With his speed and mobility he should be a great slot WR and retuner for seattle. With With Branch and Butler on the inside slot, Burleson and houshmandzadeh on the out side should make great targets for Hasselbeck. There going to be fearce compitition in training camp.
This guy is going to be a steal for us. I see him doing great things for us in the coming years. Its kinda scary to give Matt Hasselbeck a WR group of TJ Housh, Burleson, Branch, Butler and Carlson. Teams are going to have a hard time defending that group on the field.
Deon, congratulations on being selected by the Seattle Seahawks in the 2009 NFL Draft. I know that you are excited and looking forward to August 15 when you all travel to Qualcomm Stadium to take on the San Diego Chargers. Best of luck.
naw this guy is much faster than Branch AND Engram. Just hope that Jim Mora will have the balls at No.3. Man, just imagine how many guys he could beat in coverage cuz he'll have to go against No.3 and No.4 corners. He'll get 20-30 rec next year.
Welcome to Seattle, baby. Hey, didn't he actually break Bobby Engram's record for most catches in a career at Penn State? I heard that somewhere. But anyway, the Seahawks are gonna kick ass next year if they can stay healthy.
i've really only read his scouting report but it says he is a very reliable reciever as well. he is obviously smaller but smaller guys get the job done these days. Curry, Unger, and Butler is a hell of a trio.
Not to mention the hawks have Denvers pick next year in a DEEP 2010 draft. Denver looks like they are down right now with no QB. I love this draft!!
thats the highlight reel and some of those balls ar overthrown there our plenty of tape of him not falling so dont make a judgement on 2 minutes of you tube
haha i wasn't judging. looking him up I'm kinda glad we got him now. I just noticed that every play he was either diving or falling and they were all deep balls. Guessing that we will use him as a slot receiver to replace engram
Size doesn't mean anything. Justin Forsett is only 56" 187lbs. Maurice Jones Drew is only 5'7" but 210lbs. Yes, they're all heavier but point being is they all were giving professional football jobs. Jones Drew got a contract extension. Size doesn't matter bro.
they're also running backs though. when i said way too small i meant poundage and then was corrected when i saw he actually weighed 188. he's perfectly fine
I've got Butler going late-round in my mock draft (5th/6th rd) This guy would be the PERFECT #3/slot reciever for the Chargers! Norv loves those speedy little deep-threat guys, and BUSTer Davis is a liablity with his recurring injuries, so Deon would be a nice fit to bump him off the roster! I also LOVE Deon's intensity before the game and how he gets his team fired up! He strikes me as a true leader type to have around in the locker room! Plus he was also a walk-on CB @ PSU, right?
Butler is always sick. He always catches the dirty passes aka the passes where as he catches it... he's gonna get pummeled. and he does it every time. legend
I cannot understand your language guys. Are you praising him or saying he will get hit hard when you say "pummeled" ?? I think you saying he is very good when you say he is "sick", right?
i think Butler had problems with grades at forst because in high school he was the best reciever in the dc area. Hylton was a beast when he was there.
I had the opportunity to play against him in high school, i didn't cover him, but the person who did try his best to give him hell, but his speed is like no other, i wouldn't be suprise to see him go into the draft next year. Watch out! everyone.
in 2005 he was a walk on freshman i was 12 years old and after one of the PSU games we walked to a volleyball game and he was giving signatrues with 2 other guys and no one was asking for any and i remember #3 was the number who had 2 or 3 touchdowns that day, but my brother said "its a waist of time. they only send the players no one really knows

,but i got his signature any way and the next weekend for the ohio state game i got his jersey cuz if he was a nobody why they selling his jersey. 2 years later hold the record for most yard in a game and season, and i think he is underrated. top 5 best wide recievers with his fellow widereciever derrick williams. with a good QB people will see how good they are

Im a hawks fan. However, this guy seems to lack height and seperation ability after break. I wish we would have got Crabtree and kept Leroy Hill.

stupid 'hawks and their drafting of midgets....
Conqueso656 2 years ago
He's 5'11 (not a midget) and ran the 2nd fastest 40-yard dash. We finally have explosiveness on the offense.
ludakrishna420 2 years ago 2
Correction ESPN just said that he's 182lbs now. Kinda Steve Smith maybe? Or Seattle's old Bobby Engram
RyanMarz07 2 years ago
Don't know if 3rd round by Seattle was a great idea. Why does he fall on every single catch he makes. He's way too small too. Only 5'10" and 168lbs
