Why did Wannstadt wait till the final game to get his troops fired up? I'll never understand why. His recruiting is pretty good, but his play calling is AWFUL!! He needs to step aside.

I don't understand why it took him so long either. They beat Cincinnati early that season when they were #23, and they showed other signs of them being a winning team, but he never brought the best out of them. His recruiting is always top notch, but he doesn't call the plays. Pitt's offensive coordinator, Matt Cavanaugh, calls the plays on offense, and I'm so tired of him anymore. As for the defense, I'm not sure if he calls the plays or not, but it's a great defensive team.

Their second football "championship" was before the armistice was signed. Their third "champion ship" was before the great depression. Their 4th "championship" was 3 years before Hitler invaded Poland. Their last championship, the only one that anyone is even still alive from, was just after Nixon left office, 34 years ago. It is sad to think that this was PITTS bowl game and that WVU went on to win the Fiesta Bowl and finish #6 BCS...teams lose to underdogs every year, but the proof of thier character and integrety is in the fact that they overcame adversity and pulled together as a team and KILLED OKLAHOMA.. while Pitt went home and licked thier nuts during the bowl season !!!

I never said that he "threw" the game....his suckassed play calling is why they lost the game. Just take a look at the clips of the Fiesta Bowl and see the differences as far as pass plays and in formations. N. Devine and Schmitts TDs came from a Pro I formation, something that Fraud NEVER used !

I've had season tickets for Pitt football for years, but college football teams in big cities (especially ones with NFL teams) do not draw big crowds. This includes Miami (FL) even when they were in the running for the national championship. College football is only a big draw in the middle of nowhere (i.e. WVU, Penn State etc.) There are some exceptions of course, USC comes to mind and of course the mindless drunks that follow Notre Dame even though they haven't been good in about 15 years.
