  • wait...this guy is questioned cause he did drugs, hahahahahahahaha

  • You see NFL players blow off questions like that all the time...he played it safe so he wouldn't risk saying something the media would blow up. Tough enough for him being from Arkansas, there's so much bias and hate towards us. He will be a great player, he will get his time. He proved his worth at Arkansas, and if ya don't like him, tough shit, he's making more money than all of us.

  • @MasterChiefZ28 So whats money have to do with it? Bringing that up shows your idiocy.

  • @TheThirdWing94 ohhh i dont know, maybe that he makes a said amount of money meaning he doesn't really care what haters have to say. his abilities have gotten him where he's at so us arguing won't change that. Don't see anything idiotic about the comment. It does however prove your trolling ability, would you like a cookie?

  • Nothing "less than stellar" here. Just an honest dude.

  • im an Arkansas fan but i dont think Mallett can write his name... Good QB though lots of good memories

  • good for you Mallett... I like this dude

  • I go to Arkansas. I have seen Ryan Mallett fed up on every type of drug there is. Numerous times. I have also seen mcfadden fed up too. These guys are rough around the edges...comes with growing up in crappy places...but come on they're clean now, they test you too much

  • There is nothing wrong with this interview. It may be a little rough around the edges, but he doesn't need to share everything with the media. He explained that to them, and they kept pushing. I don't see how he was condescending.

  • He told the reporters that he wishes to keep that information between him and the owners before he started answering questions.

  • His agent told him to keep the drug rumors between him and the team owners/ coaches. I feel like he handled the conference well. All the rumors that were started are from people that don't know him. The razorbacks still support you Ryan.

  • I'm not a journalist. If Mallett's demeanor during this interview is being judged as condescending, then those journalists who made that judgment must be very thin-skinned. It is hard to believe that people who deal with a wide gamut of athletes' personalities would discern this just from what we see in the video and until evidence, or even specific narrative, is provided to prove their negative viewpoint, I cannot give much credence to any of the journalists' opinions.

  • What's the big deal? I don't see anything particularly wrong in his answers. There's no reason he should talk about everything to the media, he doesn't owe them anything.

He does have a weird accent, though.

  • Don't you wish that we held our Presidents to the same standards as we do our quarterbacks.....pot smoker, alcoholic and a crackhead, our last three Presidents.....maybe we need NFL scouts do the digging on our presidential candidates and ESPN and NFL Network pick them apart....oh, and then have sports media do the press conferences.....what is this world coming to when we hold our sports figures to a higher standard then we do our political candidates.....somethings wrong with this picture.....

  • sounds like an inmate or something like instead of football i could almost hear him talking about life behind the wallls

  • I can't believe my Pats wasted a pick on this guy.

  • All I see here is a poised young guy who has shown a very good football talent. His answers concerning allegations is the same one every reasonable person would give, impliedly, those questions aren't any of your business, i've talked to my future employers about them and if they are satisfied then i don't have to satisfy you. And I'm a Michigan fan and perhaps was inclined to dislike him....but i didn't.

  • @hfelton dude you should work for the patriots..seriously lol

  • Most negative rumors pre-draft turn out to be false and come from agents of rival prospects, then get amplified by Kiper, McShay and others of that ilk. Mallet is by far the most talented QB in this draft. His deep throws remind me of Tom Bradý, so I wouldn't be surprised if Belichick takes him fairly early, maybe with the first pick of the second-round. I don't think he'll get past the first five picks of the second round. IMO; he'll make someone a great NFL QB.

  • @hfelton Nice job predicting him being taken by the Pats. Not in the second round, but still.

  • I can't wait until three years from now when everybody comes back and watches this saying........ "What the hell was I thinking trying to change this kid"

I'm sure he's a great guy, but with drugs and his personality he just will not cut it.. Plain and simple.

  • I just think he speaks like an idiot.

  • I do mad drugs and I can tell you just from watching him that Mallett does too hahaha it soo obvious.

  • I didn't want to say anything but I have heard some disturbing rumors about Tony Softli. Could a reporter from MO, who is an Alum and former coach of the Univ. of Washington have an alterior motive for condemn the character of both Mallett and Newton? Isn't it odd that the two players who have benefitted most from these so called "character issues" are Locker and Gabbert. Is there something rotten in the state of MO?

  • I heard Ryan said very clearly during the interview that he is not going to talk about the drug allegations with them, only with the teams and this jerk asked him about it again at the end of the interview. The media wants respect but they need to respect the players request. That's how interviews turn out bad.

  • It's stupid, he's not a bad kid, and the NFL writers are calling him a punk and jumping on the band wagon of the drug shit, he's just a normal person, and all the piece of shit elitist around this great country that make it so nit great, have to find someone to blame so they don't look so bad, all I got to say is you know people just like him, you have a friend that's like him, if you don't like the way he talks don't try and ruin him so you feel better, if you really gotta pick on someone ole

  • You know what? I hate Arkansas as a rival fan, i Hate bobby potrino. But i have no problem with this kid. If thousand of ppl start saying your on drugs, or whatever and your not wouldn't it piss you off too? He seems like a strong confident kid, hes good at what he does and he knows it, so what? Look at Rivers, or Morino. All those guys are cocky but there all pretty darn good. If a team like MN or Tennisse talked to him and feels like he is legit then i cant see him getting past MN at 12.

  • Everybody loves to hate Arkansas.

  • I hate the media!

  • Hey DanTheMan,

You are an incredibly stupid dickhead. Go back to your parents basement and masturbate you fucking smartmouth punk.

  • he is the man...he only needs to talk about the drug shit to decision makers ...fuck the media

  • This guy looks like an idiot and cost himself millions rookie wage scale or not, but what would you expect from an Arkansas QB?

  • He may be cocky but he is going to be a good QB.

  • I think they were talking mainly about his arm strength and accuracy but I could be wrong. I dont put a lot of stock in so called "analysts" anyway. Mallet can throw it..of that there's no doubt. Unless someone has a crystal ball I dont think there's much way to determine how college skill relates to NFL performance at QB especially. I dont see Cam Newton making a great NFL QB but its no more than a guess. (The Matt Jones reference was about drugs not QB Style)

  • @MrRazorback70 Jones didn't have questions about drug use or work ethic coming out of college. He was taken in the first round because of a moster combine workout. He's 6'6 and ran a 4.3. His measurables were similar to Calvin Johnson. Jones didn't have a good enough arm to play QB in the NFL which is why he converted to reciever. The only thing him and Mallet have in common was that they both played QB for the same team in college.

  • first off hes been in many interviews after games. second, the whole drug rumors started from ryans old agent he was mad cause ryan dropped him. trust me i was roomates with ryan at arkansas.

  • 5th round pick.

  • @MrGreeneggsnham

    You could be right. Maybe you should post up your top ten draft picks and we will see how good you do. :-}

  • @MrGreeneggsnham

haha maybe but i don't see Mallet being a rookie of the year, MVP, and hall of fame player in nfl like iverson in nba

  • I don't see why anyone other than the NFL teams considering drafting him need to know his personal details. If an NFL team decides not to draft him just because he didn't want to discuss a RUMOR with the entire world that's just plain stupid...

  • @hobomunch Playing QB in the NFL is a high profile position. You are constantly asked to give interviews and if you don't make yourself available to the media then will will be fined by the league. If you don't like dealing with the media then maybe the UFL is a better fit. Maybe he can backup Daunte Culpepper for the Sacramento Mountain Lions if he doesn't like talking to reporters.

  • @MrGreeneggsnham

I think he talked to reporters. I dont think that's an issue. He seemed to get tired of being asked that same type of question over and over. He is a kid. Get over it. He may not make it in the NFL. I certainly dont know how he will do. I just think it's a little early to make predictions based on a press conference.

  • @MrRazorback70 He seems to be a carbon copy of Ryan Leaf. Huge arm great natural passer, cocky, arrogant and concers over his work ethic.

  • @MrGreeneggsnham

He may be Ryan Leaf or former Razorback Matt Jones (I cant believe you didnt make that connection) but there's no way to know how well he will do in the NFL. Time will tell all I suppose. Its hard to go from college to the NFL at QB. Thats established. One thing is for certain, he has been throwing the football really well for a long time. I heard several sources say his performance at the combine was the best in the last 10-15 yrs.

  • @MrRazorback70 He skipped a bunch of the drills. I don't see how it could even have been the best this year. This years QB crop isn't very impressive. There are big question marks floating over all of the players.

Matt Jones isn't a pocket passer. Nobody compares him to Mallet. Jones didn't have all the charcter concerns coming out of college either.

  • @MrGreeneggsnham

Does anyone actually enjoy talking to reporters? It doesn't mean he won't talk to them anyway, I just can't blame a guy for not enjoying talking about rumors like it's a TMZ interview...he just wanted to talk about football. I don't see anything wrong with that.

  • @hobomunch Yes some people do enjoy talking to reporters and some do enjoy being in front of the camera and some people are very good at it. Have you have heard of Deon Sanders? Shaquille O'Neal?

  • @MrGreeneggsnham

Of course I've heard of those two prima donnas. You should have added Ochocinco and TO as well.

  • Comment removed

  • If he gets drafted to a team that can protect him he could be great, if he's under constant pressure then he will be in trouble. He has a cannon arm and lead feet in the pocket. I didn't care for his play this year in crucial situations, but I always root for the pigs that make it to the nfl.

  • 1879-- sorry

  • @ jwesley1869-- lol. I just have to say u must be uneducated. I understand that some people don't like Arkansas ( WPS ) but that dosent mean you have the right to call someone a white trash meth head. When I read your comment I just laugh and picture a fat beer drinking half toothless jealous high school drop out. Haha. And I know everyone els who reads your comment does too.

Anyway, good luck mallett! Go do your thing us razorbacks are proud!

  • If I had been in the room I might have took it as condescending also. I watched it and three times before making a comment. I think he looked uncomfortable at times which is on par for a young man in that position. Everyone is indeed entitled to their own opinion.

I dont know how Ryan will do in the NFL. I dont think anyone knows that for sure. If I were picking I'd go with the best all around athlete with some intelligence. Tom Brady didnt get drafted high and look at him now. Its a gamble.

  • @jwesley1879

I see that you are from the University of Mississippi. Why doesnt that surprise me that you would call a Razorback player a white trash meth head?? Is he? I dont believe that he is. Has he ever used drugs? I dont know that either. To call a Division I college quarterback who was very successful on the field a "meth head" sounds suspicious to me. I have known some meth heads and most of them couldnt be successful in any field much less a NCAA School from the SEC.

  • @MrRazorback70 I thought it was coke and pot that he was into not meth.

  • @MrGreeneggsnham

Are you speaking from experience? Do you know thats a fact? Or are you a troll that sits and waits on a chance to post something to try and incite a vengeful response? I dont have any personal knowledge of drug use by Ryan or anyone else for that matter. That doesnt mean nobody uses drugs, it means I dont know one way or another. I would love to hear how you know his drugs of choice. Lay it on me Dr. Seuss.

  • @MrRazorback70 There was an article published online citing two sources inside the Arkansas program about him using marijuana and cocaine. This is why the media is asking him questions about it. If something like this happens in the NFL they will do the same thing. You get asked over and over. Just look at how the media treated Brett Favre. All season long with the questions about Jen Sterger. It's part of the job. If he can't handle it then don't apply for the job.

  • I think he did a good job. It wasnt a prepared statement that handlers prepared for him like a few others. He answered the questions posed and said he did not want to talk about some rumors. Thats fair i think. You have to remember that MILLIONS of dollars are at stake here. Its no different than rumors hitting the press the day before an election.

Most rumors are started by people with an agenda. Thats likely the case here.

"Less than stellar?" I don think so.

  • @MrRazorback70 That's fine. I didn't think he did a good job and here's why- he knew those questions on his drug use were coming- the same way Cam Newton knew they were coming, the same way Robert Quinn knew questions about his suspension were coming. He came across as condescending and that is an opinion of a lot of good journalists in that room, and NFL executives that were watching.

  • @MartyTimeTV The fact that he was condescending towards the sensationalist media shows great maturity on his part. Bill Parcells called you guys communists for several legitimate reasons. The fabricating of news which occurs with a great frequency in today's media is not only disturbing but dangerous as well.

  • He got a bad rap for nothing, he didn't do great but it was not horrible.

  • You claimed it was a "less than stellar media session." Now, back up your mouth. Tell us how it was "less than stellar." Thanks.

  • How is this a "less than stellar media session?" You ARE a POS hack for making such a claim, and you're just trying to stir up these utter BS drug claims that ONLY came about immediately before the combine. The fact that I didn't hear about a story until it suddenly became a made up story doesn't reflect on me in any manner whatsoever. That's just a ridiculous claim and shows what a piece of filth you are. This story didn't even exist until immediately before the combine.

  • I'm going to call you what you are--a hack--just like the POS so-called journalist from Yahoo Sports who is engaging in the character assassination of Ryan Mallett. The kid simply chose to focus on football, not BS rumors that just started. What blows me away is jerks like you who think they have the right to try and destroy his career, as well as jerks like the Yahoo Sports LIAR who said these rumors have been circulating for months. Strange... I have NEVER heard about it until this week.

  • @jamesbell38117 Well you're a complete idiot. All this video is, is footage of a well-attended press conference I was at. Get it? You answer questions at a press conference. And the fact that you have never heard of these allegations until now while the rest of the sports world has is a reflection of you. Moron.

  • @MartyTimeTV

I dont think thats fair. Ive never heard this before either. Does that make me a moron? People who dont agree with you arent automatically morons. Your response makes you like like a prick. You may or may not be. The camera work was awful but that doesnt mean youre a moron. It just means you may not be the best camera guy around.

  • @MrRazorback70 Youre right- my camera work was awful. Wasn't intending to post this video until I saw the reaction it got at press conference. And no, I don't care if people agree with me or not. That James Bell dude starts immediately with his vicious name-calling & has a history of doing that to everyone at my station. With him, it is personal. With everyone else, it's not. I'm sharing an opinion, which we're all entiteld to.

  • @MartyTimeTV Please find one article or video saying anything about these allegations from more than a month ago. I call BS on this.

  • @snoboarder4lif

    Google this.

"sources inside the Arkansas program are shedding some light on the rumors that Mallett has substance abuse problems.

NFL Draft Monsters has a policy of not publishing a story without two independent confirmations. We were approached this week, by a source inside the Arkansas program who told us the he has personally witnessed Mallett use both marijuana, and cocaine."

  • @MrGreeneggsnham

LMFAO... The website that is calming that has a whole 7 articles. I'm sure they have great sources and people always run to them with this great information. Keep dreaming and find something a little more credible next time.

  • @snoboarder4lif They have a lot more than 7 articles, lol. I found an article and you're still in denial. Da Nile is a river in Egypt and Mallet is a coke head with cement feet. I could show you a video of him snoting blow and you would just say it wasn't him, LOL.

  • @MrGreeneggsnham

I went back and looked at that website again, yeah they have a few more than 7 articles that I found this time. But I have a question for you, have you ever heard of this website before now? Still seems like some BS to me. Find something a little more credible. Why would someone go and give such great information to a no name website? If you had such a great story to break wouldn't you go to ESPN or someone more credible?

  • @snoboarder4lif He doesn't work for ESPN and it's not that great of a story. A college athlete uses drugs.......like that's never happened before.

  • @MartyTimeTV You answer questions at a press conference? Are you serious? No, you give the company line and dismiss questions that aren't beneficial for you to answer. This interview was no different than any Brett Favre, McNabb, Manning, presser. They all ignore the BS they don't want to answer and give the company line to the other questions. Welcome to reality.

  • i thought ryan was very stellar considering the circumstances...the camera guy (probably you) was less than stellar
