maker live, and I don't know what kind of video it uses). thanks!

  • @saiyukiotaku It used to be harder, but the newer versions of most editing software can handle it now. I don't know about your version of movie maker.

  • can you upload to you tube with this cam

  • @LudlowGoalie Yes you should be able to.

  • how do you use the manual focus, is it a slide bar, or do you touch what you want to focus on?

please reply for i am pondering on purchasing one.

  • @ninjastudios1 Its buried in the menus, you press a button on screen for manual focus then adjust with two arrows ..... near or far. It does have face detection, so if you have it turned on, the auto focus seeks out faces to focus and adjust exposure for ..... nice feature

  • how does the auto focus work?

  • @ninjastudios1 It works well for the price, it can be sluggish in low light.

  • okay, i have a Mac. and i think the cam is pretty good. but when i put my footage on the computer.... the audio is not there at all just the video with no sound

  • @cj64films interesting .... Play back the clips in the camera .... do you hear audio coming out of the camera? If so it must be an import setting...

  • @Getawaymoments There is audio... pretty good i might add. it just ticks me off when i put it on the computer.

  • @cj64films yea, check import settings, or the playback settings on your edit software

  • @Getawaymoments well i dont import it right to my editing software.

  • Hey how can I get a fish eye lens for this??

  • @801Current I get this question often, this camera DOES NOT have threads for a wide angle lens. There are some other products out there that use magnets but I don't know if they work well. sorry.

  • @Getawaymoments Alright thanks, I actually own it, I just am not a camera guy ha, thanks for your help

  • i was about to get this until you said it does mpeg 2..

    does imovie 11 support mpeg2???

    someone please answer...!!!

  • @zztop5911 My wife has an i-mac with i-movie 9 ..... and it takes mpeg2 so you should be good.

  • @Getawaymoments Does it work for Microsoft Moive Maker or Windows Movie Maker? please answer pretty much the only reason im going to buy this.

  • @9481bdaybeyonce Not sure, does not work on old versions, but other youtube users have posted here that the newer versions can use this camera.

  • @Getawaymoments oh ok. i really like the older version better :( well i might need a video converter. do you recomend any?

  • @9481bdaybeyonce No, don't have a recommendation on that, I use an old mini dv camcorder, not the best solution but it works.

  • Ok i have this cam if i buy A 4GB sD WILL IT ALLOW ME TO HAVE 20 GB ALL TOGETHER SINCE I ORIGANLLY HAVE 16GB BIUKT IN

  • @elsanchoalex Total yes, but i don't think the camera can "see" or use all of the media at the same time. You have to switch the settings from internal to external.

  • what setting did you use in your test footage and what did you convert it to and what was your editing software? I know lots of questions but i need a new camera and was looking at this one. this looks like HD without the HD hassle

  • @TheJedireviews This is a standard definition camera that shoots in 16/9 aspect ratio, but it is standard def.

The file format is mpeg 2 so check if your editing program can use it. I use an old avid program with a digital converter, I would not recommend this to you, its a patch set-up. I know that newer versions of i-movie and windows movie maker as well as sony vegas can all use footage from this camera, good luck.

  • @TheJedireviews it DOES shoot HD!

  • @ubuibme24 No, the sx-63 does not shoot HD.

  • @Getawaymoments My bad, it is HQ- not HD--you might have mentioned where my confusion could have come from

  • @ubuibme24 No problem

  • awesome. i just got this camcorder. though i got a question: If you get it at Walmart, should i put the warranty from those little booklets they give you to call or go online, or should i put Sony's limited warranty? plz help since walmart's warranty thing is quite confusing.

  • @TheGarcia350 If the camera works right out of the box I bet you never have a problem with it. I would fill out the sony warranty but I bet you never need it. Only deal with walmart if it does not work right out of the box.

  • @Getawaymoments awesome. thanks for the help. =D

  • is there a way to put a fisheye lens on it

  • @sergio300098 No, this camera does not have the threads to screw in any filters. I guess you could tape one on but that would not work well.

  • is it possible to attach a bigger mic to it?

  • @emericaskater951 No, built in mic only. No external mic input.

  • Can you set this camera up to do time-lapse? Hey, also, thanks for all this...don't know why you take the time, but it's certainly appreciated.

  • @robinmorningstar1 you can do time lapse with any video camera, ie just speed up raw video. But this camera does not do high quality time lapse ..... that is usually done by assembling thousands of individual frames together .... typically done with a still camera .... however there are some video cameras that have a dedicated interval timer built in .... not this one ..... many older motion picture .... film cameras could do it but they also had to have a built in interval timer.

  • How is the video quality in dark area like night. and also how is the picture?

  • @shindelion This is a good camera for the price, is it the best? no. But it is good for the price. Does it see in the dark? No, but it takes a fine picture for a little ccd camera. If you want a camera that sees in low light get a HDSLR with a big CMOS chip, but it will cost you several times what this camera costs.

  • @Getawaymoments i heard that it can be used as a webcam is it true?
