I've always liked this song; out of everything released on the CD by Bear Family, this was about the only one I really cared to hear.
It comes to me now that when he drags out the syllables of the words, he sounds just like an air horn on a rig; I'm sure that may be more than coincidental, but it really brings the single together as a song.
The original and best in my opinion. This is how we play it. Why Buck slowed it down, I have no idea. The word "driving" implies it should be fast. Thanks for posting this!
The flip side, "Don't Drop It" was the hit side. Ironically it's been forgotten and "Truck Driving Man" which never made the charts in 1954 is a classic. Go figure.

Buck Owens recorded the best ever version.This is the original from 1954.I understand it is Buck singing harmony,and playing guitaar.
