Are there good reasons to believe in Heaven? The Atheist can say Heaven is a crutch for those too weak to deal with death. If you look back in the 1800's and 1700's there were "theories" put forth in the field of physics that were tested and correct. These are were referred to as the "Laws of Physics." In the early 20th century science stopped using the term "laws" and replaced it with "theory". This was done because we realized that these "laws" or "theories" may only be true for one subset of the universe. If the Big Bang was perceived in the 1800's, we would know it now as a "Law" not a "theory"

What's really funny is that if you talk about the tooth fairy being real you are considered an idiot and crazy, and if you don't believe in GOD your idiot and crazy. For the record......the Tooth Fairy has just as many MAGICAL POWERS as GOD. Santa Claus is a close second. With the slay and reindeer it's a close argument for first place. Anyway, that's my opinion and I'm sticking to it!

Remember kids, truth stays the same for many, many, many years. The truth is supposed to hurt and make you uncomfortable, and the truth is supposed to make you angry. If I die in the line of fire, I die for what I believe. I believe in God and I believe in my country, and I believe in my family. Nothing wrong in dying for what you believe. If you believe any different it shouldn't be an issue. Die for what you believe not what someone else believes. It's a deeply personal issue, whatever you find peace and love in, is what you give your life to protect.

Its because the army doesn't allow you really to put atheist on your dog tags. At first they put my mother's religion after they put no religious preference. If you come out as an atheist while in the army you get hounded by the chaplin out of the 3 I had in my unit all of them were just like this LTC.

Hey it's like this. People that hurt...hurt other people. IF you are religous great! I only have a problem when you think you have facts about what happens to others if they don't think like you. It's your opinion that is it! Opinions are nothing but someones belief but once you put fact in the sentence you are very much co-dependent. I'm anti-theist because of the way many procreate for god, damage the planet for god...show bigotry because of god..etc. That is of course not all people under god

You don't have to believe in God to be okay with death. As a matter of fact, I would venture to say people who don't believe in God are more okay with death than people who do believe in God. When I die, I'm dead. I don't need to comfort myself by believing that I will join some guy in a magical place called heaven. Peace.

@tenofivelips It is not about what you are okay with or not. The honest logical person considers what is most likely to be the truth. Are there good reasons to believe there is nothing after death? Are there good reasons to believe in Heaven? The Atheist can say Heaven is a crutch for those too weak to deal with death. The Christian can say the Athiest holds his view because it is easier to believe there is no God than to believe he is going to Hell.

Being an Athiest is the polar opposite of being religious. In all honesty we have no clue whats coming to us. Agnosticism is a intelligent approach and non offensive!

i rather be worm dirt and be reboted. i rather become something else then stay forever as one thing. i dont know how it fells to be death. i only know that people who died are still part of our world. their actions have left a mark. its more important to life the life you have rather then dream of a next. as long as i get to be in this universe il be happy. i dont need after life to make me happy.

Why do Tillman's personal beliefs matter? Although he most likely was an atheist, there should be no affiliation between his inner beliefs and his death. Atheists don't attack Christian soldiers when they die - quite the contrary. Why should theists attack atheist soldiers when they are killed, fighting for the same cause as the men and women alongside them?
An example of how religion makes normal people do evil things.

Some people are dicks, whether they're religious or not - I am Catholic, but I don't deny that some Catholics are... zealots. Or just idiots. But the same goes for Atheists, Muslims, Jewish people etc. It's all part of the rich tapestry that we call humanity.
