It's probally just for newbies to practise which is great cause it saves a lot annoying wipes because of inexperienced players. Of course the experianced raiders who want to raid and not mess about won't use it but I still find it a useful feature for training

generally i think the raid finder is a good concept to help the people out who don't necesarily have the time to put into a guild but the dynamics of a raid are just a little much for a bunch of strangers especially considering they won't have vent most of the time and probably half of the raid won't know the fights and need instruction.
