These bands seem to be more in the funeral and death-doom area, but that's cool. I personally prefer the sludged out fuzzy stuff with some occasional psychedelia thrown in, but I can get down with these bands. Good stuff

Is every person watching this video honestly so ignorant? There are several deviations from the traditional doom metal style that can still be considered doom metal. You don't NEED cheesy lyrics and operatic vocals to be "true doom." ...this coming from a person who enjoys everything doomy from Candlemass to Evoken.

And i don't like to speak in genres and all that, but when i think of doom it's Sabbath, Saint Vitus, Witchfinder General, Cathedral etc.. This is more atmospheric death/metal stuff ya know. the thing i don't like about this 'swedish' sound is they all sound the same. @texasB666 Draconian is deffinately doom. They are one of the progenators of the Doom metal genre. Elegion sounds more like melodic black metal to me. Estatic Fear, I would say, are not Doom metal at all really. I don't recall seeing the single stated creator of Doom, Candlemass. I don't know how you have a Doom metal list that lacks Candlemass.

@texasB666 I would say some of their songs deffinately inspired Doom acts but Black Sabbath is not exclusively Doom. Most of the stuff done with Dio isn't very Doom-esque and there are plenty of Ozzy era songs that aren't really Doom.

Black Sabbath is so freaking played out that i can't see how I can waste time when there are so many hidden gems out there. I don't have time for CLASSIC DOOM since I have heard it all already. I love most of it. That said, Sabbath is and always will be a prototypical example of the Doom genre template.

I've been playing in extreme experimental metal bands (not anymore now) and the more i think about it, the more i find we were searching the wrong way. Playing fast and screaming your balls off just isn't the way to go. Check out Neurosis. That is some powerful music, man. and btw, we cannot discuss music. We can only listen to it. So if someone says "This is better", he/she is full of shit. peace, man.
