What a tragic loss - Dave passing due to a heart attack. Way too young to go.
What a briiliant songwriter, musician he was! Now Tracy carries on with her music; as hard as it must have been for her and I'm sure still is to have lost Dave. Tracy is so very talented and has a beautiful voice.
He was an amazing songwriter and seemed like equally amazing human being, it's a crime that his music isn't as known as it should be, it's appreciated by everyone who has listened though.
@shadow83blk -- there is no heaven. If heaven existed it would be on earth. and its not, so there is no heaven because no heavenly being would withhold heaven on earth from the animals. No heavenly being could allow for humans to do what has been done and what is being done to the animals and children.
I had the honour of seeing Tracey perform this song on her first tour without Dave, opening for Richard Shindell. Richard sang Dave's part. The song gave me chills, and it still does.
So much that she was gonna still be his lover after he became a woman. He is one of my songwriting and performing heroes, Tracy too, and to find out he was undergoing gender transformation just warps my mind.
Thank you so much for uploading this most mystical musician. Dave Carter sits in the Great Hall of Music with Townes Van Zandt. So many times these two great poets have moved me and many others to tears of joy, and tears of sadness.
Dave tragically died of a heart attack a few years ago. Tracy carries on in her own career. Treat yourself to every bit of music Dave and Tracy have created. (several CDs on Signature Sounds) You will be amazed.
Hi, Thank you for letting me know.. How sad the beautiful in depth talent he had to share with our world. Now he is gone.. I feel horid but I will most likely purchase his cds'.. hugs*
The blend of poetry and musicality is breathtaking. I love the images that Dave painted, and really appreciate Tracy in her continuance of Dave's legacy, and of course, now her own as well.
Dave and Tracy rock! Or at least Folk hard! Tracy always cames up with such lovely fiddle lines for Dave's songs. She doesn't tend to play as much fiddle anymore.

This is an absolutely brilliant performance!
I Just met Dave on here tonight.. Dec. 19th 2008.. :-( .. Then I read some of the posts and find out he is not alive? O'MY gosh..
What lilting music comes from his soul.
Having just found leaves me feeling empty.
I do not know what to say.. someone please inform me what happened to him.
Is this his wife? If so, is she still alive?
The music is Fabulous. I hope he met his maker.. awaiting with open arms.
Hugs*

This was great. Check out The Kennedys. They always do a Dave Carter song in their set and praise him dearly.
