Ever since i heard the "fish rising" album that was it .I played that album over and over.A little while after a good friend introduced me to his friend, this guy had every Hillage album there was. Also all the Gong albums, they were all imports.I have most of them now.I just bought the Gong live etc
@boblad1 "Their biggest secret is revealed (Oh No), it isn't really them at all, it's you and me!" Steve must've been an interesting Philosophy student
@ziggerzag101 Bet you right ! I think he would make a fine teacher these days as well. " Today boys and girls we will be looking at auras, and earth energies " !
the voice is a little shakey at 1st, but it has been 27yrs, the playing though just gets better. just wish he and miquette would form a band and tour, just think with todays sound systems how good he would sound now. i know he always says keep on keeping on but iam certain he would pack any venue out.CMON STEVE RESCUE ME FROM TODAYS SHIT SO CALLED MUSIC, saw you twice in the 70's at free trade hall m/cr, seen loads since they dont come close.
Well, I have the DVD and yes, the 1st two songs, Hello Dawn & Not Fade Away, are a bit slow to start and I feel Steve was perhaps freaking out a tiny bit about singing on stage for the 1st time in almost 30 years, but belive me...the DVD just keeps getting better and better, tighter and tighter and more and more jamming! By the end, my jaw was hanging... in fact, this DVD may contain the greatest Salmon Song of all time.
Interesting that it's not very tight but "tight enough" - there's a looseness that shows he hasn't played a lot of this in a while but his licks are coming back strong towards the end. He's getting into it!
Hillage was endlessly touring back in the old days and the band became really tight. not so any longer but its good to see that the vibe is still golden.
Steve Hillage is a true guitar icon and has influenced many. He changed direction many years ago and formed System 7 which moved away from the guitar hero hippy trippy scene. 30 years on and Steve is still a guitar hero but this concert lacks the use of a 2nd guitarist so that Steve can really show what he can do. Also, it appears that he is not taking this so seriously as he used to and it shows.
Anybody got the tabs????... I'm only kidding!
