@MsInformed01 Look im 10 years old and cldnt possibly beat the world record yet - i started pulling sub 6's when i was 8 1/2 - i used to come home from school and would use the ergo after tea - now im 10, im only a bit faster than i was, the best ive pulled was a 5.49 and that was after brekker the other morning, but i was late for school so cldnt really concentrate plus i had my duffle coat on and blew up a bit with 250 to go. my plan is to hit 1.25 splits maybe next wk. im 6ft 4 and 14 stone
you can't compare ergo times with times in boat... ofcourse you go slower in boat, you would know if you rowed only once. But ergometer times correlate with rowing strenght. Example: N.Skelin pulled 1:26.2 few months ago on ergo, that is 5:45 and in single he can't go under 7 minutes... the main difference between ergo and boat is balance.
The erg times don't really translate, Rob Waddell holds the world record (I think) with 5:33 on an erg but his single scull times are like 6:30s and he wins. But it's a good indication.
i do a 6:46, im 75kg, the guy who said about single sculling is wrong, the times dont translate directly into the boat but they are the best tool for increasing your lactate threshold and V02 max. Weight is an advantage on the erg but not in a boat because it increases drag when the boat sits lower in the water. Neverthless it is still the best physical assesment tool in rowing especially combined with a weight factor adjustment
if you dont believe, you can go onto usrowing, go under high school/juniors and browse through the submitions for jr national team. i think its under april or may.
@MsInformed01 Wow, you clearly missed the sarcasm (I row lightweight by the way). Ragging on people who've posted their erg times on YouTube help you sleep at night?
wen i was 16 i did 2k in 6.46...hu cares? age doesn't matter terribly much, it's about your heart..whether or nt you have the strength to do it..do you have the heart??

It doesn't matter how old you are but how big, strong and heavy. They didn't invented weight correction for nothing.

The guy in red has a longer stroke - should be rowing faster. One thing I dont like about the rower is that there is no feather like real rowing
