America spoke Cantonese... even budding taiwanese entertainers like Takeshi Kaneshiro, Nicky Wu Kay Loeng, Jimmy Lin Chi Wing, Jacqueline Wu See Leen, and Shi Qi for example had to learn Cantonese to try to enter into the HK film market where the opportunities to work with great directors are better and more $.
