@KSUfootballgirl late response but yes your master was correct. A kick to the knee is DEVASTATING, alot moreso then one to the head, if only because it's alot easier to get an accurate kick to the knee then to the face when your opponent is likely expecting it too. Not to mention that for MOST people, a kick to the knee is coming to come out alot faster and alot less noticeably then one to the head.
the high kicks are for terminate your oponent !! if you do a high kick in the right moment !! direct to his head you can hurt him seriosly because hte head has weak points all kicks are goods just depens on circuntances
Yes, every style I have trained suggests gut level (navel or lower kicks. We might train for height for the range of motion, but knees, shins, thigh (hit a nerve and excrutiating pain... receiver WILL DROP)
If you watched his early videos, he mentions you don't have to kick higher because people can easily block it. If you kick lower near the bellybutton it's harder for people to block.
@underthemoonbeam and it is the center of balance. :) the best place to kick. the most useful kicks are side kick and front kick to pelvic area/belly button. :)
Cool move.

I love the low kicks. I like using the hook kick to the shin with the lead leg. The sidekick to the knee, and the shin kick with the rear leg.

your an idiot. it has nothing to do with "the weak points in the head"

Even taekwondo suggests kicks that are aimed for the abdomen and lower legs. That is how you set up for stronger kicks.
