  • Afternoon, this brought back so many memories. My youth and how easy life was back then. Byeee

  • Just heard Spedding's version.

    Just quietly, it's shithouse...

  • @SpivWiggins Neither versions really have the heart that this one has... needless to say, a sinister heart!

  • I'm "of the era" for what its worth. And watching it now - well- Ted Mulry and his gang were/are as fuckedup as i remembered them. There really is no excuse for that crap IMO. And it's a nicked song to start with.

  • Congrats m8. Whatever they say this a GREAT aussie song.

  • and to think that cute lil girl in the tight white shorts is about 60 right now.

  • i was there on that day,great memories....thanks ted.......rip

  • i'm lovin this:)))"

  • THis song, the clip and the Sydney backdrop from nearly 40 years ago are legendary. I grew up with this, JPY, ANgels,Ackka Dacka.... what more could you ask for...

  • Love this song, thanks for the post.

    R.I.P. Ted.

  • You know, the more I hear this the more I like it. First I dismissed it as silly...but then the music grows on you a little... then you realise theres a story behind it...then you realise its humour (I got you there, no you didn't I was catching my breath) and then theres the ending GET OUT OF MY CAR. Ha, it's brilliant. Such a great change to irony!! A lite rock song to be sure...but unexpectedly great.

  • I would just like to thank all those who came to the Ted Mulry memorial unveiling yesterday & to all the well wishers who have contacted us on the various social media sites as they couldn't attend. Cheers to you all. Steve Mulry.

  • once again best aussie rock

  • r.i.p Ted you great to watch and hear on stage gone toooooo soon

  • great song, i was in first form at high school when this was #1... i saw TMG @ the jolly frog in windsor in 1981 .. i thought that the gig was gunna be a bit old school but he got us all rocking

  • Well she's cute . I prefer Spedding's . His guitar sound is ace + I think his voice is fine . Don't get mad now nzoz . Just an opinion . Nice to hear the original + it is a great tune . I just think Chris takes this basic Rock 'n Roll tune + makes it a bit more suave . As a whole the Spedding album it's on is fantastic . All of it .

  • @stevemangler1 It's fine. You don't come across like a know-it-all prick (I know, I know, I do....). Drummer Herman Kovacs admitted to me that Spedding achieved what TMG were trying to do with the song. Chris's version wouldn't have been # 1 and TMG needed chart action.... just like The Hoff needs attention.

  • @stevemangler1 Your opnion sucks. Ted mulray gangs version shlts all over speddings.

Mulrays have real aussie... all nice like "cmon" and then.. "get out" like when the dog farts.. works perfectly.

speddings dosnt have the same tone and is drool...like he is just going through the motions.

  • This song inspired Ivan Milat

  • Chris Spedding has also recorded this one. Sounds great!

  • A great piece of Oz rock'n'roll! :)

  • charming message for young girls eh

  • Brilliant! TMG are super rock-n-rollers Aussie style! Also fancy the Chris Spedding Version. Wish it was the 70's all over again (well, in some ways).

  • thanks so much, loved it

  • SOUTH OF SYDNEY ROUGHLY 80 MILEZ!! FUKN WOOLONGONG... AINT DA END OF DA EARTH BUT YA CAN SEE IT FROM DERE!! SUTHOBOY 4 LIFE!!...666...

  • @SATANWANJINA So whats on, in Woolongong?

  • @Forserean Aunty Jack

  • Thought I was going insane, all I could find was the David Hasselhoff version but I knew there was an older version. Glad I found it.

  • I didn't know it was original song by a Australian band called Ted Mulry Gang. i first heard it by David Hasselhoff.

  • Ace

  • To all the dumb ass's that don't appreciate good classic music . GET A LIFE

  • I thought this song was by David Hasselhoff, this is so much better :)

  • @BrightProductions yeah, it's a shame that the novelty version gets the attention, whilst the original (Ted Mulry) and Chris Spedding's version is less known. Lucky this verison was # 1 in Australia in '75, so it has some significance to a point.

  • @nzoz1975

I only know Chris Spedding version (a shame that Hasselhoff covered this). Cool number..

  • @BrightProductions no this is the original it is is much better than the remake

  • @BrightProductions How old are you this song has been around for 35year,s and it,s a better sont David,s HOFF

  • @BrightProductions Where have you been this song has been around for 35 years or more better than David the HOFF,S

  • @BrightProductions What Year where you born??????????

  • @BrightProductions

you serious , where you been , what you know ?

  • Youtube is just so full of dimwitted cretins who think it's incredibly important to take the piss out of things just for the sake of it. Here's a thought, morons, take yer hands off yer infantile cocks for five seconds and go outside and see what the real world has to offer.

  • What a cracking song and video! I wish I could go back to the 70's and not as a 13 year old. I was 13 in 1975 and didn't appreciate the great times.

  • a kangaroo could write a better song than this

  • @xxdrew333xxx

I just couldn't be bothered dealing with stupid cunts like you, so I think I'll do a copy & paste:

    Quote from FrankCleocuz:

Youtube is just so full of dimwitted cretins who think it's incredibly important to take the piss out of things just for the sake of it. Here's a thought, morons, take yer hands off yer infantile cocks for five seconds and go outside and see what the real world has to offer.

  • @nzoz1975 I have gone out into the real world and seen and HEARD what it has to offer and that's why this "song" sounds like shit in comparison.

  • @xxdrew333xxx

You stupid fucking cunt! And what are you saying? The rest of us haven't? Just fuck off and quit trolling your shit. There are people on here who are wiser and more worldly than you are, so get the fuck off your vibrator and get a reality check. Most of us view this because we like it and your stuck up view means shit to us. You are a stupid 28 year old American.. SLAP SLAP! Now fuck off!

  • @nzoz1975 wow, that hurt and it wasn't even me copping it.

  • @nzoz1975 you accused me of not going out into the real world...did you forget that you said that?

  • @xxdrew333xxx in comparison to what? The pyramids in Egypt? The Great Wall Of China? London Bridge? I'm confused. I've been out there too, traveled the world, been entertained and enlightened by what it has to offer and still have no trouble enjoying this song, no matter where I am. Great song - respected English guitarist Chris Spedding did a version of it and I'm pretty sure he too had seen what's out there. I think you should stop trying to be witty and just stick to being an idiot.

  • @MrRickSpence he accused me of not getting out into the real world, I was just defending myself.

  • @xxdrew333xxx i don't think he was making any accusations. Either way, you did make quite a stuck-up statement, so you have to be prepared to take what's coming to you. It's pointless making negative comments on music you don't like - especially when there are so many others who would oppose your view. There wasn't even anything clever in your comment. The humour was poor and it just struck most of us as you being a troll. Defend yourself all you want. You did ask for it.

  • @xxdrew333xxx YOU ARE SUCH A TOSSER

  • @sharyn452

" I have gone out into the real world and seen and HEARD what it has to offer" and the best he come up with is "a kangaroo could write a better song than this"... you really have to give it to Americans. Even at nearly 30 years of age, they can still come out soundling like stupid-self-delusional teenagers...

  • @nzoz1975 the best I could come up with was a kangaroo could write a song better than this?...well no I could've done better but that's all it took to get a reaction out of you. Don't know what being american has to do with this. Most of my favorite bands aren't even american. My only point is this song is just a run of the mill generic blues song. How this song got any exceptional attention is beyond me.

  • @xxdrew333xxx okay... you wanted to get a reaction out of me and others and you got it. Now fuck off. We like it. This is not for you. We don't care about your opinion. You visited, you didn't like it and now you can fuck off.

  • @nzoz1975 I wasn't trying to get a reaction. You said all I could come up with was "a kangaroo could write a better song" My question is, if that's such a lame statement then why did you react the way you did? Don't say someone else is childish and unworldly when you behave like a 10 year old when you feel insulted. And also take a look at all your uploaded videos (all australian bands) maybe you need to get out into the world more man.

  • @xxdrew333xxx I know this response isn't to me directly, but how do you figure that somebody who uploads music of his nations indicates that he hasn't travelled? You made a lame comment on a music-clip that many people enjoy. It's not what you're offending that most of us find to be pathetic. It's the fact you chose to make a negative comment on something that has nothing to do with you. It's just an arrogant thing to do on you behalf, so expect the feedback.

  • @MrRickSpence Read everything before you comment. He accused me of not getting out in the real world. My scope of musical interest spans far beyond the US whereas based off his uploaded videos there doesn't seem to be a world outside of Australia. And this song is just a standard generic blues song. Quite literally the smartest kangaroo we can find could write a better song. Not knocking Australia, I like the people and the country even though I've never been there, just don't like the song

  • @xxdrew333xxx "Quite literally the smartest kangaroo we can find could write a better song."

Really mate? A kangaroo could kick your lights out "quite literally". If you don't like it, why make a fuss about it.

  • @clay2606 Alright these comments have been fun but I've got better things to do now...

  • @xxdrew333xxx

RE:well since we live in Australia off course we promote Aussie music ( dumb ASS )

  • Memories of the disco on wheels. "roller boogie" as we called it. Life was simple

and good, I'd ride my transparent "condor" skateboard to the milkbar and for

20 cents I'd get a pie, tab cola and pack of colvan chips. My kids are wondering

why they haven't heard this music before. OZ music in the 70's was brilliant, it

wasn't fucked with. It was solid and direct. Video didn't sell music. music sold itself.

  • (1)At 0:20 Ted looks around like he just said the raciest thing ever for 1975. Check it out gang; I vaguely alluded to sex on camera, y'all see that gang? The editor should halve clipped out the montauk monster Ted turns into at 1:00 into.

If some girl is 84 miles away from home; a true sleaz would wonder what the story was so they could exploit it. "You've been molested by how many...?". Jackpot Ted. Don’t get me wrong, if Ted’s cool enough to get Steve Harris to sing back up for him--- (2)

  • Comment removed

  • @LEATHERrebelJUSTICE -(2)- he’s doing pretty good. I like how he concedes to being caught by her saying “You‘re all the same” but the next thing he said is that she didn’t get him. Some unclearity between what’s Ted’s inner monologue and what’s not. I like his manipulative tactic that rain will kill you. It’s good to note the upgrade that since the 70’s we swapped out the movement of the hips to the rhythm for the movement of the head. ---- (3)

  • @LEATHERrebelJUSTICE (3)- I thought the movement of the hips was suppose to get girls to associate sex with the song; in which case it’s bad advertising to do it to a slow paced song. I see from this video that facial expression is less important than cloths. I hate those 70’s cloths Ted has but he still registers as likable. And if you can’t tell, that’s a complement.

  • @LEATHERrebelJUSTICE (4) I meant facial expressions are as important as cloths.

  • as a sydneysider, i have never seen a gig played on wooden planks in front of the opera house. dont they do that these days, feel as if im missing out

  • @kristalklass Ted Mulry has a daughter??????

  • This reeked in the seventies and it reeks now .

  • Should be the Australian national anthem.

  • TMG's original had that typical Australian take-the-piss-out-of-everything humour that the Hoff just can't match. TMG's male guitarists doing the 'female' counter-vocals - hilarious!!

  • Gosh ! I remember being at a party in St Kilda, these guys were there, enough said'

amazing, my lips are like so sealed until my book comes out'

    xx

  • Gosh ! I remember being @ a party in St Kilda, these guys were there, enough said'

amazing, my lips are like so sealed until my book comes out'

    xx

  • The Gorgeous Girl who first appears at 2:25 is our dear friend Michelle Rae Cook, b. 9th July 1961 - d. 19th August 2010 - She was a huge fan and left footprints on the hearts and souls of all who knew her. Gone but never far XOXOX

  • @whitewings1933 Kudos to you Whitewings, farewell to your dearly departed friend also :-(

  • Who wants to listen to Rap when you can listen to THIS rock ON TMG

  • Before Hasselhoff destroyed this song, Ted Mulry Gang rocks!!!!

  • land of Oz of music

  • the hoff wants to jump in your car

  • @KingSatyr THE HOFF IS PISSED AGAIN

  • .....Ted you were the best!!!

  • top stuff feeling really old now but shit we had the best bands and music around

    thanks for putting this up

  • Although this IS the original....Chris Spedding took this tune by the scruff of the neck, filled it with attitude and shook it loose.

This sounds like a weedy Mud ripp off.

    Get on yer way......whell ?

Still ..thanks for the upload,I didn't knew Mulry was the writer.

  • Although I have to admit ,this grows on you,

Typical early 7T's chart music. It has it's charm.

Better than the soulless crap we're being force fed today.

Not for nothing, Spedding(a sound smart dude) took this to cover.

  • can anybody say cocaine ? homeboy needs a cheeseburger fo' sho'

  • originals are the best.

  • Don't forget the founding members are Scottish.

  • @Jamierfc1807 hahaaaaaa get out of that you aussie fuckers!!!

  • The English can fuck off.

AC/DC belongs to us Scots and the Aussies.

  • Que raridade!

  • From reading the comments I'd just like to point out a few things:

    - AC/DC were actually born in scotland (except the drummer) and grew up in Perth

    - Ted Mulry was British

    - There is an AC/DC lane in Melbourne, the sign does not 'regularly' get stolen however. (depends on the definition of regularly, if once every 5 years is regularly then yes).

  • @NJJ77 actually dude theres no / in ACDC lane .... some stupid Melbourne law forbids it .... and who cares if they were born in scotland? The Youngs moved here because life over there sucked, plus to be fair the original founding members of AC/DC didnt include Angus at all ... it was Malcolm and two of his mates Larry and Colin.

  • @NJJ77 You're totally right and the first Australian settlers were Britts too..... Australian heritage is vast and glorious and even if you're not born an Aussie you can still become one.... Except Kiwis.. (LOL jokes we love out cuzzy-bros!!)

  • @NJJ77 ....Teds Heritage was British but he grew up in Australia. In fact he went to the same high school as i did in the 70's and he will tell you he is Aussie.

  • @NJJ77 Phil is from Melbourne and don't 4get that most of the bands previous members were Australian

  • dont ya just wish that these guys were still rockin and all life was sweet...??

  • yeah aussies and ACDC belong together. their ours.

  • acdc played a long way to the top in MELBOURNE thank you very much.

  • they had two versions and one of them involved them on the back of a truck going up Swanston Street

  • these boys have just ripped this off the musical genius david hasslehof....

they need to start writing there own stuff...

  • you have got to be kidding?

Read the date of this song and the description, thank you!

  • no mate not kidding this is far to cheesy when david performs it he brings an honesty to the table and his video to it takes things to new heights... these guys are wannabes but david is up there with elvis and lennon...

  • of course... you're right! It makes perfect sense. How could I have not worked out that TMG were looking into the future at what some drunken has-been had done to their song and then decided to copy him. It takes no talent to look into the future...

  • I think he was joshin.

  • hence the reason I treated him like an idiot.

  • really... haha

  • @leicestergux But your mum didn't mind gargling there cum and when they saw she didn't swallow they threw her out of the trailer to the road crew who banged her slop holes like the slut she is and look at you you 9 months later ,,,hey whose ya daddy

  • I think that story belongs to Rose Tattoo... ha, ha

  • well according to you my daddy is either one of the band or the road crew... at least ive narrowed it down to about 10 were as in the case of your mother your father could be any fucker...

  • @leicestergux , hasslehoff who????? he was still crappin his diapers when this was a big hit..... this is classic

  • the day this becomes a classic is the day the whole world shits itself let alone hasslehoff!!!

  • the drunken Hasselhoff has probably shit his pants so many times he only wears brown trousers.

the only thing Hasselhoff can do good is get drunk and pass out.

id say he is a has-been, but lets be honest, he was never something to begin with.

  • I think I finally figured out what the mystery album seen at 1:17 and 2:49 is. Its Ted's "I Won't Look back" Solo album from 1973.

  • If you have a look at John Paul Young's 'I Hate Music' video on my nzoz1976 account, you'll notice the blonde girl who stars in this video also makes an appearance.

  • And very good spotting... I wouldn't have picked up on it!

  • this song sucks!

  • Says who, Someone who doesn't like music?

  • I was around in the 70's, served in Nam wasn't my choice but wasn't as bad as some make out. Came back to Oz in 71 Music was great, chicks were hot, cars were great and affordable, owned HK GTS, Falcon GT, XU-1 food was good, Pizzas were bought from shops owned by Italians. It was a great time

  • I was at the Big Day Out yesterday.... music was so-so and most of the chicks looked the same.

  • FUCKIN TERRIBLE,no wonder i hate australia and everything about her

  • Oh we are a she are we?

  • lol, i would ignore his comment if i were you. Do people like him need to be answered to?

  • Nah you are right why did I waste my time?

  • haha nail on the head pal...

  • where I can download the song?

  • Were you guys really living in the 70s - it was a shit time to live - what could you do? not much. BUT it did mean we got off our asses a lot more to see bands like TMG Hooks Angels Radiators etc. but come on... music it has to be said was the upside...everything else was down

  • mate really...? I had a Falcon GT, never got STD's live music was EVERYWHERE, Vietnam had finished, wine was pure, tobacco was tobacco, farmers had money, we had industry and manufacturing and China was a red blob on the map..I could go on and on...but the 70;s and late 60's were unique times in Australian society and U would swap 6 years of my life now for one year in 1970-1979

  • You are a few years older than me... i was starting primary school when the vietnam war was on... so the 1960s are a blur. The mid to late 70s, when i was in high school were years to forget, except for music, footy and cricket. But the food was bland, poor public transport, high unemployment, inflation, corrupt state governments - and no multi-culturalism. The baby boomers born early to mid 1950s took the best jobs and got a head start. Life got a lot better from the mid-1980s onwards.

  • @davidg5969 WOW..ahem..nope, you got your facts wrong there with many of those examples my friend..viz public transport was great, we had security, we had conductors taking our fares and helping the elderley, no machines back then...there were even staff at stations to watch over things, unlike today...and because we hadn't overcrowded our cities, most days un-employment was unheard of, even year 10 got you a job, and apprenticeships were readily avaible in all industries....more

  • ? as to food, bland you may call it, but there was no genretically modified foodstufs, mince was for your pets, stock were fed on grass and grain only,,and roamed in paddocks not in feed lots for finishing, chickens were not fed antibiotics and pigs were fed left over milk from the dairy amongst other things like real vegies and cereal! Inflation (as it was), came with the fuel crisis in the late 70's but compared to 21% housing loans of the late 1980's it was sweet fa.....

  • if you check all the major projects and utilities for will find State governments actually got things done back then because we had strong Premieres...as for multi-culturalism...that was a term invented by Al Grasby, (hardly a man of integrity) and there is NO question the concept failed miserably. or dont you leave you own home much and travel through your own city? Eating the food of other peoples doesnt equate with successful immigration imhoanyway..Happy New Year..Im having Thai tonight!

  • Aussie rock in the 70's was, quietly ,very ahead of the rest.

  • behave mate... we had queen, motorhead, acdc, thin lizzy, plus tons more,.....

    jesus christ man

  • uhhh im pretty sure AC/DC was a melbourne band... infact theres a lane called AC/DC lane in melbourne. The sign regularly gets stolen.

  • No, AC/DC were a Sydney band, that eventually moved to Melbourne.

  • Time for the interstate rivalry to kick in! AC/DC is ours! Long way to the top down Swanston street in Melbourne.... not Oxford street in Sydney! oh yeah... I went there.

  • That came out wrong... I went there as in... I went down that path of insult.... not I went there for a fudge donut.

  • @nzoz1975 Lol then they eventually moved to Adelaide when they met Bon Scott for the first time he was actually their chauffeur for a while

  • Why not you Aussie fuckers take everything from us Kiwis go rape your baby eating dingo you inbred fuck

  • you attack your brothers... you bring shame on new zealand... you bring shame to the kiwi soldiers... you bring shame to the ANZAC soldiers that died at gallipoli... you bring shame on your country your people and yourself...

  • @unicronsundies go fuck some sheep

  • @unicronsundies... Ah sad really - you see Aussie actually love the guts of our Kiwi cousins - they are a source of pride and deep camaraderie and we'll share your joys... In the past decade the attitude of some our Kiwi Cousins (like yourself) has resulted in a "whats mine is mine and whats yours is mine..." You are an embarrassment to our two countries true friendship.

  • @unicronsundies You can have Russel Crow back.

  • Don't take Thin Lizzy away from the Irish, you bastard and don't take AC/DC away from us Aussies. We're proud of them and will fight for that band.

We even have a street sign named after them. Fuck off.

  • @nzoz1975 Lol totally agree dude and when a Pom says mate it doesnt seem right either

  • @nzoz1975 Too right

  • @nzoz1975 A bank of amplifiers behind them and they still sound like a complete bunch of stiffs.

  • Comment removed

  • @leicestergux What the fuck mate who do you think you are AC/DC are Australian always have been always will so piss off.

  • @DKLillee355 Well Bon Scott, Malcolm and Angus Young were all born in Scotland and Brian Johnson Is English. So not many Australians in there is there?

  • @mindriot333 they were born overseas so was the Easybeats, The Twilights, even Ted Mulry but they took citizenship and identify themselves as Australians mind you Irish singer Johnny Logan should be considered an Australian singer because he's from Melbourne

  • @leicestergux ac/dc were a very product of villawood, and the australian scene of the 70's. what say you about rose tattoo, the angels and other AUSTRALIAN bands of that era?

  • Great song! I want someone jump in my car :)
