Very nice Andy, was it a lot of work to squeeze the laser into the NXT light sensor case? You say the laser light is modulated, did you have to add any other electronics or did the laser just replace the existing LED?
@jojoguy10 Each of the pillars/beacons has reflective tape on it that reflects the laser light right back at the sensor. The laser is actually modulated (turned on and off) and this allows the sensor to pick out the reflected light from the background.

I don't understand how it detects the pillars with the laser. Does it "know" when it's there? How does it "know"?
