  • part 5: how to solder with your computer's cpu

  • Problem is that it'll be hotter than with a soldering iron, and the flux in the solder will get too hot and little drops of it will get all over the place.

  • part 5: How to solder with a lit cow turd.

  • your a genius

  • @skylinmegas9290 this so cool ....well i wounder how to desolder with a lighter

  • part 5: How to solder with a piece of match stick

  • so basically heat the wires then apply the solder?

  • doe you need that kind of ehh, liquid? that you need if you are normal soldering??? please aswer :) i want to do this today thats why i need to know

  • Part 4: how to solder with pure will.

  • INFINITE ENERGY CABLE

  • How to solder with iLighter

  • part 3: how to solder with napalm

  • Part 2: How to Soder With a Flamethrower

  • This is a nice idea, if you are going to solder only wires... But if you solder electrical components onto the PCB, you're going to screw it.

  • @n3ssaya00 or you can try with a torch lighter :)

  • so... how do u use this to solder components to a pcb???

  • this doesnt show HOW to solder with a lighter

  • Let's pray they wont start to "save budget" on Playstation.

  • asdfghjkl;'

  • :)

  • this is how they make xbox 360's i bet.

  • I used a similar method to fix the camera on a friends cell phone when we were abroad and proper tools were not available. I attached a needle above a small candle, and used the contraption as a solder iron. Annoying as hell, but it worked!

  • i got a better idea go to radio shack or any other electronic shop and buy yourself a soldering iron!!!!! DUH!!!!.....

  • @francisroan Soldering with a lighter is not particularly dangerous, it's just slow. It's handy to know how to do this, by the way. Consider, for example, how you would solder the joints on a wall switch? You obviously can't use an electric soldering iron since you'd have to turn the power off to work on the switch. Repair electricians typically use gas torches for this kind of work, in fact.

  • He cut the sound out of the video because he's actually screaming with pain. Fuck, I would.

  • IS THIS FOOTAGE OF HOW THEY MAKE XBOX 360 ?

  • @bluntza What do you mean?

  • this is not a good idea.

  • @torned00kaz It's not a particularly bad idea. Soldering with an open flame is often necessary for house wiring, where the only power source has to be turned off because it's being worked on and carries a lethal amount of current. I'd much rather carry a lighter around than a generator.

  • mcgyver invent this! XD

  • lol can i do that whith my pc??? lol

  • @Armstrong202 hahhahaah

  • fire awaiting to happen

  • yup it's realy for an emergency

  • Good for an emergency repair but not really a good idea for everyday use. Also be sure of the environment before you do this - if you have fuel fumes in the air it's not a good idea (I say that as back in the USAF we had a nitwit doing heatshrink in a F-4E cockpit with 6000 lbs of fuel onboard, in a closed hangar - JP4 fuel can ignite with a spark easily). I have done this a few times with a propane torch on heavy battery cables before I put the new ends on.

  • @rhblakeman That's horrifying. Haven't these people heard of heat guns and extension cords? ^^

  • My cat chewed up the sensor bar to my Wii. I tried doing this...and accidentally set my Wii on fire.. :l

Not to mention I was using graphite :D (Mechanical pencil lead)

  • @JelloSniper no offence. But if this story is true ur an idiot.

  • @gcmsboy1234 Hey it actually worked :D

Until the sensor bar wire "spontaneously combusted"....

  • Wow, that is unbelievable. I was looking for videos with soldering tips because I was using a clunky mechanic one, and you just did a perfect solder with a lighter. Fuck.

  • Gotta give it to ya.

  • holy shit lol

  • wow that soder melts quik mine takes forever

  • what can you use instead of solder?

  • any metal with a low melting point, but solder is the best one!!

  • pencil lead for example

  • potassium

  • pure potassium would explode

  • @thumbcollector6 Potassium does not explode when heated. It does, however, react violently when exposed to water, which may be present in some fluxes. In any case, you can't solder with it. It's much too soft (consistency of cool butter) and oxidizes almost instantaneously.

  • pencil lead

  • @bleachrocks45 Pencil lead (graphite) is a pure carbon structure and, so, does not melt, but does very slowly combust in the presence of oxygen. Solder contains actual lead... except when it's lead-free solder, of course. ^^

  • @fennecfanatic thank you =P

  • @sprtn117c Not really anything or i dont advise you use anything.

  • ok but it's gonna be a nightmare for electronic components.

  • @chamath1985 Yeah, right. It's also going to be a nightmare to remove nail polish with this method. The point is, that it is a good makeshift way to do a bit of very basic soldering if you don't have the tools available.

  • @fronkenpoop Err yeah But there will be plenty of cold joints.

  • @chamath1985 not if you have a small butane torch thats how im ataching a new headphone jack :)

  • Interesting. Would an old-fashioned Zippo be hot enough?

  • probably.

  • good, but it can melt the wires which you are trying to solder!

  • Nice, thank you.

  • is it bad to have the lighter and heat up the wires to

  • good way to solder in a pinch :)

  • when i do that then it doesnt stick on why?

  • You probably need to get solder flux. Or get rosin-core solder

  • what that guys said, or its not hot enough

  • yeah... don't think im going to do that on my 360 controller cricut board ( rapid fire) it would be worth the 8 dollars to just buy an iron

  • No, you would do this if like you broke a wire on your flashlight white camping or something, not as a substitute for a good iron.

  • You take solder camping?

  • LOL

  • well, i would rather do this if you just need to solder wires together than wait for an iron to heat up

  • lol thats awesome

  • Wow this is for the cheapest of the cheap. I just bought a 5pc soldering kit from Radio Shack for $7.99. Which came with a 30w soldering iron, soldering iron stand, solder, heat sink, and a soldering tool. For about twice as much as a lighter and a spool of solder, I'd definitely go for the proper way to solder stuff.

  • OH NO I burnt my finger off!

  • butane torch lighter? hehe maybe?

  • sweet, i just knew something like this would work. you, my friend, are a genius!

  • my advice...use a zippo! plastic lighters have tendencies to explode when being lit for long periods...especially when held sideways.

  • WOW. They never taught me that in high school.

  • yeah, but then you wouldnt be ghetto.......wait a minute.....yes you would!!! Im gonna go to walmart, and buy a lighter to do this, I AM THE GHETTO KING!!!

  • Poor man's soldering 101?!^^

  • i can do SMT work with that

  • haha let me see. !lol!

  • OOWWHH!,I've burnt my finger,stupid soldering with a lighter.

  • thats why u get one of those lighters with the extended ends so the flame wont even be near ur finger =D

  • I dont need to get one, i have always used them :P

  • want a cookie? well you arent getting one. ROFL

  • Cool.

  • you are the MAN!!

  • Cool, thanks

  • LOL! Very nice.

  • hmm, even faster the with solderer, but i think you heat up your fingers that way.

  • very cool...thanks for sharing

  • nice dude!!
