  • so my grandma is consider witch because she put herbs on our soup if were sick..lol

  • well yes 400 years ago, that would have been the case, if your grandma was living in this area.

  • nuhh..i live in other country and we believe on it but not just putting herbs means witch..cuz herbal is a medicine..and its pretty good than chemical medicine..

  • Its a hat crime. Anything different want be tolerated by the masses. Sooo sad that this is still happening in 2009.

  • I just found out that a relative of mine was a witch. Her name was Agnes Naismith and she was exected in Paisley, Glasgow in 1697. From what I have heard and found out through books etc, she wasn't an evil woman, but just as the above video says, some where burned at the stake for being herbalists etc.

  • True there were alot of inocent lives taken however there really are evil witches, they may not fly on brooms, or wear black hats but they are real.

  • well this is a couple years old. Today Halloween 2008) UK parliament was presented with a petition to pardon ALL those accused of being witches thru time. Murdered by govt and churches. May they rest in peace!

  • yes check bbc news website

  • shit.....

  • witches are true peep's thats in the bible it's god's enimies you know

  • that was stupid it was just a bunch of names and and a few pics of crossess and stuff BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORIIIIING!

  • just checking

  • again the story deepens with this weekend stories in The Observer, Then Scotsman and Scottish TV. Add to this Channel four news around a month ago.

  • 21st feb, CNN was a video of Mary Martin about Helen Duncan.

  • Over the last few weeks over 70 press articles worldwide about the Helen Duncan pardon.

  • NBC are running a poll on should HD be pardoned. 15000 hits so far.

  • over the last 48 hours has seen a lot media coverage of the pardon of Helen Duncan.

  • Today thier is a leader comment in The Guardian UK, supporting her pardon.

  • Yesterday saw quite a bit on the BBC about Helen Duncan and her pardon.

  • The ceremony yesterday went well, with Mary Martin leading the ceremony, with the actors from the cauldron play, also placing herbs on the memorial. In full dress it added to the event. John Lindsay did a poem as well.

Also has had good press coverage, to try and help Helen Duncan get her pardon.

  • interesting article about Helen Duncan in The Edinburgh Evening News this evening, being the last witch in Britain"and the events of tomorrow.

  • i find this interesting since you know this then did you know that somewhere in i belive rome they hung people acussed of witchcraft on two hooks and let them slowly die the blood stains are suposedly still there

  • No, I had not heard this, but if you learn how many of these people were tortured, it is truly horrible and cruel.

  • For those interested the memorial to these 81 women and men is in Prestonpans, Scotland and has inscribed "Pardoned they are".

  • Aye, pardoned by a twat who bought a pub and title - I'm sure they will all feel better for that ... what's the twat going to do this year, have hooded figures dance around his new totem pole?

  • Well, no, we have a play tonight and tomorrow called The Cauldron. Tomorrow at 2.45 we have a short memorial to 81 women and men. You are more than welcome. The Murals are all produced by people who live and come from Prestonpans or nearby.Who all feel this is sad story that should be told.

  • I might consider it - tell me, what percentage of born and bred Panners are in the cast of the play? How much does it cost, and what percentage of the ticket price goes back to the people of Prestonpans?

  • The play is directed by Malcolm who works in Blockbuster shop, ex PL student, so you can't get more local than than. The cast is a mixture of local and professional. I don't know how much it costs. The ticket price goes all back to Arts Society. The Arts Society is a charity. The Goth employs 28 staff, 90% are local, 95% of profits goes back into the charity to fund future projects within the area. The aim is to raise awreness of the history and creative talent of Prestonpans.

  • aww right - me an some of my pals fi the PYT will come along 2morrow - might be a laff - do we get a discount for being 100% Panners?

  • The witches memorial takes place at 2.45 and that is free. I don't control ticket prices, but we can try!

    see ya tomorrow.
