I have a demon for the first level, and I have always wanted this. Why don't they re-release this on a collection disc? I mean, PS1 Classics! Come on! Genisis does it, why not PS!
I ate this game up when I was a kid, I finished it completely secret ships and all. I still have it to this day case and manual, this is truly an over looked gem. The music, style, controls, gameplay fantastic I don't remember any lag when the game starts getting brutal around stage four

@JakubTilecky Not with Star Fox on SNES. :p The game can be emulated at 60fps instead of the original 15. It's so much smoother and it's much easier to control and much more enjoyable.

Salander boss music in einhander is actually a remix of thunder force V 1st stage boss song when fight it underwater. i never notice that until now. Einhander actually pay respects to Thunder Force, thats whats up.
@214cardenas the technique of the playstation 1 is now nearly 20 years old. So the graphics of the old games were good for its time. Nowadays they look and they are pixelated of course but in those days when we came from super nintendo or sega genesis or something they were awesome.
And to think that I had this game when it first came out... and I still have it today... in my PS1... under the Wii/360 and above the Dreamcast... next to the computer...
also I unlocked all the weapons in the booklet (I love the laser blade and the Riot gun) but is there anything else I'm missing?

@Ultrox007 the flash is a railgun that falls out of the rotating thing coming out of the ceiling in level 3 if you destroy every single enemy that falls out of it. It's the most powerful weapon in the game and allows u to kill the first boss in 7 seconds = D also, there are two unlockable ships, and one of them is a red astraea which gives 9999 ammo to one of its weapons. The other is a cop car from the first level which doesn't actually hold gunpods, but has an upgradeable machine gun
Einhander, Twisted Metal 2, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Old 007 Games, Super Smash Bros, Virtua Cop, and Halo 2 A short while after the 360 came out everything went to hell. Xbox 360 and Ps3 are shit. Ps2, Sega Genesis, original Xbox, and N64 are my childhood. "Almost" nothing good came out of the 20th century.
i beat this game 4 times, i found out how to get to secret levels as well which is mainly accessed by defeating bosses in irregular ways, this is also how to unlock special guns the the lightning gun (Riot) and a freaking bad arse gattling gun (Juno)

These 2d shooters were way more fun and challenging than the big budget FPS that we get spoon fed today. I wish game producers would give us more of these on a collector edition disk for PS3 &Xbox. Something like Thunder Force i ii ii iv v &vi. I would pay the going rate of these so called top shelf FPS for a collection like that. If anyone thinks this is a good idea and would put down their hard earned cash for a collection like that in HD, give me a thumbs UP!!!

These were the good ol' days. I remember back when Square used to make such unique, fun, and just plain awesome games ever. On the other hand, Enix was always a shitty company with bottom tier games. When both companies merged, the originality and creativity died.

Oh my god. I remember this game, I rented this when I was like 8. I need to go buy a PS1 and get this game. This is one of my favorite games of all time.
The greatest shooter i have ever played with the playstation along with G- Darius, my favorite weapon was the flash cannon on the mk-III and the the JUNO on Astrea, but my favorite favorite fighter was the cab. It is crappy but with enough pickups it is a beast. Now excuse me while i go and own some good boss fights.

to get a red einhander ship, you have to get 15 s bonuses. to get the first ship you kill, you have to beat the game on hard (i think). to get the juno, you have to wait for it to pop out of the 1st level boss. to get the mosquito, you have to destroy this weird apc looking thing on level 5. to get the flash, you have to destroy the falling thing on level 3, then ALL of the things that come out of it.if you do it correctly, you will get your wanted flash rail cannon. all of that is from memory.
the 15 s bonus unlocks the stupid little police ship (cockroach) that swarms in the first level. to get the selen, the red one, u gotta finish the game on hard without using a continue, which is damn near impossible. i've been trying off and on for 8 years and still haven't done it. for the juno, u gotta make sure the 1st level boss is the (08) black version by blasting out the bottom saucer of the floating police bot.
i was skilled enough to beat it when i was 10 ;) suuuuuuuuch a good game!

My god, you don't want to know what I went through to find the name for this game. MONTHS AND MONTHS of going through the list of PS1 games on wikipedia just to find it.
It all paid out, and it really is as good as I could remember. Gotta go find me a copy now!

i love that futuristic dystopian cyberpunk setting too, really atmosperic. however im not so much a fan of side scrolling shooters....some of them are fun though

These were the good ol' days. I remember back when Square used to make such unique, fun, and just plain awesome games ever. On the other hand, Enix was always a shitty company with bottom tier games. When both companies merged, the originality and creativity died.

i played this one at my cousins when i was a kid and obviously when games were frustrating ppl got mad threw controllers or whatever. but man i remember even back then not getting so frustrated dieing cuz the game WAS and probaly still is that much fun. aweseom game, gotta pick this up on ebay soon damn it

The greatest shooter i have ever played with the playstation along with G- Darius, my favorite weapon was the flash cannon on the mk-III and the the JUNO on Astrea, but my favorite favorite fighter was the cab. It is crappy but with enough pickups it is a beast. Now excuse me while i go and own some good boss fights.

I'm pretty sure Einhander stands for more like one-handed, not one-hander, it's not related to a sword, but to the shape of the fighter.

to get a red einhander ship, you have to get 15 s bonuses. to get the first ship you kill, you have to beat the game on hard (i think). to get the juno, you have to wait for it to pop out of the 1st level boss. to get the mosquito, you have to destroy this weird apc looking thing on level 5. to get the flash, you have to destroy the falling thing on level 3, then ALL of the things that come out of it.if you do it correctly, you will get your wanted flash rail cannon. all of that is from memory.

the 15 s bonus unlocks the stupid little police ship (cockroach) that swarms in the first level. to get the selen, the red one, u gotta finish the game on hard without using a continue, which is damn near impossible. i've been trying off and on for 8 years and still haven't done it. for the juno, u gotta make sure the 1st level boss is the (08) black version by blasting out the bottom saucer of the floating police bot.
the (09) green version doesn't have the juno
