Driver Parallel Lines got slated pretty badly and I cant help but think it was just because it is a `sandbox` and people compare it to GTA as some sort of benchmark rather than its own game.

I love the game,it felt busy, felt alive an just entertained. The story was good too, naive kid gets caught up in something bigger then him and after 28 years goes out to correct it. I felt more connection to this game than Driv3r.There was something very life on mars about the time travelling element too!

Driver Parallel Lines is extremely underrated.

Driver Parallel Lines is one of the best games, but it very underrated because you can't do that many things than you can in GTA.

You can't enter helicopters, you cannot do taxi, police etc. missions, Taxi's are always empty, and in GTA, there can be 2 or more people inside a vehicle.

Otherwise, Driver Parallel Lines is the best in cars, destruction, and the good thing is that it is very, VERY realistic, way more than GTA games!

It had impressive model damage, I have to admit it, a thing we see only from GTA IV onwards on their side, but as early as DRIV3R we were able to destroy cars pretty realistically - when they blow up, they litterally are SLICED IN PIECES!

@AimalCool you CAN do the taxi missions in D4, they're many taxis parked in New Jersey, South Jersey, Long Island, West Queens, Bronx, East Uptown/Manhattan,

Harlem, Southeast Brooklyn/North Coney Island.

@AimalCool What annoys me in comparison to GTA is when you carry a passenger and your car brokes down, you get off and expect the passenger to follow you into another car, but he doesn't! So you have to start the mission again.

@AimalCool I played this game on the PC version most of these features are in fact available. There are taxi style missions around there is almost always two cops in each patrol car in the big cities (a nice real touch). It's actually very similar IMO but better driving simulation and feel. But i am enjoying this latest driver over all the competition from burn out need for speeds or GTAs and other crash related games it is the best of all worlds.
