This is pretty good- singer's voice is good for this song, but I'm not sure about the end. Same w Jesse's version- though even Jeff didn't do the whole thing live, from what I can see here.

I really like the Pillow Army version because they do the whole song and I love the way they managed to add strings without mucking up the feel of the song.

All Mangum covers sound exactly the same to me. They simply lack heart. Just watch Jeff when he sings, he sings with passion. Watch 'little birds' (particularly the end) for an idea of how much he is affected by his own music. It comes from the deepest darkest parts of his soul which is what makes it so brilliant, and so unlike most of the rubbish in production today.

Interpretation, man! Interpretation! I think the scream, from Jesse's point of view, comes out of fear, the exact opposite of what NMH's original feels like: hope. Given the context of the song, I think it works both ways.

Agreed though, that line is the best in the song, and potentially in all of the "Aeroplane Over The Sea" record.
