Anyone ever notice how nissan is toyota's top regional contendor when you fairly compare the classes of the cars? Hell, owning both an s12 and 86 would be nice....just gotta find an 86 that doesn't require $30k worth of rebuild now. : /
@datsunfairladyz the corrola was irish made and irish driven, and the s15 was driven by dai yoshihara, japanese. get ur facts right before commenting please.
Darren McNamara Is Driving the Falken AE86, Hes one Hell Of a driver Trust me, If you seen him driving back in Ireland You would Know what iam on about.
the sad part about american drifting is that they always put WAY too much power in them. for godsake, your not gonna race a 1/4 mile with a ferrari. They all say thhat japanese suck cuz they are slow but this is the truth: its not they are slow or they suck or theyre scared of speed, its that theyre technique fails to keep up with american monster engines that does most of it for them!
There is a difference between a drift and a power slide. The former requires skill the latter requires power. It should be obvious what the Americans aim for.
@kuelee311 that's just sliding though haha.. if you were to go to japan, and try and drift with them in your fwd civic, they would probably just laugh at you. dont get me wrong, it still looks cool, but its not actually drifting.
i slide my grand prix around all the time in the winter.
yes, i know. grand prix. eew. its a POS. i'm hopefully getting a new car soon though. i'm looking for a nice JDM import that is rwd.
@IM3GATRONI they are both rear wheel drive cars. the spoiler helps stabilize the car more. i could see how they would not be needed in a front wheel drive car, being as the rear wheels then, would have no reason to be pushed down. but in a rwd car, the spoiler pushes it down more, and gets better grip/handling/stability or whatever you wanna call it. not tryin to be clever, just answering your question.
dude....its a worn out blue top, maybe makes 80whp, havent gotten to dyno it, the LSD is a little worn, it needs all the help it can get....slides a lot easier w/ high lbs in there, if I had more power I would bring it down to 35....plus I'm also drifting w/ stretched tires...when I go sideways, I dont want any flex at all otherwise the tire will de-bead itself, I know from first hand experience, thats why I run so high, but after winter it should b a whole new car, vids will b up in summer ;P
@muharem07 Hmm... watched the video again and it sure looks like a spin out to me.
Look at the front tires as he's closing in on the Levin, smoke from the front tires usually means either slamming the brakes or the angle being too steep for the tires to handle.
Kind of hard to tell because of all the smoke, but I'm pretty sure I didn't see any brake lights. Add to that it was a twin drift battle, he was probably trying to match the speed and angle of the other car.
@muharem07 Got to thank you though, it's nice to have a clean and mature discussion every once in a while which is a surprisingly rare thing here on YouTube :)
@BlurryShadow1 dont plan on findin a cheaop 86...if ur goin with those two cars, just go wit da FC, you'll b betr off in my opinion unless i got the money for the 86...of course the upkeep on dat FC and the rotory engine aint cheap either, especially drifting...but chase yo dreams like i did, u'll get der :)
@swiftdrift56 thanks dude... finally a person answered my question that ive been searching for... lol i was having a hard time finding someones help on yahoo answers...
also if you can tell me, what upgrades should i be looking at in the future for the FC to get more reliability and stuff like that... ?
(haha i recently decided to save my money until i gather around 3000 dollars for the FC.... i have about 300 bucks saved right now.. only 2700 more to go :D)
@BlurryShadow1 um....i would start with suspension and chassis upgrades then some minor engine stuff....reliability wise, that with b hard with that rotory engine...if u want durability, i would swap the motor....me personally, i wouldnt just cuz of the uniqueness of the rotory, plus if u put the time and money into one, they are phenominal drift engines....but its not cheap....but yea, just keep the stock motor and work on the suspension and chassis side of the car cuz thats more pertinent
@swiftdrift56 than the motor end when ur first starting off drifting, cuz u can drift that 13b stock with just minor suspension upgrades cuz its a torquey engine, plenty of power to start off with
@swiftdrift56 ahh thanks man you been alot of help... and yea your probably right that it aint going to be cheap.. so when i turn 16 im going to get a job so i can earn money for drifting... (im 14 right now....)
@BlurryShadow1 no, sadly enough, drifting is not cheap at all...huge recommendation for when u start. get a full set of new rims of ur chioce and tires that best suit the car and horsepower (not too big or too wide) then when u drift, put the factory rims on the back and go to ur local tire shop and get scrap tires that can fit on the stock rim (only costs about 20 to 30 bucks a tire for like 70% tread still on dem) and then stretch them over the rim...then when ur done, switch bak
@BlurryShadow1 the reason why people get stretched tires is 1, it looks cool.. 2, its cheaper for a smaller tire .. 3, it looks cool
what you want to do is go around to tire shops in your area and ask them do they have any tires that they don't want, I.E are damaged or have little tread, flat spots, punchers.. If your going to get into drifting try and get 2-3 sets of rims, 14-15-16s are gona be the cheapest and porb the most common, But make sure they can fit over your brakes
@Reuterskiold 50-80 lbs.??? seriously...thats a bit to tight....even if your runnin stock or close to stock power, u dont need to go much over 40 lbs. if over at all, u have to have grip, or else ur not gonna hav any control
Im a american and i like street drifting because its fun, and i like s13`s because how they drive and look "american cars are ugly and heavy to me".Although this kinda drifting on a figure 8 course looks cheesy and boring. its like " slap 25 advertisment stickers on your car and do huge figure 8 donuts" wow ...neat...and these cars exhaust sound like honda fart cans
@Tnesjed i love how u automatically go to the video game thing...seems like ur not to used to having legit actually come at u with stuff, i was talkin about real drifting in the first place...and btw, regarding to ur first comment, this is only one section they drift out of 7 or 8...this is the only one that is a figure 8...but i wouldnt expect u to know that since ur just a wanna be street drifter :)
@Tnesjed ur so stupid, ur reply made no sense with wut i said....i was never talking about a video game in the first place...im talking real life...competing in a 97 240SX...dont make assumptions til u know the person, or ur gonna make yourself look stupid just like rite now

I think you can get better angles with s15's probably something to do with the wheel base/center gravity? That silva shitted on him when they spun around
and besides neither of those drivers is from the us... :D Daijiro Yoshihara (rockstar s15) is from japan and Darren McNamara (falken ae86) is from ireland.... the reason they drive in the states is i suppose the driver level in the states. only reason i dislike us drifting is that you cant really be competetive unless you have a 650k$ drift car
How did they Ruin it? They have their own drifting, same with Arab drifting and Canadian Drifting, Aussie drifting, etc. It dosnt really matter, if you care so much about hating on it, keep it to yourself.
While I agree that drifting is at it's best when it's creators [Japan] are doing it...just chill out and enjoy the video. These people are, in fact, drifting. If the announcer was speaking Japanese and the drivers were Japanese I'm 100% sure ya'll wouldn't be complaining. If you don't like it, don't watch it end of story.
These people need more practice, and need to learn why people drift at all. IT'S NOT TO LOOK COOL, IT'S TO MAKE A TURN FASTER! Looking cool is useless.
drifting in america is the shit and i literally mean the shit the stuff ur body doesnt want so dumps ta hell out imma go watch sum real drifting frm japan lol haha
@skitzomxer89 they dominate d1 in america and only in america...i saw when that gitten jnr guy when to japan to try sell some mustangs .... he was out drifted by guys who werent even pros ...and hes spose to be the best in america says alot huh
@somerandomaussie he was in a mustang that was not made to drift, he had factory suspension and factory tires, all that had been done to that mustang was it was beefed up to 500 horsepower, so u can understand why those guys could hang with him
@kapoof2 no car is made to drift just some chassis are better than others his mustang had upgraded suspension 2 so it wasnt completly stock and 500hp would be an advantage since the silvias would only prob have 300 or so hp .... comes down to americans rely on 40yr old chassis technology so they cant handle like a 20yo silvia ... its a sad when u think about it
@kapoof2 no i havnt but then why do most d1jp drivers have over 500hp? more hp makes the car easier to drift...mayb not so on a smaller track like ebisu but there are plenty of d1 drivers that can do it quite well
how skilled is it not to mention uninteresting is it to go to a show a watch them drift a figure 8...c'mon"
You realize that this is in Japan. Its a japanese event. And it takes a great amount of skill. Imagine the pressure theyre under. Uninteresting? Idk? I searched drift and I watched drifting and I was satisfied.
whoever said rwd cars are impossible to find in america is wrong, the best you can find in america is probably the s15, and a good starter is a 240 sx coupe or fastback, or an s13
@SmashModeEnt Nissan never imported the S15 to the US. Even the S13 and S14 are only in Naturally Aspirated form. There are not many good drift chassis to use in the United States. Our cars have suspension designs typically better suited to circuit or drag racing, or have some other big flaw in their dynamics. I'd die for an S15.
@SmashModeEnt ...s15? Yeah if its been imported. The s15 is pretty rare and never officially made it to the U.S. and technically the s13 never did in its original form either.
Actually I bought official D1 Goodyear drifting tyres, They minimize the smoke as much as possible, In the D1 there isnt any smoke dude, the reason is because 1, the judges wont be able to see the cars, 2 it makes it unfair for the drivers trailing, 3 the fans would be just looking at smoke. You are thinking of the pethetic yank sport called Formula D, that my freind is judged on smoke...JDM Allstars FTW! :D
Thats a shame, If i was you i would browse some import dealers and check the price rangers. Oh and sorry if i offended you about American drifting. I just think American drifting is a lil naff to say the least =/
its true i got into drifting when i saw initial d A long long long long time ago before drifting was even popular, then tokyo dirft came out suddenly evryone is about drifting -_-.... trying to drift their little honda civics

Why would you dift a car that nice as the AE86?
killercrx91 1 year ago
@killercrx91 the ae86 is one of the best cars to drift, why do you fink so many people use them.
hughestom1212 1 year ago
@hughestom1212 I know that there good to drift but 98% of the cars that do try and drift end up totaled.
killercrx91 1 year ago
@killercrx91 very true good motor bad driver= one less ae86 shame
hughestom1212 1 year ago
What is this? It's cars taking turns very slowly. This is precisely what auto racing isn't.

americans dominate d1 u idiot hahahha ur so stupid u internet drifter i bet u dont even drift ha i bet u dont even know how to hahahaha
skitzomxer89 1 year ago
@skitzomxer89 they dominate d1 in america and only in america...i saw when that gitten jnr guy when to japan to try sell some mustangs .... he was out drifted by guys who werent even pros ...and hes spose to be the best in america says alot huh
somerandomaussie 1 year ago
@somerandomaussie he was in a mustang that was not made to drift, he had factory suspension and factory tires, all that had been done to that mustang was it was beefed up to 500 horsepower, so u can understand why those guys could hang with him
kapoof2 1 year ago
@kapoof2 no car is made to drift just some chassis are better than others his mustang had upgraded suspension 2 so it wasnt completly stock and 500hp would be an advantage since the silvias would only prob have 300 or so hp .... comes down to americans rely on 40yr old chassis technology so they cant handle like a 20yo silvia ... its a sad when u think about it
somerandomaussie 1 year ago
@somerandomaussie if u think that 500 horsepower on a japanese track is an advantage you probably have never experienced 500 horsepower
kapoof2 1 year ago
@kapoof2 no i havnt but then why do most d1jp drivers have over 500hp? more hp makes the car easier to drift...mayb not so on a smaller track like ebisu but there are plenty of d1 drivers that can do it quite well
somerandomaussie 1 year ago
that guy in the ae86 sucked balls man!!!!!!

You realize that this is in Japan. Its a japanese event. And it takes a great amount of skill. Imagine the pressure theyre under. Uninteresting? Idk? I searched drift and I watched drifting and I was satisfied.

I think that Toyota is giving the 8 six a bad name.
SeekerCR 1 year ago
whoever said rwd cars are impossible to find in america is wrong, the best you can find in america is probably the s15, and a good starter is a 240 sx coupe or fastback, or an s13
SmashModeEnt 1 year ago
@SmashModeEnt Nissan never imported the S15 to the US. Even the S13 and S14 are only in Naturally Aspirated form. There are not many good drift chassis to use in the United States. Our cars have suspension designs typically better suited to circuit or drag racing, or have some other big flaw in their dynamics. I'd die for an S15.
nonstophero0079 1 year ago
@SmashModeEnt ...s15? Yeah if its been imported. The s15 is pretty rare and never officially made it to the U.S. and technically the s13 never did in its original form either.

ill take the S15 anyday x]
i hate D1 tho cmon they fucking judge on how much smoke they make how stupid is that id rather watch uphill and downhills anyday now that takes skill
YanYan1337 2 years ago
Actually I bought official D1 Goodyear drifting tyres, They minimize the smoke as much as possible, In the D1 there isnt any smoke dude, the reason is because 1, the judges wont be able to see the cars, 2 it makes it unfair for the drivers trailing, 3 the fans would be just looking at smoke. You are thinking of the pethetic yank sport called Formula D, that my freind is judged on smoke...JDM Allstars FTW! :D
