@Ih8escalators Oh, cut Andy some slack. I sent him those fixtures. I both live IN and ON Long Island...whichever sounds better to those who don't live here. No biggie. :-)
if the starter in the balist stops working you can wire one in the wires going to the lamp I do it at work on the cloud lights because when the lamps go bad they will blink for hours till the starter blows out but the new lamp will start if you wigle the socket
There are two ballasts because the first ballast will reduce the amount of electricity going to the second ballast (in the light) which will reduce the electrical current even more. If I am not mistaken, the first ballast can also act as a backup for the second ballast if that fails.
Andrew, try reversing the plug on the lamp. It may cause it to be blinkier, much like reversing the starter will. That, or try installing a G.E. circline lamp in it. Those tend to be more blink-happy.
The F8T5 homemade strip light was made by Dave Lay (davidfromAE here on YouTube).
I like the circline fixture on the ceiling! I see you didn't waste any time installing it! :-D
You should keep it on for some more time after turning it on, or you are going to burn out the filaments with all that switching. We have quite many preheat fluorescent lights around the house, I have even replaced some since the ballast got all crispy. They are neat and gets the job done.
@erlendse he has burnt out a lamp already in under 17 hours with the constant on off cycles.
I know the blinking can be addictive I like when neon signs are starting to go bad they are more cool wen they flicker and it gets more attention to the sign
FOR THE ONE MILLIONTH TIME, ITS ON LONG ISLAND! NOT IN LONG ISLAND!
