I'm not familiar with Logic's compressors but I'm assuming you have them set for downward and upward compression? How do you have a short attack and such a high ratio without killing the initial attack of the sound?
Can you tell me more about the hardware you are using to sample in this video? I'm seeing mics like that more and more, but I don't even know what to call it, or what it records to.
@AnimeNanashi shotgun mic like the Rode NTG2. Connects to XLR, needs 48v/Phantom power with the right audio interface, can record directly to the DAW.
@jimstout Hey Jim, I just love your videos, very inspiring and I'm about to get myself a fieldrecorder. Since budget is a little low I might go for the Zoom H2 I just wanted to ask what you think about it. Or maybe if I should save up and get the Zoom H-4 N or maybe even the Sony PCM-D50 but that is in another league. I am abit confused and I would like your input and maybe you have other recommendations I haven't thought about? I rather save money for something good than buy some noisy crap.
@M3sslah Zoom H4n is excellent. If money's tight, you could always look at the 'non-N' version (that's the one I have) the quality of the mics are the same, but the n-version's more configurable. H4 can produce professional-level results.
very interesting video thanks

How did you add and then drag the fade without altering the values in the inspector?

The third sound you get can't be from hitting your garage door right? It's too punchy and kicky.

You're distoring the signal quite a bit on the individual channels. No?

Thanks for the tutorial.
What microphone is used?
Is a Roland R-09HR field recorder a good alternative?

@Passie808
I used a Rode NTG-3 mic.
R-09HR is a great field recorder,
