Tapping the girl out is actually quite the achievement, no sarcasm intended. Truth is that girls are more native to grappling than boys and are only now getting the chance to prove it. As more girls get involved the more they will dominate submission wrestling. When the boys do get something on them the squirm out, their longer limber legs are real assets.
Trust me i needed the guidance, i was very new to the sport and scared out of my mind. He was also taking the video and sounds much louder to all of you than he did to me. i barely heard him.
First I want to say congratulations on your win. To educate, I will say that "kimura" and "americana" as we BJJers call them are both "double-wrist locks" or "keylocks". They involve using a figure-4 grip with the arms. "Double-wrist lock" is usually common terminology for catch-wrestlers. To the person that said fighting is unnatural, that is ridiculous. Fighting is as natural as eating, breathing, and mating. Last, why would you say something as ignorant as "the Gracies don't know anything"?
In response to being called 'ignorant': I will put forth this disclaimer; The Gracie comment is my idea of exaggerated sarcasm. But I shouldn't expect a stranger to understand my humor or my knowledge of fighting. Therefore I will, for my own reputation, not to dignify your insult, explain that comment further. The Gracies are who they are for a reason and I am not discrediting them but they did not invent the hold, they coined a term, thats all.
I'm not calling you ignorant, I said that statement is ignorant. But you were being humorous, and it's not always easy to pick up on over the internet. Fair enough.
PS: Try not to take things so seriously. I wasn't "insulting" you. If anything, I'm on your side. You are a fellow grappler and that comes with a level of respect from other grapplers. Your character determines how much more you will be respected by the community. Get rid of the chip on your shoulder.
I agree we should respect others fighters and various styles, that's why I don't insult the Gracies but just because they improve and market something doesn't mean they should get credit for 'invention'. Think of it a little like plagarism. However, being a woman in a combat sport, i am continualy confronted with animosity and condecending attitudes of masculine superiority so you will have to excuse the chip. And the key lock is a compression hold nothing like a wrist lock.
Just because Americans believe the Gracie's are the only "authority" on what holds are named doesn't mean that they are correct. Helio Gracie coined that term after be beaten by a man named Kimura with that hold. Their family marketed it to the public. I am not a student of BJJ and therefore i do not call it a kimura. Do you know of a fighter named Sakuraba? Also, look back to the origins of pro-wrestling and you will realize that the Gracie's don't know anything.
I wasn't trying to upset you, sweetie....it's just that NOBODY, I've ever trained with has ever called it that. And while I do train under a Gracie BB, I also train judo as well, so I'm VERY familiar with japanese terminology for the grappling arts as well. Ude-garami anyone? I've also heard it called a chicken-wing as well.
No, i don't feel that this sport is any more aggressive than other sports look at football, and don't get me wrong, i love it, but they go around smashing people into the ground. Soccer, lacrosse they all have violent elements to them. Grappling takes skill and techinique but i don't expect most people to share my opinion because they don't know much about MMA in general but it happens to fascinate me, so in other words, who cares? its not for everybody.
what fascinates me is:why are so many people today fascinated by fighting arts?why fighting?doesnt it seem nonproductive or unnatural?what gives you satisfaction from it?Are some MA a magnet for sociopaths?
Calling martial artists sociopaths is ridiculous. All humans have aggression and this is a healthy outlet for it. What's the difference in channeling it into a sport productively versus street brawling? And about the 'fighting is unnatural' comment, this again goes back to human nature and the survival instinct. Even if the knowledge of fighting is limited, the body wants to protect itself. Not everyone has a competitive nature or the build for this, but where there is a will, there is a way.
I feel it is necessary to respond to your stupidity. My myspace is michshelllee, go have a look and eat your words. You could never get a girl like me. And i would recommend you go have your eyes checked because the girl i tapped out here was the weight lifting champ of her high school and definitely more of a man than you, but don't be too jealous.
