@n16pr I know your post was a while back, but I just thought I'd say...in an interview with Georgia van Cuylenburg (Vanille's VA), I do believe I recall her saying they wanted her to make noises like that while recording Vanille's voice. She even did some examples during the interview. So, yes...in a way, I guess it was scripted.

I recall this part of the game being in an early demo for gameplay. This scene is altered a tad because originally when Vanille went on ahead, she went farther than everyone else and then she comes back running from being chased by a random creature and then a battle takes place. Also in the demo, you can play as snow for some reason lol.
