No! War is no more necessary for getting out of a recession than taking off your clothes is a good way to get attention: both CAN achieve the desired result, but there are other, more constructive ways of achieving the same ends.
Instead of a worldwide war (which ultimately wastes and destroys lives and treasure), we can achieve the same ends - getting out of a recession - by spending on energy reform, universal health care, education / research, and infrastructure. Printing money is the key.
Depressions are fixed by adjusting the structure of production, distorted by the preceding inflationary boom, to be in line with the demands of the consumers. Taking resources away from private sector only makes this process more difficult, thereby deepening and prolonging the depression.
The only way to come out positive on a war is to steal resources, eliminate your enemy, in such a way that the benefits of doing that offset the cost of the war from your side. Of course this sounds malicious, etc. but analyzing it logically, the only way to come out with a better economy through war is to steal. It's very much like a wolf hunting a deer. The wold expends energy in chasing down the deer, but that is more than made up for by the energy the wolf extracts from the deer.
Going into a war is just spending more energy. Sure people have jobs etc., but slaves had jobs as well and they weren't too well off. The only way to fix an economy is to produce, the wealth, the reward is to consume what is produced.

I know who Ron Paul is but allowed my opinion to be formed by the MSM instead of listening to what he has been saying now for over 30 YEARS. When she said "didn' t the war end the depression" I would have liked him to say something like "no you need to go back and read your history, the depression didn't end until after the war, and it didn't end from government actions at all, but in spite of all the government interference" and had he said "and by the way the depression of 1920 ended due to government non interference" that would have put the nail in the coffin.

I've heard of this inflation stuff from Peter Schiff and others for years now. It's coming for sure, it's the only way to eliminate our hefty debt abroad. There's no reason why we can't have a 21st century energy / health care / education / infrastructure reform project, like a domestic Marshall plan, to get us out of the recession now. Deficit spending is still a much smaller % of overall GDP than it was back then.

No! War is no more necessary for getting out of a recession than taking off your clothes is a good way to get attention: both CAN achieve the desired result, but there are other, more constructive ways of achieving the same ends.
Instead of a worldwide war (which ultimately wastes and destroys lives and treasure), we can achieve the same ends - getting out of a recession - by spending on energy reform, universal health care, education / research, and infrastructure. Printing money is the key.

Except that the govmnt DID regulate these banks and TOLD them that everyone has the right to own a home and that they need to start lending to higher risk people...THAT is what ended us up in this mess...Bill Clinton wanted everyone to have a chance to have a home and his administration order these lending institutions to lend these high risk loans..because liberals think that equal opportunity is not enough..that everyone should have equal results, no matter how hard they work.

He didn't say anything about WWII having a role in getting us out of the depression. He said it was cutting taxes after the war was what helped, and the last thing he said was you cannot start a war to get us out of a depression.

War profiteering made a lot of people rich in WWII and all other wars there after. The common people get a job, making shit wages that hardly paid the bills, let alone increased their wealth. I think a lot of people confuse National Economy, with the rich getting richer. If they're making a killing, the market is working, if their loosing their shorts, bad economy. But here at working level, it doesn't change much.

I wouldn't call being lowkey 'respect'. You see, I don't care about Fox or CNN, they are both a part of the major media which has over the years successfully torn this country apart from its essence (the Constitution and the Bill of Rights). For all intents and purposes, Fox is no different from CNN -- they're all merely the Marketing arm of the federal government and big business.

The original point was, should the govt be overspending in a poor economic climate? It's easy to assume govt is different from any other entity, in that it can spend money it doesnt "have" without repercussion. Easy to assume. So easy, Congress keeps on doing it.
Why can't the govt get away with it. Why is it bad to increase the deficit. How can you assume US dollars will inflate with so much poverty in the world. What are the repercussions. Shouldn't the arguments be logical?

If there were ever a moment where the republican party had to chose a better candidate for their party; It would have been Ron Paul. I'm definitely for a government spending but the U.S government should stop bailing out banks that have got us into this economy crises. Why not bailing out the people so they could pay out their debt?

I like the way the Pres & this woman speak about Gov spending & stimulus as if it were some imaginary money that the Gov has in reserve or by working for it. Idiots..don't they realize that money is created by US the taxpayer. So you take my money to give it away to non-productive matters to help them. Brilliant!
