The reason it is still illegal is due to the CIA getting much of their money from illegal drug sales. This way they can have covert ops without having a money trail to prove it. The DEA and local law enforcement get to keep a percentage of what they steal from users when they get busted, so you have that aspect of it, too. It is all about the money, none of them give a rat's ass if the public is supposedly harming themslves by using it.

Obama's Department of "Justice" doesn't even agree with medical marijuana. They violate state law and forcefully shut down dispensaries.

Federal law is only superior to state law when the law is pursuant to an authority enumerated in the Constitution. The federal government does not have the authority to prohibit marijuana.

@bader123bader yes I would gladly agree to pay taxes if it makes it safer and legally available. After all imagine all the tax payers money they would save on policeing and court costs. Not to mention the removal of the drug dealers. After all it is so easy and cheap to grow putting tax on would still keep it cheaper than illegal street dealing. So take that into account. They can free up the prisons for the people who really deserve to be there.
