  • Tak zwana dupa...

  • Breaking point - Falling Down

  • 1:12 is pure brutal.

  • Whats the Song Name ?

  • Whats the Song Name ?

  • Here you can see it's not too easy driving such a fast cat. You need a very good condition and balance.

  • @Segelfilmer It's not a cat.

  • @Folkedahl You're right, I don't know what I did see when I wrote my comment? It's really neither a cat nor a dog ... ;-)

  • It looks really cool @ 1:46 and very well saved. you can see the crew strugle but still stay on the wing well :)

  • grande deriva , manca portanza a prua , ecco perche' sovente scuffia di poppa

  • ballast on a dinghy ? hmmm

  • not enough ballast in the keel?

  • 0:05 back flip haha!! :D

  • @wbeeck

sink in one of these is very very diffilcult, crashing is simple

  • There are boats, which are just not constructed to stay afloat. This type seems to be one of them. Simply stay away from such bad "innovations"... wbeeck

  • ivanbulaja, thank YOU for making this vid !!! I love it, and I watch it over and over again !!! :D Tahnk YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • facepalm.jpg

  • 1:15 is beautiful

  • 1.17 best pitchpole evaar

  • Skiffs are out of this planet! Yeeeeeeah! :)

  • 0:33 fail crew...

  • i sail 420s this looks like fun

  • dont do that

  • a lot of pitch poling :/

    great captures though 10/10

  • epic!

  • 1:03 Pitchpull!

  • that must be so much fun just crashing like at lease 20 mph and just crahing in to the water...awesome

  • 1:15 Classic :D

  • my friend who never sailed before always asks me how i have these big bruises and cuts from sailing so i sent him this vid

  • music?

  • @gimpoo95 Yes!

  • @Argbeil Breaking point - Falling Down

  • @gimpoo95 Breaking point - Falling Down

  • Hells Bells!

  • totally awsome , foot straps or no foot straps when the bow stops and the stern overtakes it your gettin wet ....

  • That's one way to douse the spinnaker.

  • HAhaha PWNED 1:42 lol

  • retards how bout u use the dam footstrap

  • im guessing this boat isnt made for these conditions? the bow keeps digging into the water and flipping forward.

  • @diego11032000 its more fun on the limit :-P

more things go wrong but wth!

  • One of the best boats ever! hahaha

  • that was so funny. But don't you think sometimes they may get hurt.

  • @Morecool66 yer thats wat makes it so funny

  • I think I'll stick to my Mirror dinghy, whimper

  • very exciting video

    wish I was younger

    much much younger

    I'd av a go

  • WHO Is the Band?

    cw

  • @ 2:24 I loled so hard :D

    "ABANDON SHIP!!"

  • I've only just started learning to sail. I haven't capsized yet but I was out there with my friend (who's quite experienced) on a real windy day and we almost went over. My worst fear would be having the mainsail fall on top of me but I've got my exit plan worked out now in case that happened! It's all good fun.

  • great if your on a lake

  • such an epic video

  • No bouyancy in the bow...Totally not suited to open water, very difficult to keep the right way up even in moderate conditions...if you want to go fast buy an f18/20 cat

  • @NigelLoller, err... im pretty sure you have no idea what your talking about. 49er's are built with a foam core directly under the mast step and the bow of the boat, about where the kite chute opens.

Sure F18s and F20s are good boats, but pitchpole just as hard, even harder.

Get some facts before critisizing a Class like this which is ISAF recognised, as well as being the Olympic Double handed class.

  • @bryce65 Ha Ha you wally...When I said no bouyancy in the bow I meant the actual volume of the hull in front of the mast not how much foam is in the core . Yes you can easily pitch pole a cat ...you can do it almost to order. You entirely missed my point which was If you want to go fast , easily and still stay the right way up in offshore conditions,90% of dinghy sailors would be better off with a cat.

  • I remember when this stuff was the cool thing to do.... it feels like forever ago. kinda like when the original tv show 90210 was cool!

  • wtf r u talking about

  • super

  • cool

  • Sailing is turning into skipping. Revive the big one design boats!!

  • 69ers

  • i'd say let go the mainsail, but in 49ers it must just make you crash windward then

  • 49's do everything in slow motion,

  • It is vital to get your weight back.

  • hobie cats ftw!

  • Retarded

  • nosedive not bad design

it can happen on any boat

  • 49 is probably the best commercial boat design

  • LOL!!!!!!!

  • 1.22 complete pitchpole !!!

  • Not enough weight at the back!!!

  • No... the dont really love their boats :)

  • 1:05 the poor persons boat is sinking before they even started to mess up. O_o

  • hey what actually happens at 1:38? cant figure it out :) i swear it looks like he swaps boats?

  • i think they did, or its just differnt footage of different people, but theres no blue symbol on the sail

  • he gets caught on their racks.

  • cheers. yeah i can see it now :)

  • great video

  • whats the name of the song?

  • falling down by breaking point

  • THX !!

  • but when you just say laser as a boat its a bit vague you would want to say laser 4.7, radial or standard. A nd anyway i don't know why you are talking about picos they are shit pieces of plastic that shud never be sailed EVER

  • laser is the company you tool, a laser 1 is the boat you are on a bout which is different form a laser pico... there is no such boat as a laser... its the company....fool!!!!

  • When someone refers to a "Laser" as a boat, they mean the original 14 ft. boat. That's really common, especially among those of us that have sailed them for 30+ years. The company is actually "LaserPerformance." Don't go calling people fools and tools unless you know what you are talking about.

  • you are an idiot, laserperformance is a company, laser is the original boat, jackass

  • Haha it see`s really fun out!

  • do not like sailing video with testosterone testicle music. completely trite. save your drama for the shaving mirror.

  • I agree but at least it's not that horrible Death Metal shit they play to Gitmo prisoners.

  • to sail in a laser standard or a 420. I've sailed once in a 49er and has nothing to do with sailing in a 470 as an example. I used to be the rudder guy in the 470 (as I'm not pretty tall "lol") and the manevuers of the 49er are so fast and "dangerously unstable" that nearly scares. Next thing I would like to try is a Moth, but dunno if I will be able. As a Briefing, boats are made about: skill, body constitution and sport abilities, in my own understanding of sailing.

  • a monohull hydrofoil is even less balanced than a 49er, and, you need the perfect amount of wind to hold yourself up and be flat on the water otherwise you start slipping out and dropping back into the water because the hydrofoil is in sideways...

  • OK, I won't try it XDDD LOL

  • So funny that ammount of comms about the pico and the laser, assuming it as standard race class. First Laser is a brand that ha a whole bunch of models tha vary from the pico in order to server nearly every need. The use of a boat as a begginer's one (like the pico) doesn't make it only for kids. I teach sailing in Spain and we used for intermediate ages 12-15/16 years old. But we've used also for ladies (due to their wieght) and for old people that do not have the body skills required for...

  • der wahnsinn, die gehn mit vollen segln über den bug in die see

  • 1.20 was good

  • can u say pitch-pole??

    awesome stuff

  • fail

  • not crashes, capsizes. Crashes are something all together different.

  • Looks quite unstable in high winds.

  • hey i have a 49er..and yea u wipe out like crazy

  • That´s not a crash you dumb-ass!!!

  • im guessing these things crash a lot

  • 49ers are TOO HARD to control in very strong wind. Optis and 420s are better for in-harbor stiff wind conditions

  • you can't really compare optis to 49ers, or 420's for that matter. The three of them are all completely different. 49ers are skiffs, so they can plane amazingly well and have a low friction against the water, letting them go much faster. but as such, they also heel much more.

  • Comment removed

  • lasers and picos are not skiffs pico is a begginer boat not a laser

  • actually a pico is very similar to a laser, and made as a beginner to advanced class boat, also like a laser, and is manufactured by the same company, as the beginner boat before a laser, laser radial, or laser 4.7

  • technically the Pico is a designated beginner's boat, because of its small sails and lack of necessary 2-handed features (spinaker, trapeze, etc.). The Laser can be intermediate-advanced, but you need to be pretty heavy to sail the full-sized sail in moderate or higher winds.

And neither of those are skiffs, but they do have very efficient planing hulls on both Picos and Lasers, which is what might have confused you.

  • technically the pico is made for kids, not beginners (not to say it doesnt serve as a good beginner boat, and yes they may not have the trapeze and assymetrical spinnaker, but a skiff is a very loose term to describe a high performance sailing dingy, and it also refers to small silly rowboats, but thats beside the point, and you cannot argue that a laser is not a high performance sailing dingy, and, in the sense of easyness to control 49ers are very compareble to optis and 420's

  • if that is true, then technically so is a laser, or a byte, which you cannot call a beginner boat

  • lasers are a preformance boat a pico is not its a begginer boat 49ers are made by the company that makes lasers dose that make the lasers and a pico is made out of plastic and a laser is made out of fiberglass very thin to the bottom feels like and eggshell

  • that makes the lasers what??? and you haven't even compromised what i said, you just deflected, and, i never said a pico was a high performance boat, and, picos are not plastic they're rotomouled, which is different, and so what if the lasers are fiberglass, so are 49ers, 29ers, 420s, and i14s, so i am assuming you know i am right see as you have failed to contradict my earlier comment

  • about optis?? and u said a pico was like a laser its not the laser is on a completly different scale

  • Pico's are rotomoulded plastic which means that they are made from plastic (ARE made from plastic) which is poured, molten, in to a spinning mould.

  • 49ers are not made bu laser- they are mostly ovingtons.

  • picos are lasers

  • no, picos are manufactured by "laser performance", but thy are not the same boat

  • and in the sense of easieness to control in strong winds you can compare any two boats, it doesnt matter what type they are, it could be a i14 and a TP52, the easiness to control is usually dependant on the type of boat, so it makes it even easier to compare

  • Blimey, that was epic. It looks kind of scary from my point of view, but then I have only time I have capsized out on a trapeze wire is on a topaz tres :S

    That nose dive was amazing!

  • im amazed by how many negatives there are here, go sail one your self, and you will soon find out what a machine they are! one of the best boats ever made, and if they didnt know anything about sailing, they wouldn't have been upright for long enough to get a shot of it!

  • crashes suggests boast colliding, hear they are just capsizing

    you're a doofus

  • aw damn i sail optimist atm...sailing 420 next year...

  • never let a cats nose touch the water

  • 0:42 skipper catappult!!!

id love to sail a 49er, even if i had to launch off like that!!

  • if sailing had been invented in the 70s it would be considered an extreme sport

  • these are crashes???

  • what are you guys talking about the 49er's awesome

  • RS are much better

  • whoever designed that boat fail horribly.

  • You obviously don't know much about sailing

  • noice

  • Who says boats don't have brakes?

  • I love it when they pitchpole! ASS OVER TEA KETTLE!!!!!

  • this is not a crash! this is a capsize!

  • that arent crashs -.-

this is standard....but catam. stunts are more impressive

    but nice vid!

  • They're making stoppies xd

  • lol

  • by now that never happened to me :D :D

    hope it won't ;D

  • hey whats that song it was shown at the bottom two weeks ago?

  • jump the other way lol awsome!

    go them!

  • you could put the song on hay big spender

  • so funny lol

  • WTF is with putting ",metal" music to sailing video? You guys do way too many drugs.

  • there was different music before but youtube took it off, it was no longer available. I just didn't have enough will to search for another one. If you have a better suggestion from youtube audioswap let me know.

  • dont know what type of boat you sail, but sailing is a lot different these days, faster, harder and it does includebrain.

but sailing is now considered an 'extreme' sport.

its now even featured in the X games.

i think the music fits perfectly.

  • are you gonna cry

  • This is metal?

I think it works fine. Who cares, it's not your video.

  • It ain't canvas.

  • I'm Canadian. No, I don't do much sailing. My car is not modified. It's all really irellevant.

I really don't get what your trying to argue but either way you make a bad argument. Not sure why your so bothered by my comment...you baby.

  • 1:09, it was gone haha

  • Great videos! What a hoot!

  • hehehe

  • haha at the 08 49er worlds in sorento, i went out on 1 n im 50 kilos in 18 knots!!

  • I think the funniest moment was 0.12, LOL

  • Never had a sail on a 49er they arrived a good many years after my dinghy sailing days had finished. They seem a bit prone to pitch polling but great fun

  • It looks like catsailordude has his head up where the sun don't shine. It's a pity one can't appreciate there is another opinion other their own! O well it takes all kinds..obviously he hasn't been there or done that. Losts of hot air..(makes his own wind)

  • it's called capsizing, not crashing

  • yeah 1:21 is good, you can tell these boats are meant to reach on hot angles downwind because when they try fly the spinniker dead down wind to windward they pitchpole every time haha

  • Best one 1:21

  • As entertainment, The 49er scores high on comedy--just watch the 2008 Olympic Medal race, it's even funnier than this. As a sailboat design, the 49er is also a joke.

  • then you must live somewhere with nice weather and warm water lol, its not so refreshing in santa cruz

  • haha lol i love capsising, it is refreshing!

  • im bronze 4 for i pitchpolled my lazer 1 on purpose=P

  • u in canada?... anyway get ur rya its international.. bronze4 wont help u anyware niether will silver6 or gold7

  • LOL!!! Looks like they should wear full pads!

  • Sigh ... apparently shin pads are essential, I hate to say it, 'cause it looks like such a fun boat, but the effective sailing conditions-window is just too narrow.

  • I sailed 29er once...way different then laser or 420's! I really would like to try 49er too! crazy stuff!

  • I would love to do that...Looks epic

  • hahaha lol half the time som1 fell out and the boat nose dived coz of the uneven weight lolz

check out my 'skiff crash' vid
