Saw Lyn's duo, Serendipity, on a recent Royal Caribbean cruise, and just caught the end of this sax solo - a big favourite of mine. No problem - a special request from me the next night got the whole thing again. Brilliant - and a nice, friendly lady too.
Fantastic sound lady, so lost in the sound she probably completely unaware of the cretins smacking their lips together and grunting in the background...fkin philistines, for some, music is what you get in your happy meal toy or played at you in lifts,...she should accidentally smack each one of the neanderthals around the face with her sax case as she puts it away and leaves.
I just can't believe that almost 125,000 people have watched this video and have made so many lovely comments on here and on Baker Street. Thank you soooo much you're all very lovely. Have a great day. Love and Best Wishes Lyn x
@LynFredrick jeez I can't believe you actually responded.....are you still playing?....this is the closest ever to wesley I have ever found.....you were wonderful....15/10 for playing on when the ignorasuaruses were milling about....:-)....where was the actual gig..do you remember?...you're a star...x
that crowd i dont think would recognise a tallented performer and performance even if they were bitten on the rear end by 1 they were so cruel you lyn are amazing you both are superb
@spannerization That really is kind of you, not my best recording. Very distracting playing to an uninterested crowd and also we were experimenting with the cam corder lol. Keep practising tho and I'm sure you'll nail it soon. Thanks again, Lyn x
If you would like to hear the full version of this or my playing the sax on other great tracks our new CD is available now at the Serendipity web site! Thanks for all your lovely comments, Lyn x
@giddiand Hee Hee, first proposal I've had since 1989, very flattering but at this moment I'm happy where I am. Thanks tho. Full version is on the serendipity web site
Why do people go to see live music just to talk all the time and spoil it for the rest of the audience and the performers? If you like the sound of your own voice so much and just cannot keep yourself from talking just go outside where your personal audience can hang onto your pearls of wisdom!
Good to see you at the Bull Pub in Colchester recently. Funny how I came across your amazing rendition of "Will you"on youtube first and then met you in person locally. Your playing inspires me as an up and coming "emotive" sax player. Good to meet a famous Youtube celebrity! - also your gorgeous looks are, not at all, captured on this video - so sack the camera man!
Well done Lyn how nice it is to have the opportunity to appreciate great musicianship hope one day you will be available to play in one of my songs. Triston Greece

Hi Lyn, Firstly thank you so much for sending me the music for "Will You" secondly you play this absolutely beautifully, this is the best version I have heard. You are amazing!!
Lyn this is without doubt the best performance of "Will You" I have seen and heard, you are an amazing sax player. Wishing you continued success and happiness.

I'm curious as to why there is a little bit cut out between 0:26 and 0:27? Okay I know I'm being pedantic!!! A little bit perfectly read for me but near perfect rendition - kudos
Hi Kaplahhhhh. Interesting name? The bit missing is where Stuart stopped and started the cam corder. Actually I'm flattered that you thought I was reading the music. The music stand there has a few lyrics for other songs and my set list on it. Its a little ridgid due to the fact I had no radio mic on that night, but now I love walking about whilst I'm playing and can really go for it. Do come and hear us live if you're a stickler for nuance! Loads of love and sax Lyn x
Hey Lyn, the reason behind the name is I thought I would be nerdy as I was new to the internet at the time (and drunk, mind!) and give myself a klingon alais I was young then!!
I'm even more impressed now that it wasn't a read rendition. I'd love to hear more so keep the posts coming and I may see ye sure I'm only across the water! All the best and keep tooting!! : )
Hi Lyn! just reading some of the other comments. I think you should post the whole video so people can hear you sing it too! Then they really would be gobsmacked! What about your flute? Fields of gold?
Love to see Lyn play this song in a band, in fact you should get Hazel to sing live and if you can then i will travel whatever distance to see it !!!!!
Well raveygravy, I sing this as well as play the sax solo, perhaps I should post the whole video? You can always check out the website to see if we're gigging near you?
Now that's a incentive to go and buy another saxophone, been a while since i played but everytime i watch you play this tune Lyn i get that tingle down my spine :-))
I'm using a Yamaha YAS62, Lawton 6*b mouthpiece and plasticover rico royals. I know you can get the music on Hazel O'Connor's web site but it hasn't got the sax solo.
I have now written out the music for this solo for both Alto or Tenor players, so if you would like a copy you can contact me by clicking on LynFredrick and leave a message.
I wrote the midi file myself. So its running through a midi keyboard on this video. I have also transfered that onto mini disk. Which would you prefer?
Sheer brilliance Lyn, love this song and not heard that sax solo played as well live as you have done in this clip.
Shame about the lack of respect from the crowd, i would have been annoyed, i hope they gave you a great round of applause when you finished, again that was amazing.
Well everyone Stuart's finally put some new videos on my account and of course our web site. I thank him for that. Just click on Lyn Fredrick and you'll go straight to them.
As a sax player of 20 years to say there was no emotion in this girls playing is pathetic. Granted she has copied the solo from Wesley mCgoogan, although i found it faultess
Good news! Serendipity had a gig videod a few weeks ago and we watched it for the first time on Monday. There is a lot of good sax samples and these should be edited and uploaded to You Tube in the next week!
Now, now everyone calm down. Its just a bit of fun on You Tube. I will try to get another video on soon, just been so busy gigging. Bless you all, Americans too!
Oh dear another YANK who doesnt get it! This is class British Punk. You Americans don't do punk. Lyn for God's sake get some more vids on so you can show these American idiots what you can really do!
I didnt say anything about the style. I was talking about the playing. The song is fine. Maybe it is the recording. I just found the playing lacked expression. There was no emotion for me. It didnt build, etc, it was all at one level. Im sure it sounded better live. Sorry again for the difference of opinion. Keep up the good work!
Lovely Lyn! X

Have you all heard the live version of this song with Hazel and with Jack Lancaster playing the soprano sax ?
What a beautiful sound he gets out of it and for me it's the best version i've heard of this song, you're a close second Lyn :-))

You have the music !
Now that's a incentive to go and buy another saxophone, been a while since i played but everytime i watch you play this tune Lyn i get that tingle down my spine :-))

You can get the music for this solo on Hazel O'Connor's web site. Nicely played Lyn - what set up do you use?
PEEDEE100 3 years ago

As a sax player of 20 years to say there was no emotion in this girls playing is pathetic. Granted she has copied the solo from Wesley mCgoogan, although i found it faultess

Japan have Kaori Kobayashi, Netherlands have Candy Dulfer, USA have Mindi Abair,
Great Britain have Anna Brooks and Lyn Fredrick. How lucky we are in the UK to have two female sax players who can play so well.

Please don't lump all of us "yanks" in that group. I love this one - and so does my sister Mikayla ("mikaylasax" on YouTube).
Go Lyn Frederick!
