my biggest advice would be to not bring your heels up towards your butt but keep your legs more straight pushing all the power you got straight into the ground, i think it may give you a few more inches
You have the advantage of being young, more time to train until high school. I started squatting in 9th grade so you can to if you feel like you are able to without discomfort. Otherwise hit dumbbell lunges and leg press
hey umm i was wondering if you has any suggestions for me.
im in 8th grade, about 6'2, 185. white, for what it matterrs.
i cangrab rim off a run, but cant dunk it. my 2 foot jump is about 1.5 inches off rim.
i go to the gym every monday, wednesy, and friday, run evry day. my gym workout for jump consists of step ups, leg presses, and calf raises. at my house i run up a hill i have every now and than.
any tips, critisizm, or tell me if im doing a good job? been doing it for about a month now.
Your gym workout needs to include squats and deadlift. You can throw in leg press, lunges, and step ups now and then but make squats and deadlifts the base of your workout, along with calves although they dont need to be concentrated on. Running every day will not help with your vertical, although I'm guessing you are doing it for cardio. The hill runs are fun but you need to concentrate on becoming beastly in the weight room first. Also keep playing basketball to practice jumping and stay light
if someone was 6'5 and could only do these dunks and still had the audacity to hate on my dunks, i would smack them. sound familiar? seriously dont even think about commenting on mine till u can even come close to the stuff i'm doing
uve got alot better looks like u put on a good amount of muscle 2 man mad props it looks like u gettin bout 4 or 5 inches higher im tryin 2 get sum vids on youtube ill tell u wen they drop
yeah ive been trying to get between the legs but i keep on missing the dunk you should check out my vids, its hard but im gonna keep on trying u should to.
you have a good strength base. but your take offs a pretty slow. stretch your hip flexors and workout on your foot speed and your vert will sky rocket.
not 10 foot rim
you're maybe 7foot
no skill !!!!

when did you first pull the rim down? ive been able to do it for about a month now, and my jump i feel is improving fast.
blinkknot44 3 years ago
I first pulled the rim down a few months into plyometric and calve training as a freshman in high school.

great work!
Doesnt the high vert feel better when its not given but earned with pain and sweat at the squat rack? ;)
AirVangelis 3 years ago
Yes it does. 18 inch foot running vert and about 15 inch 2 foot vert before training. Now about 32 off one and two.

My reach is somewhere around 8'5 to 8'8 (two different measuring devices). I can just about touch the bottom of most nets with both hands.

nice dunks! have you changed from being a 1-foot jumper to a 2-foot jumper?
KeTexNBA 3 years ago
yeah it seems so, i think its because of all the squatting he turned into a power dunker.
ea33 3 years ago 2
Yeah, I had also tried some one foot jumps that day but it was pretty pathetic.
