  • on top of that, every year, eric clapton does a concert series called "CROSSROADS" in which he donates all proceeds to fight drug addiction in Haiti-- A predominant BLACK country!!

  • to call eric clapton racist is really absurd and deplorable and doesnt even know what the hell they are talking about. if you look at his musical career, the man plays about 70% blues. and what is blues? mainly black music isn't it? DUHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!! BOB MARLEY IS BLACK--- I SHOT THE SHERIFF! HELLO!! LOL STUPID people i swear

  • es una cancion preciosa, el dia de san valentin de 2010 fallecio mi madre y era una de sus canciones preferidas, ¡ hasta siempre mama !

  • carpetbomb and wallpaper this. sir eric fuckton refused once to play with a black group called b.m. and the wailers.this hypocrit shitbag ,whos is kissin the ass of her majesty the bitch is nothing but a racist. the most overrated guitarplayer of all times. sir eric ,you are a shame to the world of true music.keep on farting at the royal banquet, and kissin ass.thats what you nazi deserve.even bill gibbons is a genius outshined musician in comparison to lord cleptofax.and now fukkk ovvv

  • @sverddansar77 "The Crossroads Festival is a music benefit concert first held in 2004.Founded by Eric Clapton, a drug treatment center located in Antigua. The concerts are also intended to be a showcase for a variety of guitarists. All were hand-picked by Eric Clapton himself, who addressed the 2007 audience, saying that each were some of the very best, and those who had earned his respect." ***NOW SHUT THE FUCK UP WITH YOUR ERIC CLAPTON'S RACIST ACCUSATIONS...DUMBASSS!!!

  • where is bass

  • treés bonne...

  • Hello great vid I saw Eric in Budapest check out europeantourvideos com

  • It's amazing how young he still looks.

  • Eric Miller 500 is correct, thats what I remember hearing years ago! Have a listen to his version of this song on the old grey whistle test from 1977! Leaves this lame version for dead!

  • the soloing goes off aimlessly drifting away from theme and seems lame compared to some other work

  • I shot the nigger, but i did not shoot no mexicans

  • Who are these bitches singing? I don't want to hear them, I want to hear Clapton being a boss! It's impossible to ruin Clapton, but they sure come close.

  • eric oldi :(

  • his guitar has a sick peppermint color

  • Thank you for the post! Beautiful tones off of that strat - Clapton is a monster at creating subtle and memorable solos!

  • lOVE THAT lICK ( 7:20 ) !!

  • Those two woman ruin the song!

  • sorry to say it, but the old clapton version of this song is so much better. get back the old backround singers, please. he's trying to sound too much like bob here. love both of those guys but bob should sound like bob, clapton should sound like clapton

  • @ericmiller500 - in relation to him breaking strings and staying on stage to restring...Clapton told his official biographer, Ray Coleman, that, "My nickname of 'Slowhand' came from Giorgio Gomelsky. He coined it as a good pun. He kept saying I was a fast player, so he put together the slow handclap phrase into Slowhand as a play on words"

  • he's wringing that guitars neck good in the last few minutes - love it

  • eric cane play evrything

  • @peaves01 hes a bluesman

  • I'm a massive clapton fan love all his music, but at the risk of sounding ignorant or something why do they call him 'slowhand'?

  • @peaves01 Clapton gained the nickname “Slowhand” during his stint playing Blues with John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers, he also released an album named Slowhand in 1977. It was his guitar technique that gained him that title.

  • @ericmiller500 as far as i know, clapton used to break a lot of strings during his early days and while he was retuning his guitar patiently on stage, people were slowly hand clapping him.. and that became slowhand :)

  • @contremisart Sounds good to me :). I'm sure there are a few more theories too. Anyone alse got any ideas?

  • @ericmiller500 he says in his book it was the string breaking thing:)

  • @ericmiller500 Its due to him being slow clapped as he changed his string in his beano days as stated above.. Its in his autobiography so no need to theorise.. Cool knickname eh name eh

  • @peaves01 @ericmiller500 he plays really fast but his hand moves "slowly", which means slower than one would expect given the solos he plays. This is what I've been told to be the reason for the nickname

  • @mikepa1988 honestly i dun like being offensive or nasty with regards to comments but do you really believe that! Is hand moves slowly? what ? it comes from him being slowly claped as he changed is stings during his time with john mayal! its in his book! I play guitar and you hand moves a s fast as it needs too, no more no less...

  • @EL78LIMO well that's what i was told, and it obviously doesnt mean his hand moves slowly, you can move your hand "softly" while being fast, so it kindda looks like its slower than it should be, but anyway, now that i've read it somewhere else i see you where right

  • @ericmiller500 contremisart is right! Thats what Clapton wrote in his biography :)!

  • @ericmiller500 this one may seem kinda obvious, but he does have slow hands.

  • @ericmiller500 I believe contremisart is correct.

  • @ericmiller500 Eric got the name while with The Yardbirds, people would "slow"hand clap while he restrung his guitar.

  • @ericmiller500 Nice seats btw

  • @contremisart That's also the story I know about his nickname. Breaking his low gauge strings and replacing them while the audience waits patiently and giving a 'Slowhand' clap

  • @contremisart Thats Correct! He tells the story in his Book that's exactly why

  • @peaves01 when he broke a string ..the crowd would clap slow while he changed his string. slow hand clap turned into slow hand clapton.

  • @peaves01 Yeah its coz it sounds like he plays quickly during solos, licks, riffs whatever but really he's not moving that fast at all.

  • Hey kids, I have an idea, let's ask Eric's guitar tech about the signal chain! Who is his tech these days?

  • the gorgeous daphne blue strat!!

  • eric clapton en argentinaaaaaaaaa

  • I saw this show at Madison Square Garden and this was a highlight of the set. Clapton played an incredible extended guirar solo.

  • Best version is definitely the one on Crossroads Festival 2004.

  • this version (even if in 2010 he was fat and looked a bit bad and old) is superb!

  • Eric Might have "chot de cheriff some years back. Here he looks like 'chit an doesn't sound much better.

  • ERIC PLEASE VISIT CRACOW

  • @giedozetkr1 Teraz mamy gdzie przyjmować takich gości, prawda?:)

  • @boski05 choćby i na błoniach

  • @giedozetkr1 A nowe stadiony!?:)

  • @giedozetkr1 please visit CASABLANCA

  • I was there. Was a great show!

  • The strat just dont sound right comin thru that Marshall......

  • @Uz2Brockstar You 'dont sound right comin thru' this comment...

Listen to Hendrix: mostly strat with Marshall cranked up. Pure beauty.

And to be specific: Eric isn't playing only through that marshall, you can see a fender next to it.

  • @likenootherhh That little fender will not fill that arena with sound. And since its not miked up and cant go direct I doubt its being used on this song. My comment was just my what my ears are telling me, sound is subjective as you should know. And a lot of Hendrix songs were done with sunn amps also. Would you care to enlighten us on Claptons signal chain at this show? I would be interested to hear it from someone who knows.

  • @Uz2Brockstar He really is using that fender amp ;) Notice the fender is on the 4x12 speaker cabinet just as the marshall head. The fender is simply run through those speakers, which are miked up :)

I know it is VERY subjective, but I just couldn't get it how the sound of Marshall and Fender is bad :p

If I knew anything about the chain I would tell you, but I have no idea :)

  • I never knew James Gordan can play guitar

  • Gonna have to say his best version was at Crossroads 2004 (DAT SOLO), but I'm always happy to hear this song.

  • an icon

  • nice hair eric back 2the 90tis;-)

  • At this age he is still the almighty of guitar... For me he's the best guitar player in the world:) He's not the fastest one, but who cares, when you hear his heart talking through guitar:)

  • 6:13 first false tune by clapton that i have ever heard

    .

  • @MSBluessss ...you right mann...

  • @MSBluessss This is not false tune, this is perfect jamming by Slowhand

  • @MSBluessss I'm musician, with almost ten years of experience, and I can tell you that it is not exactly a false tune.

  • @MSBluessss and he didn't lose his balance. At his unplugged album from 1992 there's a small error in old love's solo too.

  • @MSBluessss CLAPTON DOESNT PLAY FALSE , you deaf man

  • @bruncen Sorry but that was a bum note. He did slide it up immediately though. The 2004 Crossroads version is much better. But he is always interesting. I`ve been playing for 40 years. I know a bum note when I hear one.

  • @MSBluessss what do you mean false tune

  • That solo is definitely up there in comparison to his other solos for this song.. man..

  • I saw this live with my dad im 16 years old, seeing all the older generation nodding there head to this was probably the funniest thing ive ever seen but i couldnt help but do this myself

  • holy shit. maybe its the weed but this song is the best fucking thing ever.

  • 'I shot the Sherriff, Live in Hyde Park 1999' is the BEST EVER live version clapton has done of this and far surpasses this in my opinion.

  • It's all going well and then the backing singers start...

  • @BBJimiMarley

At that age, he is lucky to still have hair!! ;D

  • Excellent video! What kind of camera was used to capture this?!? Amazing clarity!!

  • Something about this song clearly brings out a lot of soul in his playing. You can tell he's really feeling it. Not as tight as the Crossroads Festival one, but wonderful all the same.

  • very good quality nice sound many thanks!!!

  • I really like EC's haircut reminds me GH so much when GH was a fab...

  • He is my top man for ever

  • eric hitting a jam !

  • @BBJimiMarley pleas tell me that was a joke

  • @BBJimiMarley

YAH i was not looking at his hair i was listening to the master!

  • Absolutely amazng guitar solo on this. Clapton gets better with age

  • Clapton's gained some weight, hasn't he?

  • ZZZZzzzzzzzzzz........

  • 2:06 mysterious white floaty thing

  • the backup singers have a long way to go before they even close to Tessa and Katie...

  • That was the bes concert i have ever been too (although it was my first)

  • @MrConorHughes That's stupid

  • HD ???? are you sure ??? sounds like it was recorded inside a tin can..I hear no in depth bass or drums

  • @lubetube2009 handheld HD cams never pick up sound very well. You don't ever expect good sound from a crappy quality video, but you do expect good sound quality from a 1080p video. Unfortunately, especially at loud concerts, the microphones are lucky to just adjust properly and pick up the whole song lol

  • guys i bought tickets on monday night and i still havent got them from the post and its thursday, when should i expect them?

  • I hope he plays my favs (cocaine, layla, wonderful tonight, tears in heaven etc)

  • @LesPaulRockerProduct he doesnt do any of the songs for his son anymore *tear* cocaine and crossroads have been his finale's and wonderful tonight usually gets followed by layla ^.^

  • the first minute is wonderfull.

  • Too bad you had such lousy seats.

  • hilarious haircut but what an awesome performance!

  • dint bob marley sing this wtf plzz reply

  • @CG1J yes bob marley did this song

if i'm not mistaken marley did the original recording

  • @CG1J Yes, Bob Marley is the writter and the originial recorder of the song, Eric covers it Always.

  • the backup singers have weird voices

  • @MatthewThompson14 Nop, this is Bob Marley's original version. Backup vocals are different in Clapton's cover.

  • great vocalists too

  • 5 people are fucking RETARDED !

  • cant believe ive been there and i fell asleep! but at least i saw Layla and the end of the show :\

it was annoying that he repeated the line of the blues 0:40 in each song!

  • 3:25 Is awesome, the way he say,"Sheriff John Brown!" Is stuck in my head.

  • eric's short hair take him 10 years!

  • yea u might be right, best version gbless

  • sencillamente brillante.

  • He got old, but is as good as years ago.

  • Great version!

Gotta say, I like the look of those backing singers...; )

  • Well what can you say about the man who has done every trick in the book. Basically he is the best because of the time span he has held a captive audiance. still 50 years or so on and still people are paying good money to see him play live including me ( £65 at Glasgow next year in May) and hope he will be as good as before !!

  • @gazzaboy2531977 Ya, Im going to see him in dublin in may 2011

  • which camera you used to film?

  • @raminim for sure HD, AWESOME VIDEO !!!

  • which camera you used to film?

  • Inspired.

  • @ShadesOfRapture he has tons of presence, just gets on with what he does best..no messing.. my favourite type of entertainer

  • bob marely is better leave a classic where its at never mess with a classic.....twos word:horibbly wrong, but hey atleast the back up singer sound good

  • @moniquebabby are you fucking kidding me? the backing singers are horrible, anoying at times, no taste at all. I have watched many Eric Clapton "i shot the sheriff" vids and each one is slightly diffrent and its good that it changes. This is a better version of the "classic" as you put it

  • @moniquebabby of course thats why this song was claptons number 1 in the us

both versions are good. I personally don't like bob marleys high pitch background voice.

this song is more for rock fans and bob marleys is more for reggae fans both are on my ipod so i don't care.

  • Eric is also a great guy who has help many drugs addicts with his center. He's got a great heart. May Lord Jesus bless him!

  • what amount of hair a 68 year old has! even young wayne rooney is balding...clapton is legend

  • Eric Clapton what an innovator. He's Still rockin just as hard today. He was made for this.

  • I was there that night!!!!!

Valentines day at the O2 in London, probably the best night of my life... Shivers for two and a half hours straight...

  • god he grow old.........shame......

  • he is very slow player but in same time has cleanest sound.

  • praying god to see him in some years when I get the work and money to buy a ticket

  • Still the best Guitar Player in the World. I love his solos

  • I didn't know he changed his haircut again lol

  • those backup singers got soul..........killed it.....amazing

  • The vibrato he releases at 5:14 is impecable - it sounds like a samurai sword.

  • looks aren't everything luckily. Clapton may look older but he's a fast and skilled as ever

  • Wow. He is definitely aging.

    Except his hands.

Christ, I'm 24 and his hands look younger than mine.

  • cant wait 2 see him tommorow

  • When did he go back to the big glasses? It looks awesome xD I missed those xD

  • cant wait to see him in 4 days!!!!!!!!!!! in detriot!

  • Skinner: When E gets into his groove, he's untouchable - much like when Carlos gets into HIS groove or JB into his or Knopfler into his or Gilmour... Too bad Hendrix and SRV aren't around any more to jam. For that matter, Chet Atkin was amazing in his finger-picking! Untouchable at times. You really need to read ALL the words, Skinner, before you make a lame comment.

  • damn i was there but he didnt play layla and his haircut aint the best one like older times but great show and beck is awesome

  • is tal wilkenfeld still touring with jeff? :) I just wanna know do I have to bring her flowers

  • @OMERTA011 I suppose it's possible, He was touring with Jeff Beck around that time.

  • eric clpaton toworow in belgrade!

  • Has YouTube permanently screwed up HD mode for everyone else or is it just me?

Every time I try to watch a video in HD the picture becomes shaky.

  • @kzearo i have the same, but i think its the computer you should blame, i think its my computer to blame

  • I'm seeing him live today in Vienna :D

  • I love how people compares John Mayer to Eric Clapton, that shows just how ignorant and mainstream people are nowadays.

  • he hardly ever looks at the guitar. just closes his eyes and rips into it. amazing. best there is, best there ever was.

  • I'm just getting into Clapton, its gonna take some time to fully appreciate him. It was great seeing him in Tommy.

  • Great vid, great picture what Camera is that??

  • awesome!!

  • can you just imagine Clapton,Stevie Ray Vaughan, Hendrix & Beck on the same stage today ...(-:

  • Love his Long hear !

  • GOD STILL EXIST ....

  • awesome, i was there the first night, it was a brilliant gig, plus i'd never been to the 02 before so combine that with clapton, jeff beck and performances with sharon corr and joss stone.... it was epic, thanks for uploading what i missed the night after
