  • OK, for tonymontana's sanity I'm deleting comments relating to him asking which stage it was, as he's very mithered by people messaging him. We'll say no more about it...

  • @MrsWoman OTHER...he he

  • @tonymontana1974 That is the Other Stage. I was there a few rows from the front. One of my best ever Glastonbury memories.

  • Utter gash like Justin Bieber can only dream of writing songs like this - and it's way down the list of my favourite Elbow songs.

  • perfect song for a live festival like Glastonbury. Magic!!

  • you know when you get that tingle up your spine when you're mesmerised by something... I had that through the whole song :)

  • Guy Garvey, you absolute legend! Genius.

  • Goose bumps 30 seconds in already. Fierce!

  • Ten people who viewed this video are muppets!!!

  • I think this version is much better than the one with the BBC concert orchestra...and I liked that one hell of a lot

  • Noticed people commenting on how many people like or dislike a post and at time of writing the likes are 647 and the dislikes 10 and that equates to 1.5 people per 100 not liking something, a quite remarkable popularity rating god himself would not score quite so highly.

  • i must have 2000 of these views

  • is glastonbury good i've got tickets for 2011 but i've never been before??

  • I was there. First time I'd seen Elbow. It was a truly memorable experience, lovely balmy Glastonbury evening with tens of thousands of people singing along. Magical.

  • I would of done anything to be stood in that crowd to sing along to this!

  • amazing song. I simply cannot imagine a single person not liking this song.

  • @bwownbwead Apparently 10 people dislike this but I'm sure Guy Garvey doesn't mind what Justin Bieber fans think.

  • Never ever fails to give me goosebumps.....all the problems of each day fade away and I smile to myself every single I hear this song. Beautiful beautiful song, I wish I could play this on a world loud speaker....then maybe people would calm down for a while and stop all the crap that is ruining this world we live in................

  • @scorpiomatt6 Spot on.......

  • @kingofkeyboards gorillaz did a good job, only bobby womack wasn't really into it i guess

  • I was there ! still gives me goosebumps 2 years on !

  • sorry mrs woman, but it is a Microkorg, not a Mini moog

  • @1571AM No probs, 1571AM: I knew it was a Mini something that ended in 'og' : ) Oh dear, signs of creeping senility already?!

  • sorry sunshine, but it is a Microkorg, not a moog !

  • A good string section enhances a good song every time. This is magic!

  • One of the most sensational things i've ever seen or heard, i only with i could have been there

  • The line up is SO good this year. Especially some of the gems on the smaller stages.

  • this is a fucking good song !!

  • love this - totally uplifting. Hoping that BBC/ITVmay find room for it as an anthem during the world cup as england make the final!!!!!! Here's hoping

  • @eil77 its what people from the north of england say for one day like this a year would make me happy! and this what this song does!

  • Go us northeners woot!

  • i was there!!! had never heard of elbow before but fell in love on the spot. i remember one guy at the front just kept shouting "guy garvey! i love you!"

  • This is great, But New Youtube sucks btw!!!

  • i don't know about you guys but the cello player is absolutely soooo hotttt

  • I absolutely love this fantastic song!!

  • Alcoholic's Anthem.....1st Class.....

  • Could someone please explain to me the meaning of the chorus lyrics? I like this song but I never get the "one day like this a year would see me right" part.

  • I guess 'see me right' is quite Northern in what Guy means here. The jist in this context is 'one day like this' would do him good, making him content/happy and sorted out for a long while.

  • Thanks, That makesence.

  • @MrsWoman I'd say it even less (more?) profound than that - it's the simple fact that a single day with the perfecion of being around the person he loves the most would give him the ability to bear whatever the year to come migh bring... look at the oficial video and imagine him living for the next time he sees his beloved... a distinctly not bad song.

  • One song like this a year, would see me right!! Fucking amazing band, theres not many bands around that can bring a lump to the throat and a tear to the eye like Elbow!! Love them to death, just brilliant!!

  • @MrsWoman its not a northern thing. anyone in england would know what that means.

the person who asked is israeli.

  • @randwan Well yeah; I know the phrase is used nationally, but there's a Northern spin on the saying that adds an extra layer of context. Compare that with the slightly disingenuous sound of a Sarf End market trader saying it: "Yeah, mate, arl see ya right..." Bit different! : )

  • @randwan ...asshole!! Yer soft southern shandy drinking puff!! Ill see thee right one day ya daft sod!! Is thee daft int brain?? I agree wit MrsWoman.

  • @eil77 sorry.. am on the fella's log in.. "one day like this would see me right" means a day just like this would be wonderful and would be a memory forever.. er.. kinda.. but i'm not wording it right cos it would be better.. think the perfect day to remember forever

  • @eil77 'See me right' - Light your way to good and right.

  • @eil77

"See me right" is a slang term from the north of England. In this case, it means "make me happy". The exact meaning of the chorus is open to interpretation but, in my opinion, it refers to waking up with a positive attitude and "throwing" the curtains open; with a view to taking on the day with the same positive attitude.

  • in other words it means he have a good year insted of a bad one

  • @eil77

I suspect it's as metaphorical as real but if you're from the north west your day to day life tends to involve a lot of rain, grey sky, rough round the edges towns & cities & general miserableness. (We sometimes think) we don't have much call to threw those curtains wide, so when we do, it's just perfect. On day a year is all we ask ie. would be smashing.

  • @andye180 SPOT ON FROM MANCHESTER LOL

  • Bloody Brilliant!! Pure Gold!!

  • Genius!!

  • I was there. An amazing experience.

  • Blows me away every time! :-)

  • Sublime.

  • pure joy!

  • watch the bald guy with shades just after Jeff, has he suddenly realised he's s'posed to be somewhere else??? 4.32 - 4.41 wtf lol???

  • hes probably just having a mad drug rush i reckon

  • I did think about marrying the cello player but I thought that maybe her ideal date wasn't sharing a 12 pack of Carling with a fat ugly beer swigging oaf while watching Arsenal on Sky Sports. Ho hum, more fish in the sea..

  • She prefers Man united beer swillers!

  • beautiful song. and jeff is hardcore headbangin ;D

  • i love this song it makes me feel like life can be great sometimes even if youve had a shit day it gives hope and love

  • The cello player is well fit!

  • It's a Korg MicroSynth, lovely little piece of kit, gets some awesome sounds :)

  • just makes the hairs on the back of your kneck stand up everytime you hear this song

  • just noticed pete is playing some kind of keyboard which begs the question who playing bass? or is it coming from the orchestra?

  • i reckon elbow are one of those bands that are better live than they are in the recording studios.

  • or anyone who saw till live on the day..envy washes over me. just to experiance that atmosphere must have been special. long live the sound that is elbow

  • brilliant hook line
