I met DEVO in 1977 at the Fab Mab in S.F. We were their for band. Mark Mothersbaugh, or however you spell his name, was one of the nicest people. He wanted to trade my mini-moog for his. Some of his keys were kaputt. He also wanted my red star pin from the USSR which was the name of our band. He was a very cool, down to earth guy. I enjoyed meeting him. Jerry too. He was more business like. We took a piss together and talked about his band right before they got famous. Great people, DEVO

When I met them they were sleeping in some promoter's office while on tour. Yeah, Mark was down to earth. Jerry was arrogant but they were just a band from Ohio and a good one. I felt good that they made it. They had a message and they weren't playing an alien number. They were trying to show us how we've de-evolved. Just look where we are now. Devo went platinum beyond their wildest dreams. But they are brilliant and deserved it. A bunch of nerds making it rich. I say yes to them.

Mothersbaugh has been making music for TV, films, radio and video games since 1990 including Rugrats, The Life Aquatic, Zak and Daxter and more. DEVO even did ads for Honda Scooters, Pioneer Laser Discs and Miller beer way before this.

There was an article in Mac Addict about how Mark Mothersbaugh uses a Mac to compose and record his music. So it's not like they're endorsing something they don't actually use themselves. And I (have to, at work) listen to a lot of kid's music, much of it based on '60s/folkie/hippie nonsense: Disney's DEV2.0 was one of the most gloriously subversive children's albums EVER, make no mistake.

I was there at the macworld party.... was fuckin sick! I got in and I was under 21. A chick spilt her drink on me and gave me her free drink tickets... I gave em back to her and told her to please go to the bar and buy me the Vodka Special they had. Turned out to be an awesome night. THen the hookers from next door were waiting out the front and that was just hilarious... ahaha

well, there isn't a lot of clips from the macworld show but from what I can hear, yeah the drummer is a bit sloppy.

Turns out it's not Josh Freese on drums (that guy is amazing) but his drum tech!!! Neil Taylor.
