to becful21 you shouldn't do skullcrushers that go below a 90 degree angle or it will understandingly fuck up your elbows. Skullcrushers and dips are great tricep exercises
Normally I only use the smith machine for pullup/chinups, inverted rows or hanging ab raises and such but this looks like a movement that could actually benefit from being done on the smith machine. I'm not sure if I think they'd be better free or not, though - I guess if you can keep your elbows right then free would be better, if not use the smith to help with form?
J.M. Blakely invented this exercise and shit this exercise blasts your tri's, the guy in the vid who is doing it should have is elbows pointed outward for maxium results.
Elbows are dropping taking away the effect of a JM Press ... this is not a JM Press... JM PRESS works the Lower TRICEP.. not the chest.. Its partial... but I wouldnt call it a JM.
all these faggots saying "bad form blah blah". If you skinny fucks ever decide to lift heavy weight, you will know that form generally suffers when you lift big.
then you shouldnt do heavy weight.... if you want to get big proper form is more important then heavy weight... you just made yourself look like a dumbass to youtube
you think ronnie coleman actually uses poor form when hes in off season training. you stupid shit the only reason you see him lifting shit like 2000 lb leg press is for when hes being filmed. watch any body builder lift furreal in his off season and there form is perfect. thats the key. so do some research before you start to talk shit u ignorant shit
@xmane22 especially when you try to lift above your ability.. form does not need to suffer unless of course you live on the continent thats called north america.......
these are not done correctly. his elbows should not move that much, and should point to the ceiling. his do not. smith machine probably makes this harder than free weight barbell. still very strong, just not done correctly, in my opinion.
Are JM Presses that effective?? Just wondering, i'm trying to get my bench up and people tell me i have good drive since I can get the weight up halfway or more, but it's my tris that won't let me lock them out. I don't like skull crushers tho, they seem to fuk with my elbow. Any tips would be great, thx..
they are one of my top three favorite tricep movements. others are elbow's out extensions, rolling dumbell extensions, high board presses, floor presses, and pin lockouts. the key is keep the elbows tucked.
I think you may have the only video of JM presses in which they are done correctly. The smith machine may facilitate this. Note I am not saying make it them easier. Everyone else seems to just do close grip bench presses and then they call them JM presses.
this one of the only times that i use the smith machine for anything other than a coat rack. It forces you to keep your elbows in. like you said, most people just do a close grip bench and allow there elbows to flare out.
@secuervo Except that you're not supposed to let your wrists fall back. Rotating the wrists so that the knuckles are facing the ceiling makes it much harder and gives you a far greater burn.
Just another variation.....not a better exrercise..or worse.
Do them all,,,,,,in three weeks waves.

on a smith? You dont feel that it kills your ROM

For a JM press its vital that you press in a straight line, therefore the smith press would be ideal

Title of vid is misleading.

This is a Kaz press. Both are very effective. Who the hell cares how he does them.

this is not done correctly. his elbows go to the ground. jm's are intended to keep elbows stationary. he's strong, but these are not jm's.

finally someone with common sense.... half these people sit on there ass and dont know a thing about lifting... this is shitty form its not even a JM
