I have a vox vt15, its ok for what it is, but Im saving up for a Bogner Alchemist half stack.
All that being said the vox vt15 has been good for me. For a small amp it can put out some good sounds. Im just ready for some real tube tone and power. I think that the Bogner Alchemist head and 2x12 cab will be a nice upgrade for sure. $1300 plus change is awesome for a Bogner. Check em out!
i have one question i am maybe getting this amp,but i don't know what is better or roland cube 20x.I don't mind that this one has less watts thats not that important cause this amp is for my home.So i would like to hear your opinions.
@wamps2192 Yeah in my opinion this is better then the cube in terms of sound and tone. The watt's don't resemble the volume, just the power. This amp is ok over a light drummer, heavy drums drown it out but the vt30 or 50 will be fine for any gig.
@davet247 Well thanks for the tips.I am liking this amp more and more. The effects on it are not the best i think(or in any amp in that class,i compared them with my pedals)but it will be fun to use them :D
I got a epiphone les paul the other day and am pretty impressed but I couldn't get an amp at that time so I'm getting one in a few weeks. I was reccomended the Vox tube amp by my teacher and It was either the Vt+20w or VT15w. They are both the same price but the watts are different?!?!?! so how do I know which one is better help plz!!
@WilburyVision That happens because each model has it's own unique values saved to it (volume, gain, effects, eq, etc.) and when you change the volume in preset mode, you are only changing the volume for that model unless you use the master volume control. The same applies for the effects. To save them, you will need to save the sound into one of your amp's programmable channels. Hope this helps.
Is it normal for the volume to change radically between amp model settings? And does anyone find that if you are on a particular fx setting when you change amp models, the fx changes too? I'm not sure if this is typical or there's something wrong with myt amp! I have the AD15VT. I love the sounds, but it's not really good for gigging unless you just stick to one great amp sound.
Hey Well i made my own Custom sounds and got my footswitch and i gig with it fine i play mostly metallica and stuff of that sort but i also make my own songs i have 3 metallica tones 2 customs 1 steve vai 1 paul gilbert and 1 that i still havent configured it takes 8 user made sounds
@journeyquest1 Depends how big you computer speakers are then don't it? You're not listening to it live in person, just through a camera mic then through YouTube into you're computer speakers... It's a 10" in the Vox for your information.
WHAT! the price came down? dammit i got mine before that happened :( anyways it is a nice little amp i love it. the cleans are indeed quite tube-responsive. good luck with yours
I also said the same thing...I played a vibro champ for quite a while, then went to this one although I was avoiding modeling amps, but this one was way better than the vibro champ and all the others I played that day...
hey dave!...i've got a line 6 75 watt spyder 4, and a fender frontman65r. Do you think that the vox amps give you a real tube sound ? i was thinking about getting a vt 30 but i want real tube feel. i was also thinking about the fender super champ xd...what do you think is a good choice...also have you seen the little kustom defender all tube 5 watt head and cabinet? its only two hundred bucks for both!!!! anyways thanks for showing this video, i was skeptical but that vox rocks!!!
@maciverandy As far as tube sounds this is as good as it gets for a non all tube amp. I think if you are thinking of getting the 5w all tube then go for it, but this vox is great for recording and getting pro sounds at low cost. To me all tube amps with pedals win out over any solid state or modeling amps.
Hey... I've been playing for a while now, and am starting to play with somw friends in a band. Is this amp loud enough to get over the drums. I'm not planning on playing any gigs with it, just having some jam sessions. What do you think? Thanks.
@SuperQuin2010 depends on how loud your drummer is... check out my "you really got me" video where I play it live from a club and it's fine but the drums were small. I took the same amp to a band rehearsal where everyone was rocking out hard with a massive kit and 100w amps and it just couldn't get loud enough. The 30watt verson should be more then adequate though.
@Cajanek026 If you want a classic Fender sound on a budget, check out the "Vibro Champ XD." It is $200 new, has one preamp tube, one poweramp tube, and the settings based on Fender amps sound amazing, as does the spring reverb. Much less to play with than this Vox, but it is more towards being fully "tube," and if you are not going to play every genre of music, then check out the Fender. Hope you find something you like!
I'm debating on buying this amp. I want to buy an amp that is a Vox and can get a close as you can Beatles tone. (I don't want to spend $900 on a Ac30. Lol)
Do you think I could get a could George Harrison sound out of this?
@TelecasterFreak93 I Got One Last Nite One Of The Amp Settingz Is The Ac30 , I Was Really Suprised When I Heard The Noise Of It For A Fiftheen Watt Aswell Because Its Too Loud To Put Up Full
@Vguitar777 Depends how loud your drummer is? I did my last gig with it and it was fine in 15watt mode at about 3 quarters full volume (see my Live in Scunthorpe videos) but in my new band with a massively loud metal drummer it couldn't keep up at all but I'd imagine the 30watt would be fine for any situation.
@JeffreyCentino97 if ya want to see it performing live then check out my "you really got me" and "She Runs Hot" vid's, next to a modest drum set it covers really well!
@guitardude996 Dimarzio clip lock strap, my local guitar store sells them but you can also order them from lots of dealers and the Dimarzio website I think.
I just bought this couple of days back...It has such a good clean channel...I use my POD x3 for effects as of now...Will try to club the effects and get a good sound hopefully....N4? trying to figure out the effects....
EricStJohn...I agree w/ you I'm modding mine for a 2x10 or 2x8 cab...It is a 4ohm amp...so It will be tuff to find 'em, but i think it will def drive a 1x12 or a 2x10/8 cab...def not 2/4x12.....Love this amp awesome compresed distortion tones effects are excellent as well
I bought this amp last week and it rocks. 12ax7 preamp valve. I looked at the Peavey Viper and the Line 6 spyder. The Vox was better in my op. It also has an attenuator on it. The rest do not nor do they have the 12ax7. It has nice tones for most metal as I play everything from Savatage to Blind Guardian style riffs as well as Slipknot. It also does Maiden justice. Best $135 I ever spent (Musicians Friend)
no es la guitarra adecuada para este ampli, ya que la pastilla que lleva en el puente es muy chillona, aunque casi todas las washburn suenan un poco chillonas, porque yo tengo este amplificador y no suena tan chillon, saludos a todos......
This amp sounds SO MUCH BETTER than this video representation, which is a better vehicle for showcasing you EXCELLENT guitar playing, mate. And for all he dim yanks, the 'power sponge' is the built-in attenuator which allows you to enjoy the FABULOUS TONE of this amp and save your marriage all at the same time! I'm gonna mod mine to support a 1X12 extension cab. For playing while the wife's shopping, of course!

I'm looking for an amp thats good for oasis' style of music. Would this be good for the type of music thats not too heavy, but not very distorted either?
I'm looking for an electring guitar too, and i've played acoustic for a while, but i've heard that the epiphone les paul special 2 is a great guitar for less than 300$.
I just got it today, It's great for most music styles, allthoug I've yet to manage a proper clean tone for some reason, then again, I havent ''really'' tried.. hehehehe
I like your video veru much - have already seen it a couple of times. Now I'm wondering how good this amp is for playing metal. I'm looking for a paractice amp, just to play at home - things like old Metallica etc. Could you please comment on the high gain models, how they sound, the saturation etc??? Thanks in advance.
You can do every type of metal with this amp, there is a US modern (which is a 5150) a UK modern (marshal JVM), Metal bull, and also some JCM 800 & 900 settings. I've recently recorded some metal tracks for my band Decibel Messiah using this amp, take a look out in the next few weeks for 'Them Bones' Alice In Chains cover & Metallica's Shortest Straw. For now you can check out my warheads video and my personal best amp settings vid.
i play ledzep ,eric clapton ect. it has a mode called ac30 and its sweet i would advise any 1 to buy this i love it i have the 15 watt and it could wake my street up if i wanted it to but i play with earphones and the sound quility is spot on i dont use effects much i like a clean sound but the efects are cool it can play all ranges of music . i got mine for 150 last year they are down to 100
does it have any card or whatsoever to prove it is genuine?because i saw a 2nd hand one,but it has black knobs instead of creme knobs,so im kinda worried itsnot genuine, lol
start playing small ''gigs'' at school and church + band practise. is 15 watt good or should i get the 30. if you got any other good vox amp please recommend it. Peder
I have this amp and i use it with my thinline 1972 telecaster mim reissue with widerange humbuckers. I LOVE the clean + crunch tones but i just cant dial in a high gain tone of any sorts.
Try using the UK 90's or UK modern amp setting with Gain at Max, Mid on 2 or 3, bass on 9, treble on 10. Set the Power level on quite low and the Master vol on max. This should give you a monster metal tone and if it doesn't then there's either something wrong with your amp or your guitar. High gain pickups do help also.
I'm so stuck... Vox VT15, or a Vox AD30Vt
I can get the vt15 for $130 and the ad30vt for $150.

Whats the riff u play with the flanger?
PS i got the same amp
i really like it !!
Just a question when i'm playing the tap button is blinking the whole time and I dont know why?^^
IcEcReAmSaLe 1 year ago
@IcEcReAmSaLe ain't talkin' bout love by Van Halen.
The blinking is the rate of the effect that is applied.

@EricStJohn My wife plays her bass louder than I play my guitar XD

I'm looking for an amp thats good for oasis' style of music. Would this be good for the type of music thats not too heavy, but not very distorted either?
OasisU214 1 year ago
I'm just a beginner, I'm looking for a amp that can handle sort of all genres from Heavy Metal to classic Blues. Is this what I should aim for?
Btw; anybody know a good cheap guitar for a beginner? with good sound. :)

I'm looking for an electring guitar too, and i've played acoustic for a while, but i've heard that the epiphone les paul special 2 is a great guitar for less than 300$.

Great review. Your playing is great, and you do a good job of showing what the amp can do.
I have to ask though, wuth it being a modelling amp, does it colour the guitars natural sound too much?
Robbiedbee 1 year ago

For now you can check out my warheads video and my personal best amp settings vid.

i've got this amp and was just wondering if you're able to bypass the amp modelling as well as the effects and just play through the valve

Plus these amps have closed backs.. you get the bass response. Overall, these amps are the cats ass. Good stuff!!!

can you do one with clean tones
swiv2d 2 years ago
start playing small ''gigs'' at school and church + band practise. is 15 watt good or should i get the 30. if you got any other good vox amp please recommend it. Peder
peder0204 2 years ago
30 watt is better for any small gigs so I'd go with that, 15 is great for recording as a second convenient amp.

I have this amp and i use it with my thinline 1972 telecaster mim reissue with widerange humbuckers. I LOVE the clean + crunch tones but i just cant dial in a high gain tone of any sorts.
Could u give me some tips?
Change pickups? Get a pedal?
mhd9890 2 years ago
Try using the UK 90's or UK modern amp setting with Gain at Max, Mid on 2 or 3, bass on 9, treble on 10. Set the Power level on quite low and the Master vol on max. This should give you a monster metal tone and if it doesn't then there's either something wrong with your amp or your guitar. High gain pickups do help also.

The best reason... Sound quality.
