  • GRAND FUNK..... fuck yes xD

  • I use to play bass in a band when I was 16 years old and we played a lot of GFR. This one was one of our best. 16 years old! WOW! I wanna play them again.

  • tema que me recuerda tardes calurosas

uno de los que más llegan de grand funk

  • Solamente espectacular

  • one of the best of all times..GFR

  • Pura Vida Irmano !!!!!!!!!!

  • QUE RITMO TAN SUPER Q MUSICA POR DIOS

  • I use to play the "red" album at full volume just to piss off the neighbors. The closest thing to a live album that you'll find.

  • I got this album when I was at school in one of those complicated swap deals then I ended up with the 33 rpm 7" single of Paranoid/Inside Looking Out as well. Still have the album, but the single was stolen at a party in the early 70s . Still miss it as the album is well scratched now. Also have the live album from 1970, but it is now barely playable. Nostalgic post for me.

  • I love Mel Schacher's bass playing on this song. Really I like his playing on all Grand Funk's LP's. Thanks for posting.

  • Gods

  • I love Mark's voice, never tire of it.

  • About a week as go I learned "inside looking out" was an Animals song!!!~ I bet they do good version too. Since I got all Grand Funks early albums well after they came out, with pretty much no radio air play and no one my age to compare notes with I was in a GF info vacuum apparently, even though I played the records to death. : ).

  • I wish Mark, Don and Mel would reunite and stay together as "the real" Grand Funk Railroad.

  • da bass man... da basss

  • this rocks!!! American classic rock radio has done a disservice to grand funk railroad, by only playing "we're an american band", "some kind of wonderful" and "locomotion". they were essentially a prog band, but they also shared a similar sound to other michigan based bands like the "stooges" and "mc5".

  • @bluestate69 Thank you! Bloody freakin shame they have not been in the Rock N Roll hall of fame LONG before now...Oh silly me! There still not in!!!!!!! Damn bloody shame! Sorry I had too comment...Michael

  • Well, It is still my favourite since I heard it for the 1st time way back in the 70ties. Still playing this while I am driving my 72 Le Mans Convertible. I hear my baby knocking.

  • Oh, yeah! The Red Album. Young boys were still digging this record well into the 1980s. Mark Farner's guitar was phantastic. It sounded like he had left it at Leigh Stephens's pad for a night or two, had it retuned by Tony Iommi, and then thrown into a pool of muck for a week. Perfect!

  • I still have my copy of the "red" album. The cover is frayed and it can't play anymore from so much abuse.

  • And the one called "E pluribus Funk"... well, all of them! but til Phoenix!

  • @xKluuzx Yea me too, funny how you refer to it, "old guy battlefield video" lol.

  • First heard this song on the old guy Battlefield video. It's catchy.

  • @xKluuzx me too :)

  • album?

  • @Pipespike9327 'Grand Funk' is the album.

  • I've always thought that Rolling Stones "Bitch" ripped off this amazing riff - and sound by switching from neck to bridge pickup (guitar players will know what I mean). Note that Sticky Fingers came out about 2 years after this album. GFR <3

  • one of THEE most important albums of the 20th Century!!!!!!!...

  • Just made my night - this and Captain Beyond river of fear - feels like this dane found gold

  • The Beatles had the White album and Grand Funk had the Red album!

  • The Beatles had the White album and Grand Funk had the Red album.

  • The best bass guitar album ever recorded! I was 10 and my brothers were 20 and they would play this in their bed room all day until they got tired of it and switched to C.S.N.&Y. - They gave the album to me and then I played it all day! I always loved the album cover!

  • this album rocked,,one of the best

  • My childhood!

  • homer simpson was right, grand funk fucking rule!!!

  • I haven't heard this since it was released! We used to do this song!! Awesome, a great album and I think their best.

  • soy metalero y esto es la puta ostia, increible ese ritmo cambiante en clave rock pesado sicodélico envuelve al oyente, el bajo y batería no dan tregua en ningún momento. Perfecta brillantez. xD

  • A lot of bands copied their style too.

  • ils ont des origines celtiques ? sur

  • By far the greatest garage band ever! They rocked!

  • Man, what a song...... from a great album. I remember the critics really hating this group, idiots........

  • First heard this album when I was about 12. A friend's older brother had just got it and he played it constantly. It still stands up today.

  • Still framed on my wall of fame. Remember rocking the whole neighborhood on the Russian River with my orange Sears stereo. Stiil can see the tourists walking by my house looking dazed !!!

  • muyyyyy buenoooooooo!!!

  • thanks grand funk

  • Is that Justin Beiber on bass?

  • @nootaramus You sir , Are Fucked up ..Who do you listen to ? Starlite Vocal Band ?

  • holy shit ... can't believe I'm 18 and this is the first time I listen to such a huge band... damn ... this is definitely going to be one of my fav bands. ..

  • Grand Funk always keeps me rocking just love their soulful rock style. There's no new great rock bands out there anymore. What happened to music? I guess it took a crap now days.

  • \m/ YEAH \m/ !!

  • yeah!!!!!!!!

  • 1992 was the year music went to hell with the hip hop and no name bands if you look at the billboard 100.

  • You don't hear killer bass played THIS loud any more,I'm glad I bought this album in 1970(among many many others) and played the SHIT out of it. Concert goers don't know the meaning of bass biting their asses and ears off like it was done back then. You are not gonna find another band today that had the energy or the BALLS to do what Mark,Don, and Mel did.

  • The reason why bands from the 50-60-70's were good is, 'cause they

didn't need to much gadgets to produce music and to perform.

Their music was pure and solid and made to last.

Only thing I can't stand is that, some wannabe's use these

    songs and kill'em.

    .

  • 6 guys mist the like botton!!! :D

  • I am 31 years old, but the last ten years of the 20th century and the first decade of the 21th century just has made poor music, yes there are some exception, but the 50, 60, 70 and 80, those years were the best in the music industry, WHY, Because God sended the best in music, like GRAND FUNK, RARE EARTH, DOORS, BALCK SABBATH, LED ZEPPELIN and so on.

  • Good music that will never come back, album was kick ass

  • I used to fall asleep with my headphones on listening to this on my Emerson 8-track at about 11 years old......those were the days!

  • i heared that bon jovi practicase over this album

  • @budmotor Compared to this....Bon Jovi are a bunch of women trying to play a man's game. I think they may actually have vaginas.

  • @loungelizard5000 HAHA !

  • my alltime favorite GFR album,,,,,,,,,,,,ASS kickin

  • 6 people doesnt got this thing on the move!

  • Mel Schacher in the bass?

  • @aphisis Mel Schachter - with a T - on and on and on bass...

  • ROCK AND FRIGGIN ROLL !!!!!!!!!

  • BAD ASS BASS LINE......

  • Plugged into your 8-track. An anti-vibration high tech matchbook tucked in. Volume cranked high to compensate for road noise. Hard to hear over glass packs at high RPM. Sweet smells of ripening corn. Heat lightning in the distance. Miles and miles of blacktop to cover and all night to do it.

  • @paulschmidtart Thats funny ! I had forgotten about having to put a matchbook under the tape to make it play right .

  • @paulschmidtart makes ya wanna cry where the goodtimes have gone!!

  • @paulschmidtart Damn straight!

  • @paulschmidtart PRETTY AWESOME POST....EXCEPT FOR THE CORN, THAT COULD HAVE BEE IN NYC..THAT POST ALONG WITH THIS SONG BROUGHT BACK AWESOME MEMORIES...WELL SAID.

  • @paulschmidtart Man,you just took me back! Oh, and you could fill that muscle car gas tank for about 4 bucks!

  • @paulschmidtart You must have been one of the guys sitting in my back seat. Good to hear from you. ;-)

  • @paulschmidtart Been there my friend, good memories!

  • @paulschmidtart 67 Mustang transplanted 427 lakes pipes (corncob pipes inside) airborne over the atlantic ave bridge long beach 1973 lost the cops in san pedro...

  • @paulschmidtart

yeah man..had my 76 Gran Torino with glass pack muffies on it 351W CID engine, playing this album and Stevie Wonder Innervisions and Humble Pie on the 8 track....driving all night just being present you know?.... man....wow....LOL....

  • @paulschmidtart MMM-MMMM-MMMM Home! * track adapter where you tune in an FM station or the state of the art cassette adapter and a cassette of this in the 8 track adapter, and the match book (has to be from a cool establishment like the coolest bar in the county. Ripening corn or alfalfa, and clover. The glass packs in a 69 GMC 2500 Custom with AC PS PB & a 4 speed with a seat from a Jeep Cherokee in the back for fishing at night. Efffffffffffffffffft pft, Yeah man! good stuff! phewwww! Oh Yeah

  • @paulschmidtart So you were that guy I passed going in the opposite direction! LOL! Well said bro!

  • I would like to know more about this band. pls tell me some.. tks

  • @rgonzales86 : There's so much to tell that you'd probably be better off just Googling them.

  • have to agree best album by far, love limousine driver

  • so i'm like in 6th grade, 11 or 12 i guess, and i'm at football practice, city league, these two kids with long hair are going on about grand funk railroad. they are both popular and getting everyone jacked up about this music, they both play bass and are talking about mel schacher like he's god. so i go out and steal santana (their first), grand funk railroad (red album), and jimi hendrix (machine gun i think). grand funk became one of those bands for me that i bought their music instantly.

  • Grand Funk Railroad - provavelmente será a próxima banda da Estante do mp3!!!

  • my 1st GFR album...and their grooviest man!

  • Nice co-opting of the word "funk", rock dudes.

Nothing funky about this. Great if you dig rock. Not so great if you want a funk fix.

  • Kick my Ass!!

  • billn1959 knows

  • @yourunclehank1 That would be old old old skool mixing haha

  • WTF's up with the panning?

  • @AddictionbeatZ Old school mixing

  • @AddictionbeatZ In the early 70s, it was supposed to sound trippy when you listned with headphones. It sounded like the guitar was tarveling thru your head. Kinda annoying if your not listening with headphones.

  • Thanks, RogerioAndre...1:26 -2:23 Great jam! Timeless! I got this album for Christmas 1970, still have it in my GFR collections.

  • Mark, Don, & Mel!!!!!!

  • So freakin good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I'm a FUNK freak!

  • @47tooter and @ogphil ..but Homer J. also liked Ohio Express...so what is this telling us??

  • ohhh so nice remembers...

  • RogerioAndre..no need to apologize for no video..didn't need it back then and don't need it now. Not against video but it's really about the music on this stuff. I think that's one of the things that made that time so special, at least for me. You looked at the pictures on the album...read the lyrics maybe and used your imagination. thanx

  • never ever get tired of the red album.

  • The band the critics loved to hate but the people loved!

They should be in the hall of fame.

    B

  • this, my friends, is how you open an album!!!

  • I got this vinyl for 19 cents in a clearance box. Best 19 cents I ever spent.

  • @bok255 you lucky ass motherfucker!! enjoy it with all your being!

  • Remember that image well.

  • i love this song but i can not find it anywere

  • Positively the first best rock band ever! Vote them into the HOF!!! Let's do it!

  • This album is totaly undervalued

  • @maurtene This band is totaly undervalued.

  • @jacobnrrs totally agree.....bloody awesome for a 3piece. WTF would put most 5 piece to shame any day!

  • in a 63 rambler

  • one of the best bass players in all of rock & roll

  • i barely discovered this and im so glad i did. these guys are amazing.

  • when music was still made by real Men, the American way.

  • I am a big GFR fan and have been for 40 years or more. Another band not in the HOF is Chicago. Miley will be in before any of these bands,

  • rokačina do bola GRAND FUNK RULES !!!

  • sin duda alguna esta fue la mejor epoca del rock los mejores años de mi vida nunca los olvidare

  • Nothing like these guys, ever! The one and only!

  • 1971 Shea stadium sold out quicker than the Beatles

No band at that time - Stones Beatles Zep Sabbath HENDRIX(even not dead)

and every last band that appeared at Woodstock was a bigger band

than these guys - with little airplay at that point - word of mouth

is how you found a new band. Power sheer Power - and crappy

    equip at the time too

    100,000 people 1971 Shea Stadium

Most bands can't do that today - even with hype and promotion

Yes that goes for U2 also

  • I wish I had a Quarter for everytime we played this when Me, Tommy and Mark S. played it in Marks Garage!

  • as a teenager in the late 60s I learned a lot of guitar from listening to Mark Farner and the first two Grand Funk albums.

  • Great bass indeed! "Very GFR", very late 60s. Thank you RA.

  • lol!

    You guys are so right.

    Mark, Don & Mel..woo hoo!!

  • Fuck Yeah!!!!

  • Great band!Way ahead of there time.

  • Hey! This is the stuff taht inspired me to jam! from 70' Still do! I was 15

  • great

  • that`s a shame that nowadays no one listen to this kind of music, im 20 from brazil, but not even distance and time will make me know what is a truly rock and roll and bullshit, GFR!!!! Terry Knight unfortunately destroyed this band, their firts album are just perfeeeect!!!! By the way, Mark have a greeeat voice!!

  • What a song

  • love that guy's bass sound.....his friggin' playing....

  • Great, pure class

  • love this band

  • i played this lp till the groves wore out

  • Grand Funk Railroad is awesome they rock

  • Boring? The Brazilian needs to put down his crack pipe, the PREMIERE AMERICAN HARD ROCK POWER TRIO, Bar none. Louder Than THE WHO. Better live concerts than Cream. MARK DON & MEL -- Living legends, baddest Bitchin' band on Planet EARTH, In 1969, they truly kicked ass out of Flint, Michigan U.S.A.

  • This THE SHIT..........................

  • wooow now you have to be american (i mean usa) to listen rock

    bullshit

man if you want to listen real rock go to england

    at least they don´t say

hey you are not from this country go away!!! and don´t listen rock it´s mine.

    racist

  • super music

  • Amazing! This band taught me how to write songs! Keep it simple!

  • @PunkLobo - Grand Funk isn't boring. Also, Homer's favorite band is Cheap Trick, not Grand Funk Railroad. I am not judging your taste, just expressing my opinion (and one fact) like you did. Cheers man. If you have long hair and play in a heavy electric blues trio like me, you definitely relate to these guys.

  • @ogphil3 homer simpson aka { matt groening } favorite band is GRAND FUNK,, every episode with rock stars he slips grand funk in there,,, the WHO,, mettalica,, and lollapalooza.. 3 different episodes he mentions grand funk.

  • video or not...truly great song...The critics hated them...but the people knew better...simple is not always bad...In their prime no one was any better...and their 2nd lp was a "killer"

  • put grand funk in the rock-n-roll hall of fame goddammit

  • boring.

I just checked this vid cuz its homer fav band btw.

  • @PunkLobo this is coming from a brazillian "punk" wanna-be. lol go away!

  • @APACHESKULL Whats wrong on being brazilian? -.-

I just said my opinion, I think this song is boring. Plus, I'm not a wannabee. Just cuz I tought this was boring you have to do personal attacks? Come on. Its my fuckin opnion. USA is full of racist and xenophobe morons. Whats next? Going to say that you gonna blown my country? This isn't a bad band, its just boring song.

  • @PunkLobo why dont you check out ,,american band live 1974,, or shea stadium live, Im your captain,,or INSIDE LOOKING OUT on PBS.. those are their best.

  • one of the best albums ever.

  • I want a periodic table of contents but w/o the toxic stuff! I want to touch zinc! or something.

  • I want a bag of African diamonds...industrial to aaa grade oh yeah!

  • texts are like prayers that the devila nd god can hack

  • Led Zeppelin come later than GFR...this is the song I'm used to listen when I'm in high school in 1969/70...if I'm not wrong...GFR & MARK FARNER CANNOT BE SEPARATED...GREAT..

  • In fact Led Zeppelin's Manager threatened he would Kill Grand Funk Railroads Manager if he didn't stop them from playing because the Crowd wanting to hear them instead of Led Zeppelin.

  • Foot Stompin Music from E Pluribus Funk was their best 70s high tempo, then my second 70s personal favorite was Some Kind Of Wonderful, then Locomotion. But their '69 stuff like this was their best ever. Led Zeppelin and Other Groups Managers were scared of them because they were so good they were stealing the Concerts opening up for those Groups.

  • superb!

  • saw Grand Funk play live in Niagara Falls in 1974. What a great concert.

  • Whooooooooah. Now this is my kind of music!!!!!!!!!

  • Without GF being in the R&R HOF there is no R&R HOF ...its just a club with no credibility !

  • I like survial best; but it;s all good.

  • The "Red Album" Best GF album there is.

  • I think their best was "E Pluribus Funk" and their worst was "Survival"

  • you know what? it's fun to separate the sounds of Mark, Don and Mel on this song; there are times when Mark sounds like he overlaps Mel, times when Mel solos and times when Mark plays inside Mel's bass...

can't figure out how Mark's guitar sounds so fuzzy, though, lol.

the song gets better every time i hear it

  • How'd they get that sound? Cheap equipment and a lot of heart!

  • @plangentmusic

HA! that's great! well, yes they play(ed) with a lot of heart, but, well, the equipment is another story... stuff of musician's legends. the rumors vary, but one roadie said that the tubes in the back of Mel's amplifiers were always smoking or on fire during their concerts!

isn't it funny how GF were well thought of by lots of other musicians and roadies, but less so by The Industry?

  • @plangentmusic

How'd they get that sound? West amps, made in Lansing Michigan by Dave West.Mark used a Hollow body Messinger Guitar,Mel used a Fender Jazz Bass with a Gibson EBO Humbucker on it.On his amp the Bass switch clicks when you turn it counter clockwise sending a 12 DB boost across the front end of the amp.Yes at first they went thru a lot of tubes on the Fillmores. They ran their cabinets at 2 ohms. They carried literaly a warehouse of replacement speakers.

  • @astronomius Mark used a Foxx fuzzWha.

  • AwwRIGHT! *** Get down and get funnnnnnkeh!***

    Great track!

  • We used to have a big debate over who was the better band,,,,,Grand Funk or James Gang,,,,,,,,those were the good times,,,,

  • thanks to a friend of mine,I listen to this great stuff!!!!!!!
