  • very interesting video thanks

  • i enjoyed this vid

  • How did you add and then drag the fade without altering the values in the inspector?

  • I'm not familiar with Logic's compressors but I'm assuming you have them set for downward and upward compression? How do you have a short attack and such a high ratio without killing the initial attack of the sound?

  • whats the name of that software?

  • @FlukieL2P The daw is logic, first reverb i think is in the pro or studio version.

  • what program do you use?

  • @xxxKinderSurprisexxx That's Logic. Mac only.

  • I think panning would make this sound bigger and wider

  • very nice need combination beats

  • The third sound you get can't be from hitting your garage door right? It's too punchy and kicky.

  • nice, would be nice if u raise the volume of ur own voice in the video next time.

  • Can you tell me more about the hardware you are using to sample in this video? I'm seeing mics like that more and more, but I don't even know what to call it, or what it records to.

  • @AnimeNanashi shotgun mic like the Rode NTG2. Connects to XLR, needs 48v/Phantom power with the right audio interface, can record directly to the DAW.

  • You're distoring the signal quite a bit on the individual channels. No?

  • @ductlondon thats why he put the limiter on the master, presumably.

  • Thanks

  • Thanks for the tutorial.

    What microphone is used?

Is a Roland R-09HR field recorder a good alternative?

  • @Passie808

    I used a Rode NTG-3 mic.

R-09HR is a great field recorder,

  • @jimstout Hey Jim, I just love your videos, very inspiring and I'm about to get myself a fieldrecorder. Since budget is a little low I might go for the Zoom H2 I just wanted to ask what you think about it. Or maybe if I should save up and get the Zoom H-4 N or maybe even the Sony PCM-D50 but that is in another league. I am abit confused and I would like your input and maybe you have other recommendations I haven't thought about? I rather save money for something good than buy some noisy crap.

  • @M3sslah Zoom H4n is excellent. If money's tight, you could always look at the 'non-N' version (that's the one I have) the quality of the mics are the same, but the n-version's more configurable. H4 can produce professional-level results.

  • Can you upload those samples? They would be awesome for kicks.
