  • beautiful song and video!

  • Wonderful cover of Willows song and very nice nature clips... Beautiful... :)

  • Sup, we made a song about this great film, please listen :D

  • @MemorandusMusic I listened, and I must say, I liked the song. I wish you well. I'd like to hear more.

  • I am a pagan and this song moves my soul...Mother earth asks for much..but she gives much...Humans are the evil thing we need to fear....

  • A paganistic inspired song, Remember folks, god commands that we worship him and only him, Making partners with god is a sin god will never forgive! choice we all

    have.

  • @abdulakarim007 A liking of the music of this movie does not make a heretic.

  • @abdulakarim007 god commands from a book written by man.

  • Oh no, not the bees!

  • Very pretty but I miss the drums too.........you know what the drums are!

  • I love this song ;) Blessings D.

  • love nature

  • Beautiful!!! What's the location?

  • You`ve got to give some kudos to Sneaker Pimps, their cover was still as fantastic as this. I love both versions, I would say this song is probably in my top 5 songs of all time, simply beautiful!

  • Oh, the things I'll show to you. :-)

  • I prefer this version to the OST version.

It actually inspired me to do a cover. It's on my page, it's a noise version with my vocals. The album this version is on is great in its entirety.

  • who made this cover?

  • This version of Willow's Song was performed by Nature and Organistion, from the album 'Beauty Reaps the Blood of Solitude.'

Members: Michael Cashmore (who basically is NAO) Death in June, Current 93, Rose McDowall,

  • Beautiful song, and very well-done video....but I agree, I miss the hand drum too. (Being a drummer and all.....) Thanks!

  • This is a brilliant version of this song, thankyou!

  • HOWD IT GET BUUUURRNNED!?!

  • I listen to this song everyday..it takes me to a spiritual place... where i can feel at peace ...BJ

  • Thank you for sharing this video. The song she sings is so beautiful, and I love the geese and deer. Very spiritual.

  • Really nice version, sympathetic to the original and more melodic singing than the original.

Still love the original though and the hand drum keeps it grounded:)

  • like this music very much video thouhtfull and good.

  • Beautiful song and video.

  • I found the movie on VHS in 1998 and it hadn't been rented in years. The world had forgotten it until it was brought back on DVD.

It was in the horror section, but I wasn't sure if it really belonged in that category. The music alone made it a special experience.

There was a book with a similar plot that came out around the same time. I'm told they're using it to make a sequel to this movie.

  • How'd it get burned?!?

  • How did what get burned?

  • howd it get burned bowd it get burned!!!!!!

  • @N8Hout I DON'T KNOW! I DON'T KNOW!

  • @N8Hout I-DON'T-KNOW!

  • This song scares the hell out of me.

  • She sounds like Elizabeth Fraser of the Cocteau Twins.

  • This Version of the Song is sung by Rose McDowall (of the 80s combo Strawberry Switchblade) and appears on an album of michael cashmores project 'nature and organisation'.

  • Great old tune !!

  • It should be the Scottish countryside that's featured!!

  • If I had clips of Scotland, i would have used it, of course.

  • Who sings this?

  • magnet - willow's song

  • Much agree. The original was great. mesmerizing.

  • I loved the original, and hated the remake.

  • I had a bad taste in my mouth after watching the remake. The eloquence of the original was completely missing in the remake.

  • Seconded! Absolutely cringing 'remake'

  • @MondoBeno The remake was the worst remake I have ever seen.

  • I didn't even give the remake a second glance. Nicholas Cage as a conservative English policeman....I don't think so.

I don't think the atmosphere of the first film could be recreated. Why even bother.

  • They moved the remake to Washington State, I believe. The whole thing was very unbelieveable.

  • This film haunted me when I first saw it.

The beautiful music with those gorgeous harmonies.......and the horrific ending.

Edward Woodward was brilliant.... too brilliant lol. The last scene gave me nightmares for weeks.

  • I know what you mean. My jaw dropped three feet when they introduced him to the Wicker Man. Wow. The butchering of the remake was nothing compared to the original.

  • This is great and i love this song :) Another verson to hear is Willow's song by The Doves :)

  • I swear I heard yet another obscure cover of this in the movie "Open Your Eyes" (Abre los Ojos), which is a creepy techno version playing as the background music in a club. Can someone confirm this, or did I just imagine it?

  • im confused lol. who is singing this as its not the name version as that in the movie

  • Very true. I only named the song from the movie because I didn't know who sang this version, and I didn't have the soundtrack from the movie. I have since gotten the soundtrack, and may do another version of the song, using that song. That's why you don't see the credit. I have since found out it is sung by Magnet. Sorry for the confusion.

  • cool. i love this version it's alot better than the movie version

  • You know you can edit the 'more info' section, and even the name of the video, and it won't change the comments here or anything? :) Now you know it's sung by Magnet why don't you mention it somewhere?

  • beautiful song! does anyone who is the singer and the band or who wrote it???

  • Written by Paul Giovanni, (originally)performed by Magnet for the Wicker Man Soundtrack. Its on iTunes, as well as covers by other artists/groups.

  • Thank you for the information. Other than this version, I only have the soundtrack from the movie, which is excellent. I decided on this one instead of the song from the soundtrack because of the haunting voice of the young girl.

  • another version is background music in Hostel 1. it's just after the 3 backpackers meet the 2 girls

  • I haven't seen that one. I did, however, see the sequel, and I was so appalled by it that I promised myself I wouldn't see the others. Eckkkk!

  • :) lovely song. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

  • An incredible song; haunting, stirring, beautiful.

  • Thank you. The way they sing it is a very haunting melody.

  • Oh I forgot. The song also appears on the "A dozen summers against the world " MCD, fortunately I've found a copy of this MCD some years back, I believe that nowadays it is almost as rare as the "Beauty reaps..." album.

  • Thank you for the information.

  • As a music fan, I found this song exceptional. The Wicker Man was a fantastic movie, (Despite the completely inaccurate burning sacrifice pagan ceremony at the end.)

    This version is wonderful.

  • I must agree. Thanks.

  • This version is from Nature and Organisation "Beauty Reaps and the Blood of Solitude" album.

On this song Rose Mcdowall does the vocals, and in my opinion is better than the original version.

  • I looked it up and tried to find a copy. It's very expensive if you can find it. Thanks for the heads up on the song.

  • Thank you. I found a copy on Amazon, but it was pretty expensive, but I love this version.

  • Isn't this song really called "The Restive Woman?"

  • To be honest, I'm not really sure. I have always known it as Willow's Song. On the soundtrack of the Wicker Man, it is also listed as Willow's Song. It might have been entitled something else, though where you saw it.

  • really pleasant voice

  • awesome song!

  • This rendition is excellent, I agree.

  • i don´t know antyhing about the original movie but this clip is so nice, pure and full of kindness and love that it has to be added to my favourites...thanx!

  • Thank you as well.

  • incredibly well done! <3

  • Thank you, irgy.

  • I stay about 20 minutes away from where most of the Wicker Man was filmed.

  • Will you adopt me? :)

  • hehe anytime just come to scotland and head for wickerman country lol

  • Only one thing ruins this ,the american scenery,it should be in Scotland the home of the wicker man.

  • It would be my extreme pleasure to do the background scenery in Scotland. Unfortunately, I am limited as to where I can shoot the photography, by both economics and time.

  • Oh so beautiful. Thank you for your lovely video. I love it. :)

  • The Doves have done an excellent version of this song. Its on the Radio One Live Lounge CD Volume two. I wish someone would put that version up cheers.

  • who sang the song the wickerman 1973? some people say it was someone called "Lesley Mackie", some people say "Rachel Verney" some people say "Annie Ross" who sang it?

  • the dance which goes with it is interesting.

i've tried to find out who sand the song, apparently it was dubbed, but while i've tried to find out who dubbed it i've heard about 4 different names

  • thanks for this beautiful video and song..it takes me to places in my mind where i go when i want to reach certain moods and feelings..magical and innocent..a neverwhen and a neverwas that i see mostly in dreams...and yes,i love the Original Wickerman Movie..

  • I love your comment. I know exactly what you mean. The song is definitely one that can inspire images of the mind, visually setting its own movie in motion. :)

  • Oooops...apologies...I should have read earlier posts!

  • This is not the Wicker Man movie version. This version is by the band Nature and Organisation, with Rose McDowell on vocals and Michael Cashmore on guitar. The album is called Beauty Reaps the Blood of Solitude, which unfortunately is now out of print. Thanks for posting this amazing song and great visuals.

  • Thanks. I know it's out of print. A friend of mine was able to get a copy of this one song. I believe you can get a copy of the CD on Amazon, but with a hefty price.

  • anyone know the true meaning to this song???

  • Who is singing this version of Willow's Song?

  • The songs original title was 'The Siren Song' but I think WILLOW SONG nicer. According to the film's musical director Gary Carpenter, the screen version was sung by Rachel Verney. Some have believed, however, that it was the Scottish jazz singer Annie Ross........

    Nice film gentletouch ***** /|\

  • I've only known it as Willow's Song. The soundtrack to the original movie states is thus. I also like the Siren's song title. Thanks for letting me know.

  • rather see brit ecklands fake bum than a deer though :(

  • LOL. Actually, most of the scene was done with a stand-in, not Eckland.

  • hence why i said 'fake' bum :P

  • A good observation. :)

  • Thank you very much. Have you heard the Faith and the Muse´s cover of this song? If you have the energy, make a video of it too.. :)

  • tussuperseensuti: Not heard those versions but i like 'Sneaker Pimps' version called 'How Do'.

  • Yeah, I heard sneaker pimps version years and years ago, then watched the film and realised where it was from! Crazy!

  • I haven't heard those versions, but if I can find the music, I'll do other videos and interpretations. Thanks for the headsup.

  • Mainio nimierkkinen..

  • Thanks, I think.

  • Nice ducks

  • Thanks.

  • Who's singing this? Really nice but it's not the original soundtrack.

  • In response to your question ... and mine ... this version of Willow's Song is sung by Rose McDowall on the Nature and Organisation album

  • Thanks. I love her voice.

  • this video has just saved my life...i may be alone but at least i am no longer empty...for the moment

  • I'm very happy I could help you. Perhaps a confindante would help you. It helped me many years ago. Just please, don't do anything drastic, okay?

  • Stunning! Beautiful! Natural!

Has all the authentic pagan spirit of the WIcker man without any of the nasty sacrifice.

Know of a natural Pagan gal that wants to get back to nature, sire a few natural children in that....

    "old time religion"?

I am 42 - looking to pass on some idealism. Let me know.

    John

  • Sorry John, I don't. You might go to some of the Pagan & Wiccna gatherings, or renaissance faires. I just went to one and there are quite a number of Pagans & Wiccans.

  • If your near Norfolk - there is the pagan Fairyland trust weekend at Narborough hall. They come from all over Europe for the weekend. Look it up on the net - it is July.

  • Religion of peace,Hard to separate sacrifice from paganism, I'm afraid, including Christianity, which is but another solar cult.

  • this is as haunting and beautiful as when i first heard it.

  • I like this version as well as the original. And yes, I agree, it is a haunting melody.

  • Beautiful.

  • Thank you, j4wn

  • great track and video . chilling

  • Thanks, Dave. I have a lot of fun doing all my videos.

  • WYRD

  • Huh?

  • ...indeed a great tune. I saw this film last night and the part of Willow is absolutely mesmerising for its time. As a kind request, can that scene be placed on YouTube?

  • If I can get around to it, I'll make a video of that famous scene.

  • ahh, indeed, I figured it might have been taken down because of it's.. 'daring' nature, shall I say :-) But looking beyond that & the nudity, what is left is still a section of the film that you cannot help but look in awe. Well deserved to have that on here again :-)

  • It was on YouTube for a while, but got taken down.

  • Ah. Perhaps I shuoldn't put it up then.

  • Then may I ask a favor from your kind self and can you send me this scene directly? I have a friend who is also liking the scene but to whom can use it for her University dissertation in English about Rituals and Paganism in modern society and she would love to have that scene as part of her work. I am not adept in the art of movie extraction so I kindly ask if you can do it for me with much appreciation from my end :-)

  • I would be hppy to, if you'll send me your email address.

  • Wow this film has some amazing music :)

  • Thanks, I'm glad you liked it.

  • love the username. just thought you ought to know. :)

  • I hope you get the chords to the song. I agree, it is an excellent song.

  • great song... anyone have guitar tabs for this song? found some on google, but they only cover the first couple bars. if anyone has full tabs of this song, please senf them to me!

  • shame they didn't show the original footage.

  • I have the original, but decided to make a mor original version, usuing some footage I had. It is my interpretation of the song. If you really want, I can make one with the original, though. I love the movie.

  • gentletouch1- I didn't like this movie at first, but the more I thought about it (and the strong pro-Pagan message) the more I liked it.

  • Thanks. I wanted it to be like a sort of story. That's why I included the video of the car travelling. I also wanted it to be Nature beckoning the viewer and the traveller(s) in the video to see that there is much around us, all we have to do is listen. Thanks,

  • absolutely magical. Entrancing one could say...

  • Thank you, jeandepaul. The song is wonderful, I agree. I'm happy you like the video.

  • ooooooooh i do i doooooooo!!!! lol

  • LOL.

  • This is the Nature and Organisation version of this song- my favorite but not from the original movie. There are several versions of this song out there. This is the best.

  • Thank you, miaow777. I had fun making it. It's one of two of my favorites from the movie. The other is Gently, Johnny, which I would be thrilled to make a video of.

  • gentletouch1- I absolutely love this song! I have only recently seen the original movie. I didn't like it at first, but I do like it now. I would love to see your version of "Gently, Johnny".

  • Best scene in the movie. Haunting as anything. I love it.

  • I agree. I like this rendition of the song also.

  • heres one of my own songs, it must be in part influenced by the wicker man as I was so obsessed with it!

  • In the movie where the woman sings this song it's like the creepiest yet most beautiful and unique scenes ever placed in the movie.

  • It is a haunting scene. Did you know that Rod Stewart tried to buy up all of the proofs of the film, because he didn't want the nude scene of his girlfriend being shown? Thankfully he didn't succeed.

  • Lol, more fool Rod Stewart, cos the really naughty bits were'nt Britt! T'was the girl seen perched on her dead lovers grave.

  • one of the finest songs i have ever heard, good to see so many people appreciating it.I always watch the wicker man on the eve of may 1st, it really brings the magic out. A film touched by the old ones for sure.

  • What a great idea! I'm very glad they released the extended version not long ago. When it was first released, it was the cut, edited version. Do you also have the soundtrack? I love the music from that.

  • yeah, I have the pleasure of owning it, haven't listened to it for a while though, time to immerse myself in its brilliance again soon methinks.I've been busy putting some of my songs up on youtube(amateurish quality i'm afraid), but hopefully they don't sound too bad! I also love the wicker man song 'gently jonny', do you?

  • One of my favorites! I was extremely disappointed that the first release of the Wicker Man DVD left out that most excellent scene! I got the second release that had it in, though, and now I am very very happy. I was, however, disappointed in the newest verion of the movie, with Nicolas Cage. No matter how hard I tried, I had a hard time liking the new version. Much of the charm and research of the original was just lost.

  • Ive got a version of this i made myself with my woman doing the dance, bet it would be removed if i posted it on here though.

  • I think it would depend upon how risky the video is. If it's like the original song scene, I think not, but a warning would be applied. I'd like to see your version, though.

  • This is very beautiful, beautiful music and beautiful images. Give me that old time religion.....

    :-)

  • LOL. I once gave a talk radio show host a T-shirt with that phrase on it. He loved it.

  • Thank you for the lyrics. They are as beautiful as the singing. I am a big fan of the original movie.

  • Great movie and song, but where's the tits? I mean Blue-tits of course.

  • I didn't want to use the scenes from the movie, but rather an interpretation of it.

  • I was joking Gentletouch, Blue-tits are birds.

  • Ah. thank you for clarifying that. I wasn't quite sure what blue-tits were. :)

  • Thank you for the nice comments. I enjoyed making the video in tribute to the song.

  • bellissimo vorrei averlo

  • Thank you for your nice comments.

  • The video and the song are very touching. your clips are wonderful, did you film them? and if you did, where is the location?. I haven't watched the remake of the wicker man, but I've always thought that remakes are not good , unless the original version was crap and the remake did something to improve it. But this is clearly NOT the case , since the original Wicker man is undoubtely a great film!!!.

  • It was some footage a friend of mine shot years ago. He let me make the video, after I saw the footage. He didn't tell me where it was taken, but I would say that given the types of birds and the footage at the end, I'd be willing to bet it's the Northwest wilderness.

  • this is stunning... Was originally sung by Britt Eckland in the film. The Sneaker Pimps did a version of it, but this sounds like the orignal... The film is a classic.... The remake is everything that's wrong with Hollywood.... Thanks for posting this.

  • You are very welcome. The reason the original is a classic is that it used an amazing formula of folk music, and was well-researched into the Pagan mythologies and traditions. The new movie did none of that. I thought the remake's writer, etc., to Nicholas Cage just did it for the money rather than put their love into the movie. Christopher Lee did the original for love not money. He didn't even make any money on the original.

  • Was this song originally written for the movie or is it an old song redone? Do you know who sung this version? Its awesome, thanks for putting it up.

  • It's a remix of the original. I'm not sure who does it. It was on a CD a friend gave me, but had no name on the song for who did it. It's as beautiful a rendition as the original though. I'll try and find out, though.

  • This version is sung by Rose Mcdowall and Nature & Organization , a band with members of Death in June , current 93 and others. By the way,I love this song, it's really beautiful.
